Just hoping someone out there can help with an idea which came as a flash of inspiration to me this morning!

We are planning our second trip to Florida next May, we went last october and just had the most amazing time so are now complete addicts. I am a real romantic at heart and have always loved the idea of renewing our vows at such a magical place.

We have a villa booked at Indian ridge oaks for two weeks, as i understand it to get married on Disney property you have to stay on site for four days minimum and have a reservation number. Is this correct? or can you get away with less days? I'm thinking i would change the villa booking to ten days and then plan the disney stay and renewal onto the end of our holiday. Are there only certain hotels you can add a package onto or is it any disney property?

Instead of paying the intimate wedding price i would hope to save money by adding on a wedding package which i understand is cheaper. Does anyone have a link for prices for add ons as i can't seem to find any info and disney reservations were less than helpfull. I guess they want you to pay their package price rather than doing it yourself.

There would only be me, DH, DD5 AND DS2 as well as my sister and her little girl. Is this too few people?

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me i planning this dream..many thanks, Rachael

Hi Rachael! Congratulations on your Vow Renewal! :Pinkbounc

I'm having an intimate wedding at WDW, so I have loads of info in regards to their wedding packages, but I don't know much about the VR's. That said, I looked at Disney's website for info on the intimate VR, and the package is the exactly the same as the one for an intimate wedding. I would imagine that the costs are the same, too. If so, then the info below should be correct. :D

You can book the VR two ways. One is for the entire package, which costs $3500 and includes a 4 night stay at a moderate resort and park tickets. Unless you choose the Wedding Pavilion for your VR location, then the cost is $4300.

The second way is to book the VR as an add-on. To do this, you have to have a confirmed reservation at any of the Disney resorts for no fewer than four nights. (This does include the value resorts, and does not include the Swan or Dolphin). You would also have to provide your own tickets for park entry. The add-on package is $2350, and I believe $2850 for the WP.

Also, it's no problem at all to just include you, your DH and your children at the VR. That's what's so great about the intimate packages. It can be just the two of you, or up to a total of ten people. Anywhere between that number is fine.

I hope that helps, and I hope you have a great time planning your dream day! :cloud9:

RachaelAitken, I am not the best person to answer your questions because I stayed on-site and had quite a few rooms booked via my Disney Vacation Club membership for my family to use during the week of my vow renewal. I just thought I would post a link to the two trip reports that I currently have in production here on the Dis' Trip Reports board: Vow Renewal Trip Planning Session and Vow Renewal Trip Report.

There might be some info in there that you will find useful. My husband and I recently celebrated 20 years of marriage with an evening ceremony inside the Wedding Pavilion and a dinner party inside the Great Movie Ride (Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park). We had a wonderful time and so did our guests. There were 22 people at our vow renewal. We also hosted a Dessert Party on the prior evening at the Grand Floridian Resort (we adore the Grand Floridian).

Neither of my two trip reports is finished yet. I just can't seem to find enough time to work on them (I was transferred into another position at my workplace while I was on my vow renewal vacation).

I don't know how much this will help, but we just returned from having a vow renewal. I did it as a surprise for my wife. When I was looking at the prices, it was not significantly more expensive (maybe $800) for a 4 day cruise with a vow renewal add on than it was for just the ceremony at Disney. I booked the cruise, we had the vow renewal on board the ship, the captain performed the ceremony, it was just the two of us plus DD 6, and 10, they got to walk down the aisle and everything, it was perfect!

I would highly recommend looking into the cruise option!

Enjoy!

Mike
