Lotso? What are they thinking?

I like Lotso. He's a good friend of mine.

Hugs usually cheer him up. :)

I guess it just makes me think of a creepy guy with candy. Ya know, here's the cute cuddly bear that smells like strawberries, and will totally leave you to die in a fire inferno.

I totally agree. I just saw TS3 yesterday and was telling DH the same thing this morning. I realize other villains have meet and greats, but because Lotso looks so cute but is totally evil it just seems so wrong and creepy.

Like I said before, I would have preferred that they have lotso turn nice at the end...but then he did kind of get what he deserved LOL. I don't disagree that there should be villains once in a while and people can like the villains, but I guess what I didn't like was that the villain was a teddy bear. If Lotso is there when we go to Disney next year, DS will still probably want to hunt him down and get a picture and I will not say no.

The 7yo was FURIOUS we waited in line to see him. He actually asked me to delete the pictures. He says if he goes back, he would like to give Lotso a big giant kick (which is why we won't see him again). ."

That's what I really wonder about... how many parents took their little ones to see the big pink cuddly bear at WDW, only to later see the movie and have their kids freak out. I'm pretty sure DD would have. SPOILER NEXT...... She actually shrieked (the long earspliting kind) during the movie when Lotso knocked/pulled Woody into the you know where, and she cracked the whole theater up. I kind of worry about Lotso too, as there might be kids who don't treat him very well... hopefully they won't get in line.

Lotso is like the Ted Bundy of Disney villians. He looks sweet and cute, but he is pure evil. I think it is because he looks so cute, that freaks DD out. Of course, while she loved getting pictures with Hook and Jafar, she doesn't want to get anywhere near Malicifent as she is terrified of her. Can't say I blame her, I think Malicifent is probably the scariest Disney Villian too! As for the people who feel sorry for him because he was "abused", how is that any different than the real life people who unfortunately were abused as kids and grow up to beat their wives or kill someone instead of rising above it. You probably wouldn't want to have your kids hugging them! Lotso had his chance to redeem himself, and instead of doing so, showed he was evil through and through!

Personally, I think Lotso made for a great movie, and I like the character as a villian. I'd take a picture with him, although DD does not want to get anywhere near him.

This is all DD (5) is talking about, she can't wait to meet Lotso (and we've seen the movie the day it came out!) All she talks about is Lotso, she got the plush at the Disney store and she cannot WAIT til the movie comes out to own. This is the 4th Disney movie we've taken her to see in the theaters (Ratatoullie, Wall-E, Up, and TS3, we waited for Tiana to come out on Blu Ray b/c I was student teaching and basically had no life during that time, whole other story). And this is the only one we've seen on the big screen that she is totally obsessed about. She keeps watching TS and TS2.

She did tell me that she was going to tell Lotso he needs to spend some time in the sandbox with the Lincoln logs though. :rotfl:

Not to be snarky, but I think that people are overthinking the whole Lotso topic. In life, there are always people that come off as sweet, cute , pretty, attractive etc and they're rotten to the core. There have been some pretty nasty Disney villains too. I seriously doubt that anyone's kids are going to need extensive therapy from taking a picture with Lotso-kids are pretty resilient. :)

I think it's about damn time they had a Pixar Villain in the Parks.

I love Villains, and I can't wait to meet Lotso. By the way, he isn't the fist Villain to be in the parks, and he definitely isn't the worst Villain to be in the parks.

YES!

I saw the movie in April and i've been DYING to tell/ask someone why disney would advertise him as the good guy & put him for meet & greets?!

I think a Barbie & Ken would've been much better

Meh. I didn't think he was that bad. Yeah, he was a dastardly character, but he had reason to be. He genuinely believed that he had been abandoned and that he was unloved becuase Daisy replaced him, but not the others-- like she would wait for them to come home, but not him. He's like the scorned best friend, or even significant other, when you think about how much some young kids love certain toys (won't leave the house without them, cry if they can't find them, etc). He loved Daisy with all his heart and then she just left him.

So I don't think he's evil, I pity him. And all I want to do is give him a hug.

i agree! poor lotso

I'm not sure if they can have Ken and Barbie as walking characters? Doesn't Mattel have rights to them? I loved Ken though :goodvibes

yes, Mattel owns Barbie and Ken. That in itself doesn't mean much. just like Universal doesn't own Harry Potter.

Barbie used to have stage shows at Epcot

You'd be surprised at how many of those the Lotso's from the Toy Story Collection FLEW off the shelves. More so than Woody, Jesse and maybe even Buzz. I went into Target one day last week to get something, there were 4 Lotso's on the shelf. I had to go back the next day, they were all gone. He's popular. What can you do? He's one of those bad guys you love to hate.

My husband and I were just talking about this this morning! Lotso freaks me out! I'm not going anywhere near him! :scared1:

I think Lotso is a great character! At first, you wonder why he's so nasty and then you find out that he has major abandonment issues that run very deep. His only defense against being hurt again is to be a bad guy. In TS3, he was the perfect foil for our beloved Buzz, Woody and the gang. There had to be a villain to make an interesting and exciting story for them and Lotso filled that role perfectly. I felt sorry for him for a while, but then I was happy to see him end up on Sid's garbage truck! I don't care if characters are bad, good or otherwise. I just love to see the filmmakers develop great characters and use them so effectively!

I have no problem meeting Lotso, but I rather have a meet and greet with some of the original characters like Hamm and Rex. That's just me.

The problem we had was that we took our five-year-old to meet Lotso and she totally fell in love with him. I knew he was going to be the bad guy but I didn't want to turn her off the character or the movie.

Well, we watched the movie last week and she cried and cried after his back story. :( She was so heartbroken. She still loves him and wants a Lotso stuffed bear.

Sigh.:)

I wish they had made a Bo Peep meet-n-greet. Then we would finally know what her fate was :sad1:

I can't believe they didn't have her in the movie, and then they took her out of the ride AND the parade. I miss Bo..

What about Mr. Pricklepants? My youngest son loves hedgehogs and you can't find them ANYWHERE!

No but a strawberry scent is pumped into the area, so I've heard, I never noticed it though.

How could you miss it? It was overpowering. You can smell it all the way into the gift shop that you exit through. :headache:
