Lots of Magicbands and not receiving room ready texts

I was wondering if anybody else had run into this problem. When we stayed at BWV in Feb 2017 we received a text saying that we needed to report to the front desk about our room. I thought well this can't be good. The front desk said that they needed to have all the magicbands that we wanted to use on our door. They said that the doors can only hold I want to say 48 magicbands and if your party has more than that on their account they need to program in the ones you want to use for the doors. This does not in anyway affect the magicbands used for anything else. In talking with the clerk, he said that this was becoming a real problem, especially with large parties and 2BR and GV. He said that IT said it was a hard limit and that marketing said to IT this is your problem as we are not going to stop selling magicbands. I asked if deactivating some magicbands would help and he said that he did not know if their system was smart enough to tell if the bands were active or not. I get the impression that their system does not know.

This could end up being a real pain, as the longer you go the more magicbands will rack up on your account.

I haven't had a 'room ready' text sent in the last 5 or 6 visits! And, I've had that ' please report to the front desk' on several occasions. Not sure why. I have 4 active MBs, dh has 1, and dd has 3. Not a huge number.

Room ready texts haven't changed for us, we get texts maybe 1 out of 4 check ins is our average.

:earsboy: Bill

We never get them......WDW or DLR
But we get the emails, which I can't access through my phone, so does no good until already in the room

Nah - IMO that's an urban myth that front desk people use. I sometimes get them and sometimes have to go to the desk - and my MB count isn't miraculously changing between resorts. If the count really were an issue then it would always bomb out in the process once you reached the designated number.

For WDW with the online checkin process, have you erased your email from the "how to contact me" page? I finally noticed that there's a phone number AND an email spot.

I agree. I call it voodoo. It's like a couple years ago when they would sort of jostle the account by deactivating a band. Doing *something* to the account seemed to unglitch it. The CMs that chose to deactivate bands then thought that it was the band-deactivation that did it. CMs that did something else thought it was whatever they did.

Absolutely.

Otherwise it's a glitch.

Now, you would think that I would be all over this reasoning, because except for last trip I've never gotten such a text. And the last trip I got it AFTER I stopped in at the front desk (I was there, I needed to drop off bags, why not say hi?). The guy told me that I would be getting a text VERY SOON, and I did. It was around 9am so obviously that room was open and ready waiting for *someone*. It's entirely possible the text was slated to be sent and he did nothing. Or maybe he did it. No way to know. :)

But there are others with many active bands who DO get the texts, so there's no hard limit.

And the front desk gets silly sometimes. In the changeover, just before bands showed up, we checked in at SSR for our group of 8. They agreed to hold the other 5 cards at the desk for when our relatives got there. We went out and about, and at some point got a text telling us to come to the front desk because there was a problem with our bands and they needed to replace them. We drove on back when ready, got right in the gate with our nonworking cards, and they still insisted on replacing them. If our room wasn't all the way over in Paddock I would have gone to see if the door would open, just for fun (or spite?), but I didn't get much support for that LOL. They still insisted that the cards would work for *nothing*, even as I told them they certainly did get us in the gate. Don't know what the front desk people are thinking, but they sure do make up a lot of stuff IMO.

Be thankful they programmed your magic bands for your villa door at the front desk. Our last stay at the BWV, we didn't get our text, so checked with the front desk. They gave us our villa number and off we went. To the next to last villa by Hollywood Studios. Only to find that NONE of our magic bands worked to open the doors.

When we stayed at Poly, we had a problem getting through the pool gate. When I went to the front desk the cm said their computer system is so old it can't handle too many active accounts for one person and closed the old ones I wasn't using. That worked for the pool. As far as getting room ready texts, we don't usually get them, no matter how many bands are active.

We are lucky i guess, have always received a text and an e-mail. Probably jinxing our upcoming May trip but magic bands have always worked as well. :rolleyes1

I know on these boards the too many mb thing is dismissed but it worked for us. On a couple trips dh would sometimes have trouble opening the door with his mb. We all have quite a few mb. He went to the front desk they deactivated a couple, no issues since. We go in and make sure to deactivate a couple on a regular basis. So maybe it was coincidence but it immediately corrected our problem. As for the room text, it's also very hit and miss for us.

Same thing happened to us Christmas week 2017. Very last room at end of hallway!
