Lots of Changes on EMH!

Good strategy, drumflower. I, too, will zag when everyone else zigs. Plus, we're taking the little ones who can't hack the evening EMH anyway-- or the morning for that matter. So we'll be casually meandering thru a less crowded park with our stroller while the families with 10-year-olds (sure, that'll be us in 7 years) trample each other in the EMH park.

Since I don't plan to buy the hopping option, I am going to go to the parks were they don't have a special hours thinking that tons of people will go for the special hours and will be very crowded! I am going to zig when everyone zags! :earboy2:

This is exactly what we will be doing. It's an easy decision for us since we'll be offsite. I'm thinking that a good day for MK for us Thursday since Wednesday will be evening EMH and Friday will be morning EMH. What do you think?

I LOVE the picture of your pug. The first dog I ever owned was a pug named Pal. By the way, how does one add a picture to their post?

I am not sure EMH nights are going to be as bad as everyone thinks. Keep in mind that only the guests staying on property can take advantage of this perk and ride for an additional 3 hours. To be really crowded that would require 50,000 or more onsite guests deciding to head to the EMH park of the day and take advantage of this perk. I have a hard time believing that many onsite guests will take advantage of this. I believe there will be a fairly large amount of people who either fear the crowds these EMH days will generate and avoid them like the plague or people who can not take advantage of them for whatever reason (young children, PS at a favorite restaurant, shopping at DTD, La Nouba, etc.). I could be wrong; however I just don't see it being that unmanageable. Assuming 1/2 of the patrons at the park (just a guess) on a given EMH day are onsite guests then during the extra 3 hours of ride time the lines in theory should be 1/2 as long as earlier in the day. JMHO. Tony

This plan works for us. We are more night owls than morning people anyway. We were there in May when they tested it out and I am a bit surprised that they are doing it again as it did not seem like that many people took advantage of it but maybe it was just the parks we were in at the time. It was strange walking past things that usually had huge lines and long waiting periods and being able to walk right on.

If they have it when we go in November of 2005 we will do it again. Might even be able to watch the parades from somewhere other than the front of the park, to get a head start toward the buses. For us one of the perks was the leisurely walk to the buses after the hoards had left and before the extra hours people were headed out. Not sure that I remember many food places were open though. I might be wrong though.

Thank-you! Here is a link on how to post pics....inserting pics

I like the idea of the late nights. It's like having e-ride nights for free!!!!!!!!!!!

You still get your perks except now you divide it between Early Magic Hour and Evening Magic Hour.

I like it this way because typically during low season, MK will close at 6/7 or 8 at the latest. This way we get 3 extra hours at night to do more rides.

We were there during the May test and I really like the fact that we could ride the rides when on a normal night we're stuck after 9pm (the latest time that Epcot opens on a normal day) with nothing left to do, especially since we don't really do PI or DQ.

How do you get the armband or whatever to allow you to stay late? Is it now free?

Thanks for the link for pictures. Now the only problem I have is how to register to download to the site? When I click on register I get the message: "No input file specified." Humm, now what? I am actually rather computer literate, but have never gotten in to the 'adding pictures & downloads' end of things. If anyone can offer further assistance I would appreciate any help.

Hi Linda - Sounds like a good plan, but did you notice how they have changed the parade & fireworks schedule for MK? Spectro and Wishes are not scheduled for the same nights (at least not in February) and on the MK late night (Wednesday) NEITHER is scheduled. Sounds like they are making an effort to better distribute the crowds which is fine with me. Just means a bit more park hopping and planning to get everything in during one trip! But us good ole' gals we can do it right -- slow and steady - talking to everyone along the way? :flower1:

At the EMH park there will be CM stationed at various points in the park starting 2 hours before park closing time. You show them your resort card and they'll give you the wristbands - one per card.

The whole process only takes about 5 minutes.

Yes, it's free for on-site resort, S/D, Hilton DTD, and SOG guests.

I think this sounds very exciting. A simple stragey could be: Avoid the EMH park(s) and go to another park for the day. After the park you choose closes, go to the EMH in the evening if you still have energy. So, it's kinda like be a zigger or a zagger.

I know how busy the July 4th week will be so this is my plan. (Actually, I didn't have to make any changes from my original plan.) When the park we have planned closes we can always hop over to the park opened late if we feel like it.

Sunday - AM Travel/PM Epcot
Monday - AM Animal Kingdom/PM Disney-MGM
Tuesday - Magic Kingdom
Wednesday - Epcot
Thursday - AM Disney-MGM/PM Pleasure Island
Friday - AM Downtown Disney & Boardwalk/PM Electrical Water Pageant
Saturday - Magic Kingdom

Some replies:

Lucky6, you can trade the tickets you have purchased in for new MYW tickets and collect your savings.

TwingleMum, there are now more perks for staying on property. And to me that doesn't stink at all.

JamesD, why is it obvious that this info came from the Cast Portal system? OP, could you verify where you got your info from please?

We are going to WDW in February. I am pleased to say that after reviewing this new EMH policy, I won't have to change any of the PS's I've already made and some of the new evening hours work even better with our plans. I guess some pixie dust came my way! Yay!!

Does anyone know how these extra hours will be affected when all of the parks have extended hours for Spring Break? Will the parks still be open 3 hours later when they will already be opened late anyway?

I'd like to know this too. We will be there 3/12-18. I must say I like this new idea and if it works with the already extended hours I won't have to pay for EE nights.

This is great for us, too. We always stay on site and NEVER did an EE morning.... vacation is NOT the time for us to wake up early. We have 2 teen agers and a 5 year old, who has been several times a year since he was almost 1. He's a night owl and always has been. We always did E-nights, until I got too pooped, then the teens went on their own. I'm thrilled with the new evening EMH hours! DS and I went on Thanksgiving Day this year to MK fromk 9 til midnight and after the parade and Wishes, it was deserted! We were shocked and delighted!

I am looking forward to the evening hours. The only moring hours we ever took advantage of was Magic Kingdom. I think we might use the evening hours more.

Still wondering - in March (the week before Easter - yipes! :earseek: ) when I assume the parks will be open long hours - will the extra evening hours be added on top of the late hours? For example - will EPCOT be open until midnight? Will MK stay open until 2am? I'm really curious - because we have a couple of possible morning things to schedule, and I want to schedule them for when we will be sure to get out of bed on time.
We are much more night people than morning so we're thrilled with the new hours.
Thanks for your help!
