Lousy administration of OKW extension

Interesting,

I declined the offer by completing the original form, I then recieved something advising me I needed to get a notary to sign to confirm I was declineing the offer.

Here in the UK this would cost so I ignored the mail, if Disney wants me to sign and get someone to witness then they can arrange when I am in Disney.

I originally signed up for an agreed period therefore I feel have no obligation to sign anything further.

Your feelings re. obligations are beside the point - it's been said before that they can and may suspend use of points (eventually) by people who refuse to accept or decline. Unnotarised paperwork means nothing.

You've also already had $30 credited to your dues to cover (or, in UK, contribute to) this cost - presumably you returned it? How did you return the $30 - did you overpay your dues?

[I'm in the UK too - have you tried calling them to explain not wanting this to 'cost' you? I did.]

Well sorry to say, but taking that stand in a matter like this which has legal ramifications isn't going to get you very far. Disney gave all of us who declined a $30 refund on our dues to cover the cost of a notary signature. In fact, we didn't need to pay for it, since we arranged to have our declination papers signed while we were in Disney World. If you continue to choose to "ignore" the obligation, you will likely be unable to use your points until you do something. In fact, they COULD charge you for the additional 15 years if continue to "do nothing".

On that point though, to be fair, deadlines were mentioned and those of us in the UK tend to come to WDW less frequently - it tends to be a multi-week holiday after long flight - rather than a few days, a few times a year, as US-people can manage. So, as in our case, we may be a year or more away from next visit - way beyond deadlines given.

DVC said they would refund notary costs for people in other countries - they are just being very slow in honoring the promise.

That part doesn't surprise me at all. The title of this thread attests to some of the "strange" bookkeeping that appears to go on with this process. The point I was making is that "doing nothing" is not the track to take on this one.

I agree. We had ours notarized.
Told guide about lack of promised refund in reasonable time and he forwarded message for us - no reply to that either! They must be in a mess if they can't even respond to messages from respected guides (ours is a good one).

Looks from our signatures as if we have the same mix. I like your signature picture better than mine.

I have seen a few posts where members from the UK have received (or were promised) reimbursement for the additional expense required in the UK. I would think that if you keep MS informed and are going to do the signatures on your next trip they will be very accommodating.

I am sure DVC does not want to test their legal standing in this matter since it is far from black an white. If you do not communicate with them or stonewall them they eventually will have no choice, if you work with them I sure they will be equitable.

Why is this comment addressed to me?
My docs were notarized and returned months ago. As I said.

Sorry if I misunderstood I thought DVC had not fully reimbursed you for you costs.
