Lousy rates at TPA

Flying into TPA in July, got terrible rates for 9 days around $350.00.

When I did 9 days out of MCO in January I was at $188.00.

Is TPA that much more expensive or do I wait until I get closer to departure?

Dates are July 23 AM - July 31 PM.

Keep checking and check all the companies, I recieved a nice rate about 3 years ago at TPA from Budget, who is in the terminal.

Hmmm, January = off peak time; July = peak time. This may be your difference: supply and demand. You may do better as your dates approach, but then again, you might not.

What am I talking about? July isn't peak season in Tampa; maybe at WDW but not Tampa. I can't explain it! Could be they shifted cars to MCO, it being relatively close, to help the MCO locations stock up for the summer rush. I dunno

For my dates in October I got the same rate at both airports. My flight isn't booked yet (waiting for my return date on SWA) and just wanted to see if it made a difference. Must be the time of year - I'd keep checking weekly as mine have gone down in the past the closer I got to my dates!!
