The new two disc DVD set has a ton of new behind the scenes footage. The DVD's are $20 per film, but contain both the film shown in the theater and the extended version as well as a disc of new behind the scenes stuff.

The behind the scenes stuff shows more of the problems they encountered during the shoot. If you are a Rings fan, it is worth the $20.

DD took my extended DVD sets off to college. I was so happy to find these!

Would you mind calling my DW Sue and telling her exactly what you just posted? I'm in enough hot water for buying them just hours before she declared "We are NOT buying another version of LOTR". DD Sarah (our LOTR fanatic) wasn't even aware that these versions were being released. Good thing that dear old dad keeps an eye on such events.

When they get real cheap I may buy them just for the documentaries. I have read they are quite different than the ones on the other DVD sets. This time they are much more "fly on the wall" like rather than planned second unit productions and EPK's.

If you've already got the first extended edition sets (like I do), I've heard this doesn't add much....I think I'll pass, as big of a fan as I am I just think this is overkill.
