LOVE or HATE FP+ Anyone's mind been changed ??

Her exact words were "This is jacked up" FP+ has screwed up MK. Oh and btw. She was a CP in 2012 for 6 months. She worked in MK and played A LOT in MK and after our Aug. trip and now 2 days into this trip...her opinion of FP+ is it stinks.

the only way this can happen is for Disney to add a lot more attractions or for them to limit the amount of guests in each park. I really don't see either of these things happening in the near future. Yes, they are building Avatarland, but AK seems to be the park with few FP+ availability problems. I know everyone is anticipating the DHS facelift, but all I see are attractions being closed. Epcot is the other problem park and there is nothing planned at this point. I don't think the Frozen attraction counts since it's an attraction re-do.

I agree, as described there definitely needs to be either more attractions or fewer people. I don't see Disney putting stricter guest limits in place, but that doesn't stop me from keeping my fingers crossed for lots more attractions (eventually). I figure I still have 45 years of vacation travel left in me. :-)

That's the spirit! In 45 years, they may have the attraction capacity that FP+ needs to be really successful.

Our whole family has been big fans of FP+ since the beginning. We still are.

With the old system we HATED the rope drop run just to get a FastPass that could be later that day. And we hated that we could only get one.... we wanted to plan ahead farther than that! Also, being locals now, it would have made it incredibly hard for us to schedule something like Soarin' for the kids after we pick them up from school. We'd ALWAYS have to wait in line. I also didn't like how the machines took up so much space in the parks, and you'd have to wait in line sometimes just to get a paper FastPass. I just never liked the old system to begin with.

My opinion is that FP+ (and even the old Fastpass) is a FREE gift from Disney. Don't like it? WAIT IN LINE. Or we can just go back to the way rides used to be like, the Harry Potter rides at Universal, where you have to wait in line and that's it. No other option. NO THANKS.

But yes, we love FP+ still. It works EXTREMELY well for us and we're locals. We live 5 minutes away.

Standby lines: My dd is at Disney right now. She and BF arrived MK before rope drop. They were at Mine Train before 9:00 when she texted me. It took them 30 min. to get thru and ride. THEN they went straight to Peter Pan and it took them 40 min. before they got on. :scratchin So this is LOW CROWD preferred park day at MK and they waited for 20-30 min. for rides that included Pooh, Tea Cups, Small World in the first 2 to 2 1/2 hours of the day. SHOOT they ONLY rode 2 rides in the first 1 hour 10 min. of the day. Before FP+ when we went in late Jan. like this..... we could literally RIDE PETER PAN 3-4 times after park opening. That was before Mermaid and Mine Train so there were less Fantasy Land rides/attractions to choose from. :scratchin

Something tells me.... FP+ has screwed this up. JUST SAYIN!!:coffee:

Actually in this instance, I think the Anna and Elsa craze and the sdmt are more thr issue. Fantasyland is a zoo at rope drop now thanks to those two things. Personally, I would not recommend heading there at RD at all anymore. Frontierland and adventurland (and I'm willing to bet tomorrowland too) are ghost towns at rd though. In Nov, BTMRR was virtually a walk on until at least 1030, maybe 11. Fantasyland was packed, though.

I now think that FP+ is to blame for ISIS, not Obama. Maybe if we shipped ISIS to Funky Town, I mean Bitter Town, everything would work out:) Sorry. I just couldn't keep it in anymore. Back to your regularly scheduled debate.

We did everything in tomorrowland earlyish without a fast pass and had no problems. Fantasy land was crowded, however.

The problem for us in the 7 dwarves ride. It appears that it's not worth a FP+ but it would be nice to check it out. What to do... :confused3

I actually had a fp that I cancelled because we decided to do a different park at the last minute. Heard enough about the length of the ride to decide that it wasn't worth it for this trip and we check it out after things died down in a couple of years.

Love it! We have used it two trips now and I have to say those were the best 2 trips we have ever taken! No more waking up at sun up to get our fast passes. We can take our time if we so choose! I will admit that we were not huge fast pass people before due to the "mad dash" that was required. If we got a fast pass great if not we rode other things. Now we can ride the rides we love and not have to zig zag across the parks to do it! LOVE LOVE LOVE FP+!!

:thumbsup2

We will always make the best of our trips and have fun, but I still don't like FP+.

This was us for our last few trips. We finally got tired of spending thousands of $$$$$....just to look forward to "making the best out of it". It's so sad. We really love(d) WDW and had many years of wonderful magic.

What "mad dash" was "required" for using legacy FP?
That's always my question. Never did a mad dash , never zig zagged all over the park. It sounds to me like lousy park touring, and it should not be blamed on Legacy FP.

Here is an article titled "Disney World in the Era of FP+" from Dave Shute, who co wrote the book "Easy Guide to Your First Walt Disney World Visit" with Josh from easywdw.

I found it interesting because he addresses a number of the issues about what people like and dislike about FP+ that are raised all of the time in threads like this.

Thanks for the link!!

But there is the option of the single rider line at the HP attractions. We did it many times when we were there and a lot of the times we ended up riding together.

I can't help but notice that many of the ones who report "success" with FP+ found it on crowd level days of 1 to 4. There's a current thread about how they were able to keep going back again and again for more FP's, and how they were able to get an FP for BTMR at 6:40pm when the old paper system would have run out by then. But that was yesterday, a "1" day. I'm glad they enjoyed themselves and it all worked out for them - but was it really that FP+ worked so well or was it that the park was so not-crowded that FP really wasn't even necessary anyway?

When we were there last summer the single ride option wasn't open at Gringotts, so that isn't always an option.

I question the mad dash and the zig-zagging across the park as well.

On our last trip before they started the new system we started where we wanted to start and if the line was long we would grab a fast pass and move on to other attractions. When we got close to our ride time we would head back over and ride the ride and then move. We got about 4 fast passes on our trip and never felt rushed or all over the place.

My parents went recently with the new system and did not like it very much. They said they felt with the fast passes they were all over the place trying to make their ride times. They felt they were walking all over the parks from one area to the other to catch the rides. They said ti was a pain because it was like keeping an appointment and if they were enjoying the time in one area they had to cut it short to go to the next area to make a ride.

Also - I agree with the previous poster who said they didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation and "make the best of it". I work hard and save up for a long time and I want a great vacation experience. I don't want to "make the best of it."

We seldom ever saw the standby line for HP get over 45 minutes long over New Years week, and that was for one of the best attractions in central Florida!

I imagine if someone was willing to wait 150 minutes for seven dwarfs that week, they would have found a 45 minute wait for a much better attraction to be a better deal.

So, in other words, you can get more FPs and go on more rides with shorter waits when the crowd levels are lower. That's different.
