The show was about the characters, not the island. That's what the title referred. All of these characters were broken and spiritually lost, and in their time on the island they found redemption and in the end found each other again. It was really a beautiful ending.

That's a perfect way to describe it!

Loved loved loved it!

I watched the first few episodes of Lost. Maybe a few more in between. Then tried to watch part of the finale last night. I didn't understand one thing at all. :rotfl:

Is there a simple way to sum up what Lost was about? Like the Newhart show was revealed to be all a dream in its finale. :thumbsup2 Was there a concept to Lost? Time travel?

If its too complicated, just tell me "its complicated". :rotfl:

I think this quote sums it up perfectly!
(But it IS complicated! LOL!)

I also thought it was beautiful. Not all the questions were answered but did we really want them to be? Part of the allure of the show was the mystery, I thought it was only fitting that we didn't learn every last detail.

I bawled throughout the show, especially during the "awakenings". Sawyer and Juliet - I loved it! I thought Vincent was Jack's Aumakua and cried when he laid down beside Jack as he died.

I loved the show, and the whole series. As "The Constant was my favorite epi, I wished that we had had a bigger Des/Penny moment in the actual finale, but I'm just glad that they were together in the end.

The one scene I wish they'd done at some point is have Kate tell Claire that Claire's mom had Aaron. The last time Claire saw her mom she was on life support, and I think it would've been a nice thing to include. I'm sure Claire knows that her mom does have Aaron, since she knew Jack was her half-brother.

I loved it! The first time around I thought the writers took the easy way out and I was disappointed. But then I downloaded it from iTunes and watched it several times and I think it is wonderful and perfect and awesome! I agree with the poster who said it is about the characters, not the island. I loved watching all the reunions and especially that between Sawyer and Juliet and Sun/Jin/Juliet and Kate/Claire/Charlie. I thought Shannon looked utterly beautiful and peaceful when she looked into Sawyer's eyes. Omg, that got to me. She always seemed so troubled on the island, but at that moment, she seemed as though all problems and troubles were lover. I loved it!

Fantastic show, awesome ending. Now I'm ready to watch the whole thing over again!

It was very good.

For folks who didn't, what would you have done differently? (Be forewarned... we'll be looking at your ideas, in the same way that you've looked at C&L's... :rotfl: )

The only thing I may have changed is to introduce the concept of the flash sideways much much earlier than a few months ago :rotfl: The audience could have begun to figure it out rather than christian shephard just flat out telling us (hey, this is whats going on) For example, as I was rewatching the Sawyer/Juliet scene for the 5000th time (I'm starting to believe the only reason I downloaded it was for that :rotfl:) I was thinking how interesting it could have been to see their life off-island flash. For example, it would have been interesting to see a quick glimpse of Kate and Claire with Aaron as he aged through life...than the audience would have most likely figured it out which would have given a greater satisfaction than them just being like "soooo this is whats going on right now." :goodvibes

But after 48 hours has passed, I want from being really angry and disappointed at the finale, to accepting it, to liking it after re watching it. Reading the blogs and putting it together really helped. I think I'm going through the 5 stages of grief

Ok, I watched it & I'm still Lost. Someone please break that last episode (or last 30 minutes) down for me... Are they all dead just waiting on each other to go to heaven? Are they all alive? What's the deal???

Ok, I sat down and watched it last night. I devoted my FULL attention to it, unlike some of the previous episodes in the season. We also watched the full retrospective before the finale..

Overall, I am OK with it...Not overly thrilled, but OK with it. I had to read about the whole purgatory thing on the internet, I just didnt get that at first. Once I did, I was OK with it. It made sense.

I admit, I teared up numerous times..escpecially the final scene, with the dog(which was not the same dog as in the begininng). I have always wondered what happened to the dog..guess he has always been around..LOL..

DH was not thrilled with it at all

I posted in other threads about how much I loved the finale, but I just wanted to "log" my vote here, as well.

I thought it was the perfect ending for the entire series. The arc of 6 seasons took us from a seemingly random plane crash, to finding out these people were brought to the island to take part in a battle of good vs. evil that has been going on forever!

Along the way we learned that the island had mysteries that "man" would go to any lengths to obtain. Charles Widmore, Alvar Hanso, the Dharma Initiative, Man In Black, they all wanted what the island had. Jacob's "candidates" came to the island and ended up traveling through time, making personal sacrifices, and learning to support one another in an attempt to help Jacob keep the island's "light" from going out, or being revealed to the greedy world of man.

Once MIB found his loophole, the game was truly afoot, and the final showdown of MIB vs. Jack on the cliffside was incredible! The scene right before the commercial break where Jack is above Fake Locke, and they are preparing to duel, was amazing!

I look at the series as a whole, and when you take into consideration the whole good vs. evil thing, the struggle to obtain the "life source" of the island for personal gain, and all of the personal stories, you will find that EVERYTHING mattered in this story (even seasons 2-5!). I've already started re-watching from Episode 1, for about the 5th time. Hopefully I'll be through the first 5 seasons when the final DVD set comes out.

:thumbsup2

The end was good, but I didn't love it.....

I am surprised how many people just dont get that they were all alive on the island and that all happened. They didnt die in the crash, Christian made that very clear...or at least I thought he did. They were also all dead in the church and just waiting for each other so they could move into "heaven" together.

As far as the church scene goes.....I think Walt should have been in there, and dont buy the explanation of him not being there. If Penny (who never was at the island) was there then why not him. I understand that the actor who plaed Eko wanted to much $$$ to do that 1 scene, but why wasnt Miles there (he was BORN on the island after all)or Lapidus and the like.

My only beef with the series as the whole was that some stuff just didnt seem to be as important as it was made out to be in the beginning....such as....

1. Dharma
2. Taking the kids
3. Kids not being born on the island
4. Walt's "special" ability

One of the questions I still have.....

Who made O-815 crash? Did Jacob bring them to the island or was it Desmond not pushing the button? It seems that Jacob said he brought them there, but it was portrayed all along like it was Desmond (even in the recap I believe)??

Loved the show (still), but only liked the last season.....

We're waiting for the second issue of the video disc sets, because we suspect that there might be some special extras. (Very common marketing approach... introduce something comprehensive but basic as an initial offering, and then introduce something with lots of extras later, to get other folks to buy and to get the original buyers to actually consider buying it all again! Very very successful approach.)

Hated it!!! I thought Jimmy Kimmel alternate endings would have been better. I loved the Jeff Probsts one.

My only beef with the series as the whole was that some stuff just didnt seem to be as important as it was made out to be in the beginning....such as....

1. Dharma

Dharma Initiative was hugely important to the whole storyline. Without them there would never have been the escalation on the island between science and faith. Dharma were there as scientists, but started to discover the secrets the island held. Just like MIB and his "original people" they started digging wells (one was near the Orchid station) and getting close to the Island's light source. This upset the "Others" who were there to follow Jacob and protect that light (although many of the others seemed to be just as corrupted by MIB and the island as well).

It was another part of this epic timeline of the battle between good and evil on the island, and proof of how easily man can be corrupted. The, seemingly, noble experiments became more and more twisted as the DI discovered more of the island. Room 23 anyone?

Also, without the DI, there would be no Jughead, no "incident", and no "purge." All of which played a huge part in MIB's progression towards finding his loophole, and nearly escaping the island.

Here is my explanation for who was in the room and who was absent:

From my take, this constant was created because these were the happiest days in the Survivors lives. They were there because they wanted to be there, so they can reunite and spend eternity with each other. Penny was there because Desmond was there. Walt wasn't there because he was on the island as a child, has since moved on, and does not consider the time he spent there his happiest. He is in his own constant with his own friends and family. Same with Miles, I can't remember when it seemed as if he fit in, or that he was creating a bond with the other characters.

The only clues I gather to semi-explain this constant is that it seems that the Survivors created this world for themselves to fulfill other hopes. Jack and his daddy issues, Sun and Jin escaping their father, Sayid paying for his sins (poor guy was always hard on himself :rotfl:) Claire and Kate helping each other. It was as if they needed the closure on their lives before they could let go and move on. I can think of a million "what if" situations in my life that I would love the opportunity to experience and change something.

What's the explanation of Walt not being at the Church?

Didn't everyone inside the Church have a "significant" other with them? Someone who meant the most to them? Even Boone in a sense had Shannon. Perhaps that's why Desmond had Penny there. She kept him going, was his happily ever after. Michael couldn't be at the Church because of his past sins (just taking that from Kimmel), so perhaps that's why Walt had no reason to be there. Walt experienced a long life off the island, so his greatest happiness was elsewhere. Miles and Lapidus perhaps didn't experience the most profound and happiest moments on the island, so they find their peace somewhere else. Maybe Eko has peacefully moved on already with his brother (though I would have loved to see him back.) He didn't have to wait for Jack. Now, Locke had no one in particular but I think that is fitting. He had to find peace and strength within himself. And he was like the other half of Jack.

I didn't expect a laundry list of answers as to why things happened the way they did on the island, nor did I want the final show to be about that.

The show was about the characters, not the island. That's what the title referred. All of these characters were broken and spiritually lost, and in their time on the island they found redemption and in the end found each other again. It was really a beautiful ending.

I was very happy with the ending. They gave me exactly what I wanted: a reunion of sorts and closure. I liked LOST's seasons with flashbacks to the past and "alternate reality," but wasn't so crazy about the segments in the then-future. All in all, I enjoyed the show and am sad to see it go.

This... The Dharma Initiative and all the websites in the first season to hunt for clues etc. The kids, their special abilities and children not being born on the island. These things got me hooked on the show. The characters were great and the mystery was great until the last season. They lived up to both expectations throughout the entire show, but let those who were hooked on mystery down in the end. I did not want to be spoon fed answers, but have the mysteries that seem so important addressed even if in a vague manner. For goodness sakes we all know why the polar bears were there....

I would have liked it better if they all realized who each other were, had acceptance and peace and then decided as a group to go back to the island as protectors and live like the Others or Rose and Bernard. For some of us the island and it's mysteries were and extremely important part of the show. The island did not have closure for me even though MIB died.

Oh well I'm beggining to accept it, but I did go to bed angry Sunday night.
