I tend to have very dry areas around my fingernails and they often crack. When they get to that point (even after moisturizing daily), I treat the cracks with Neosporin cream. Not the ointment, the cream. It heals the spots very quickly.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter! I use this all year long and it keeps my skin soft and hydrated. They also make a concentrated hand cream that is greeeeat.

I can use almost anything to prevent dry skin, but this is the only one I can use after my skin is already dry. Everything else I have used burns to some degree and generally makes my skin worse.
