I'm beginning to get a little nervous about my plan to visit TL. I've seen posts that say we should get there at opening. How long do most people stay?

We may be going on the day we drop my sister off at MCO, and I don't really feel like driving all that way and back in a bathing suit. Are there changing rooms at TL?

Also, what do people do with their money and passes once they get in the park? I know there are lockers, how big are they?

I see on the map that there is beach area.... can you lay on the beach or do you have to fight it out for a lounge chair?

Are there spots where I can sit and watch my daughter going on the slides? I know she will want to try them, no matter the wait, but I will not want to stand in line!

Any other tips you can share would be appreciated!! Thanks:wave2:

You want to get there at opening if it is a busy time of the year. There are lockers but you could buy a little waterproof container that fits around your neck for keys and money.

There seems to be a lot of people that leave around 3 PM. There are chairs to lounge on the beach. Never seen anyone just lay towels on the beach.

Much of the frenzy at opening time consists of folks running like mad to get "choice" lounge chairs--especially those precious few with shade.

I have never gone at opening and even when we have visited in june it has never been full to bursting. Yes they have changing rooms. There are 2 different sizes of lockers and I have found that large lockers are easily big enough for 2 adults to share. I normally bring 1 card with me and leave it at the front of my things in the locker for easy access.
Hope some of that helped and Im sure you will have a great time, Typhoon Lagoon is our favourite water park.

We love Typhoon Lagoon so much, that we have not been to Blizzard Beach yet! I guess we should go at least once, huh?

We usually go first thing in the morning, get a locker, stake out some chairs and hit the slides. Then later when it gets a little crowded we hit the wave pool, the lazy river, eat, etc.

It's a lot of fun and just a nice change of pace. You'll have a super time!

We're going here to for our first time this week!!!!! I was just wondering is the water warm??? It looks like my air temp is only going to be in the low 70's. Now mind you we are from the Northeast, and the other day is reached 64-- everyone was dressed for summer, and there was still mounds of snow everywhere.

Next, can I go in and out of my locker as many times as I want??

TIA!!

Not an answer to one of your questions, but some good advice. We went a number of years ago during a particularly hot day, and could hardly walk on the extremley hot concrete surfaces! Wear some rubber beach shoes for walking around. :sunny: :earseek:

If it looks busy when you go in, head to the right and go to Castaway Cay (I think that's what it's called). It's a sandy area and a short walk (maybe 100 yards) to the area around the lagoon - and quite close to the lockers, rest rooms and soda fountains.

When we went last October the whole place was heaving - wall to wall people on sun longers - but in this area we found a space to fit 10 of us easily without encroaching on neighbours. They were bringing out extra loungers all the time.

If your DD wants to go on the kiddy slides you'll need to be in Ketchakiddee creek on the other side - crowded in Oct but may be OK in quieter months. The big slides are at the back of the park and not really watchable from the seating areas.

Thanks for all the helpful tips...now I don't feel quite so overwhelmed. It is always a little nervewracking going somewhere for the first time, especially when you are the only adult!

I went out yesterday to try to purchase water shoes....but no luck finding any as yet...went to Old Navy, DSW, Payless Shoes and Famous Footwear. I'm going to hit Walmart and Target later this week. I have Tevas, but I want to get the pull-on shoes for DD. Her feet grew 2 sizes since November, so she definitely needs some new ones!

DD did get a one piece bathing suit, after my telling her about the DISer losing her suit!!!:earseek:

Do you think it would be better to go in the afternoon, say around 3, when the crowds are leaving? Does TL stay open until dark? Thanks!

If you can't find water shoes at home yet, I'm sure they will sell them at WDW! There are some people who walk around TL and BB barefoot, but the hot cement is too much for my tootsies. The first time I went I wore flip flops, but now I'd never be without water shoes (some stores didn't know that name and called them aqua socks!)

Sears is selling the Lands End water shoes. I was there last week and saw them there.

You will be able to buy the water shoes at TL if you can't find them anyplace else. Or you could probably stop at a Walmart in Orlando and find them.

for Aisling: If the park is closing at 6 I don't think going in at 3 will give you enough time. We always enjoy several hours at the water parks.

We visited TL twice on our last trip in Nov. For us, 3-4 hours was enough with our 3 kids. And I didn't bring my water shoes and I'm sorry! They are around 13$ in the park entrance and I bought mine for 3$ at Payless, can't believe I didn't bring them. There is a fake rock bench area where I sat and watched my 6 yr old daughter on the 15 ft kiddy slide. She had a blast on it so that's where I spent a bit of time! I didn't mind, it was fun to watch the main wave pool area. We had lunch before going, which was good, I didn't want to look for food right away. And the kids were happy for those few hours, and by the time we were ready to go, we were all hungry. I honestly don't remember too many places to find food. I remember seeing a coffee hut and a mini-donut place. By the way, all the water is heated and comfy! I'm sorry I didn't take the time to go snorkling though.....next time. Have fun!
