Not only can you get great 'regular' fares, they have those wonderful ding rates that come up.

I also love how they deal with you when having to talk to someone. They are considerate of their clients, helpful and don't make you feel like you are taking up their precious times, like other companies can.

More company should look at Southwest and Disney and model themselves after these companies, they will gain customer loyalities.

If you have an (A) boarding pass and the A line is loaded do you really need to stand in line or just go up when the line slims down or will the B passes start butting in? Does southwest care if someone in A has a B pass, do they get through or sent to the B line? We would like to try them but if Southwest doesn't go by the rules they set then what's the purpose.

I have seen them turn several people back who tried to butt in line. I felt bad for them but happy that they were enforcing their policies.

I never line up. If I have an A pass I get in line when the A line is nearing the end. Once the A line has boarded then the B line starts. They will not wait for someone who is not in line before boarding B's but they don't allow people to line cut.

There is a Southwest FAQ at flyertalk which gives some great insight into the Southwest system. It's a good read for folks wanting to take advantage of Southwest's cheap tickets and great customer service.

I usually wait unit there are only a few A's left to get on the plane before getting in line. That way I don't have to stand in line and it allows me to choose who I am sitting next to.

And, yes, they enforce the line rules. They won't let you on with a B pass until the B's are called.

I have seen SW gate agents stop someone from cutting in. Also, I have seen gate agents stop entire families from preboarding.....very nicely....by saying only the child under required age and parents.....they also allow any siblings, but, forget extended families (i.e. aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc.)
Of course, this doesn't stop people who preboard from saving seats for those family members, unless the flight attendants are on top of it, which is pretty hard during boarding. All in all, though, I love SW and really don't mind their boarding practices at all. Their customer service overall makes up for any minor inconveniences. When compared to other airlines, IMO, they far exceed. It also seems their employees are a much happier, satisfied with their jobs, group of people than with other airlines. Maybe that's why their customer service is so much better.

Love Southwest?? :confused3 Well, I would not go that far. I hate the cattle call. I hate having to play the game of trying to get the low fare. I swear sometimes they must have 2 seats at the low fare! Plus I hate the lining up in A,B or C lines to board. As for being helpful, I have not run into that.

I am glad you have had good experiences with Southwest. I just have not been that lucky.

Southwest flies out of my local airport. That is a big plus. I dont like their boarding practices. At our airport, they often change the departure gate, so you lose your place in line. I hate the fact that you never know when they will release fares for later dates. For some reason they decided not to offer the later departure home for 2 Saturdays in March. So I was forced to leave earlier, leave the next day or take a different airline home.

However, all the employees are courteous and the flights themselves have been fine.

Here's another vote for "Love Southwest!"

How could you beat the fare! Of course, I don't have children to worry about, so getting a seat isn't a problem. I could see why it would be more of a concern for parents traveling with children over the pre-board age.

I love the attitude of the flight attendants! It is very laid back and personable. Not stuffy like on some of those other airlines.

:cool1:

We got a great Christmas gift Christmas Day..............a DING fare for $35.00 each way from Buffalo to MCO so we're off this week for an unexpected trip! :thumbsup2 :cool1: :sunny:  Ya gotta love Southwest!!! :cheer2:
