Hi,
I'm looking for some suggestions to help my will be 3.5 year old and 5 month old baby cope with loud noises. We are planning or next trip to Disney in January 07. My 3.5 year old really doesn't like loud noises and pretty much every attraction or ride is loud. I don't really want to use ear plugs (I don't think she'll keep them in). I was thinking about ear muff or something. Doesn anyone have any ideas?

I have a ds with SID (sensory integration disorder). There is NO WAY we would have taken a trip to Disney with him at 3.5. I wouldn't have taken him at 10yo! For him, noises were a big issue, and nothing (ear muffs, plugs, headphones, etc) worked for him. He would just cover his ears, and scream until the noise was over. If this trip is a must-do for you, I would encourage you to talk with your pediatrician, or an OT to see if they can give you some more tangible advice. Waiting until he was old enough to deal with the noises, and taking him to smaller venues first (six flags) helped him learn to cope. HTH

thanks for your suggestion. My daughter has been to Disney before and enjoyed it. I'm really just looking for alternative suggestions to using ear plugs. For example my daughter loves fireworks but isn't crazy about the noise. She doesn't have anything as serious as a sensory disorder.
