Love bugs?

I have no clue if this is the correct thread for this but is anyone down there now? Are the love bugs there now? And does anyone know when they go away?

Well be down on the 22nd and my mom hates them. She has a bug thing haha. I know they aren't harmful but she just doesn't like them everywhere. So I wanted to find out if we will have to deal with them or not. Thank you!!

Well, I live in south Georgia and they're bad here right now. I don't know how Florida is with them. The longest I've seen them around is a couple months.

"Lovebugs characteristically appear in excessive abundance throughout Florida as male-female pairs for only a few weeks every April-May and August-September (IPM Florida 2006). Although they exist over the entire state during these months, they can reach outbreak levels in some areas and be absent in others. They are a nuisance pest, as opposed to destructive or dangerous, in areas where they accumulate in large numbers."

They have been starting this week here in Celebration, not bad yet though.

Yes they just started to show up in the last day or so but not too bad...yet. I am convinced car wash owners are behind these annoying little critters.

just got back and they are all over the place. not swarms but they are there!

We have them here in SE TX. I hate them. They are all over the cars and so hard to get off. Makes out side almost unbearable.

Definitely there, and worst at the bus stops. Mild annoyances elsewhere.

We just got back from our trip 9/15-9/21. They were near some doorways of the resort rooms, but didn't see any at bus locations or the parks until our very last day. DHS - they were AWFUL near Star Tours on 9/21.

Side-note, we hit TONS of them driving through East Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and FL on our way to WDW on 9/14-9/15. We had to scrub our windshield and front of our vehicle at every gas station we refueled at along the way. But by our drive back 9/22 we hardly saw any. There was a cooler front coming through with rain that may have helped.

I experienced these Lovebugs once before in FL when visiting my mother..they were horrible!!!! Could not sit out by the pool or anything. We are planning a trip April 5th 2014...Please Please tell me this will not be an issue then!!!

I think you should be safe in early April. I think they are usually around in September and May.
