the only way this can happen is for Disney to add a lot more attractions or for them to limit the amount of guests in each park. I really don't see either of these things happening in the near future. Yes, they are building Avatarland, but AK seems to be the park with few FP+ availability problems. I know everyone is anticipating the DHS facelift, but all I see are attractions being closed. Epcot is the other problem park and there is nothing planned at this point. I don't think the Frozen attraction counts since it's an attraction re-do.
That's the spirit! In 45 years, they may have the attraction capacity that FP+ needs to be really successful.I agree, as described there definitely needs to be either more attractions or fewer people. I don't see Disney putting stricter guest limits in place, but that doesn't stop me from keeping my fingers crossed for lots more attractions (eventually). I figure I still have 45 years of vacation travel left in me.![]()
Standby lines: My dd is at Disney right now. She and BF arrived MK before rope drop. They were at Mine Train before 9:00 when she texted me. It took them 30 min. to get thru and ride. THEN they went straight to Peter Pan and it took them 40 min. before they got on.So this is LOW CROWD preferred park day at MK and they waited for 20-30 min. for rides that included Pooh, Tea Cups, Small World in the first 2 to 2 1/2 hours of the day. SHOOT they ONLY rode 2 rides in the first 1 hour 10 min. of the day. Before FP+ when we went in late Jan. like this..... we could literally RIDE PETER PAN 3-4 times after park opening. That was before Mermaid and Mine Train so there were less Fantasy Land rides/attractions to choose from.
Something tells me.... FP+ has screwed this up. JUST SAYIN!!![]()
Actually in this instance, I think the Anna and Elsa craze and the sdmt are more thr issue. Fantasyland is a zoo at rope drop now thanks to those two things. Personally, I would not recommend heading there at RD at all anymore. Frontierland and adventurland (and I'm willing to bet tomorrowland too) are ghost towns at rd though. In Nov, BTMRR was virtually a walk on until at least 1030, maybe 11. Fantasyland was packed, though.
The problem for us in the 7 dwarves ride. It appears that it's not worth a FP+ but it would be nice to check it out. We will always make the best of our trips and have fun, but I still don't like FP+.
I will admit that we were not huge fast pass people before due to the "mad dash" that was required.
That's always my question. Never did a mad dash , never zig zagged all over the park. It sounds to me like lousy park touring, and it should not be blamed on Legacy FP.What "mad dash" was "required" for using legacy FP?
Here is an article titled "Disney World in the Era of FP+" from Dave Shute, who co wrote the book "Easy Guide to Your First Walt Disney World Visit" with Josh from easywdw.

I found it interesting because he addresses a number of the issues about what people like and dislike about FP+ that are raised all of the time in threads like this.
Our whole family has been big fans of FP+ since the beginning. We still are.
With the old system we HATED the rope drop run just to get a FastPass that could be later that day. And we hated that we could only get one.... we wanted to plan ahead farther than that! Also, being locals now, it would have made it incredibly hard for us to schedule something like Soarin' for the kids after we pick them up from school. We'd ALWAYS have to wait in line. I also didn't like how the machines took up so much space in the parks, and you'd have to wait in line sometimes just to get a paper FastPass. I just never liked the old system to begin with.
My opinion is that FP+ (and even the old Fastpass) is a FREE gift from Disney. Don't like it? WAIT IN LINE. Or we can just go back to the way rides used to be like, the Harry Potter rides at Universal, where you have to wait in line and that's it. No other option. NO THANKS.
But yes, we love FP+ still. It works EXTREMELY well for us and we're locals. We live 5 minutes away.

But there is the option of the single rider line at the HP attractions. We did it many times when we were there and a lot of the times we ended up riding together.

I can't help but notice that many of the ones who report "success" with FP+ found it on crowd level days of 1 to 4. There's a current thread about how they were able to keep going back again and again for more FP's, and how they were able to get an FP for BTMR at 6:40pm when the old paper system would have run out by then. But that was yesterday, a "1" day. I'm glad they enjoyed themselves and it all worked out for them - but was it really that FP+ worked so well or was it that the park was so not-crowded that FP really wasn't even necessary anyway?
