Hi

Our Feb flight was changed (again - i think this might be the 3rd or 4th time since we booked? <3 you Covid!) and now we are a late night departure from Honolulu vs mid afternoon…so…we’ll be checking out at 11:00am 2 adults on that last day and need 6-7 hours until we head out to the airport. I assume the lounge is no longer available for pre-departure showering?

Anyone ever do a spa day so they have something to occupy their time and a place to get changed/refresh before getting the 3-leg tour home (24 hours of travel -yay)? How did it work out and would you recommend?

Also, thoughts on how early we need to be at the airport for a 11:00pm international flight on a Saturday night? I know what it was pre-covid, assuming it might have changed and we should be there earlier maybe?

Thanks all!

Inga

Someone else on this forum mentioned renting a Cabbana for their checkout day, which I thought was a great idea.

You can stay around the pool till it closes on the day of your check out. They told us that in check in if that were to help you out. I believe Bell Services will hold on to your luggage till you depart

Any chance there is a shower that can be used? i guess there are outdoor rinsing areas at least….probably inappropriate for a good soapy shower tho!

There are outdoor beach showers. They said at check in the hospitality suite is closed

We used Summer Solutions Swim Wipes to clean up with before we changed clothes. Basically they are 9"x10" wipes that are great for removing chlorine, salt water, dirt, etc.

I buy them on Swimoutlet.com

I think we’ll book the spa that afternoon - not inexpensive but will give us a place to relax and unwind before a long trip home.

I think this is a great idea.

We have had a couple of times where we had very late departures like yours out of HNL and one thing we have found is that there are not many options for food/drink to purchase after 8/9pm.
Be sure to have a filling meal and make sure you pack some snacks!

We just booked an extra day for our room. Not much different than booking an extra room if arriving early am. We have done this at WDW many times. We have a late flight as well in July, and booked the room for the last day. Depending on what room you have and if DVC it will probably be cheaper than booking a Cabanna.

Don't forget that Aulani guests have access to the Ko Olina Club lounge at the airport. It's not the fanciest airport lounge in the world, but it beats sitting out in the general waiting area.

Nice to know,,,did not know of this perk,,,thanks
edit,,,so looks like just a nice place to chill, nothing severed

We thought of that - our room not available as it is a Sat night so we would have to switch rooms….doesn’t make sense to do that. Our flights have been changed 3-4 times since we booked them months ago…unfortunately Aulani room availability isn’t that flexible!

RIGHT! Thanks for the reminder!

Yes, snacks - good idea!

Personally, I didn't think the Ko Olina Lounge was worth the hassle of going downstairs to find it. The bathroom is small and hard to change in. If there is another person not in your group in there, you can't distance yourself from them. It was much easier changing in the large, regular restroom stalls.

The airport is relatively quiet at that time so I think the standard 3 hour arrival window will allow you plenty of time.

We really enjoy it. It’s a nice, clean place to chill with the family rather than hanging out in the airport.

So I think I read in this thread that there isn’t a locker room or anything of that sort to freshen up in before a late flight or that it is currently closed, right? Someone also asked about the spa. Are there showers in the spa that could be used after a spa treatment? I’ve been thinking about using the spa on the checkout day too. I haven’t been to Aulani since 2013 so I don’t want to expect that anything will be the same.

Somewhat unrelated, but are we able to use the pool and other amenities on check-in day if we arrive early?

Thanks!
Jason
