Lost Season 4 *****SPOILER**** Thread!!

Why is it they couldn't just "tell" Kate, that they had to disarm the gas in the station. They needed to sneak away and then bop Kate over the head? If their intentions were good, why didn't they simply explain themselves. I think there is more to it, and maybe they know these people aren't going to be leaving the island, and wanted to disarm the gas and then get themselves out of there some how. Didn't make much sense, but who's to say it won't tie together at some point. I'd agree it wasn't as good as the week before.

I was going to post something that I read last night at another site, but I can't find it again. It was the producers speaking about how the "time travel" in The Constant worked. They confirmed that Desmond's brain arbitrarily traveled to another time when they went through the storm, and that he became Desmond in 1996 with flash forwards to 2004 that he didn't understand but that physically his body stayed in 2004. They also confirmed that the affect can be different (i.e. traveling anywhere from minutes to years away) for anyone exposed to radiation.

What I found interesting was that they explained that Desmond's return to 1996 and changing history (by seeing Penny and getting her phone number) would affect his life from 1996 through 2004. I was wondering if the change in history also would affect other people, but then I realized that it must. Before Desmond 96 went to talk with Daniel 96, Daniel had never met him. Therefore, the notation in Daniel's journal that Desmond would be his constant couldn't have been there before Desmond met him in his 2004 trip back in time. So it must be possible to change the present (which in this case was 2004) by doing something in the past (which was 1996). This could explain somehow how people come back to life.

Did anyone else read that interview? I'll post it if I can find it again.

It is from their Monday podcasts that can be found on ABC.com or on iTunes. If you do anything else than just watch the show I HIGHLY recommend listening to the podcasts. They are EXTREAMLY helpful in understanding the mythology of the show.

From listening I was under the impression that on Lost there was no paradox. That what they do doesn't dramatically effect the future because the universe 'course corrects' itself.

I also don't mind the intro of new and background characters. Of course there are other people there. They can't focus on everyone all the time. Ben had a huge community of people on the island, an entire society. Just like their were 70 or survivors from the initial crash, we can't "know" them all. So I totally 'buy' that there are just random people going about their lives on the island and that they will pop in and out of our losties 'lives' as the story dictates.

I just had a thought as to who may be the man on the boat. Could it be Ben himself? It's been discussed here that Ben has possibly found a way to time travel without ill effects. Him being the man on the boat would certainly need to be heard sitting down.:confused3

What an interesting theory! It wouldn't surprise me at all.....

That's a fantastic theory! I still think it's Michael, but a twist it would be if you are right.

Just a quick question after rewatching last week's episode:
If Desmond can be Faraday's constant, why couldn't Faraday be Desmond's constant? Why all the hoopla to track down Penny, remember her phone number, etc? It made for an exciting show but didn't really make sense to me. :confused3

Well, Darkufo posted a picture a while back from on the freighter and it was of Michael and Michael has been in the show credits.

I think the spy is Michael.

IA - Even though they didn't want to get her involved, Charlotte (my least favorite character ) decided to hit Kate on the head and knock her out. With her knowledge of the island and her background you would think she would be a quick asset. :confused3

I kinda wondered that myself. But Daniel told Desmond that it had to be something he really cared about so, of course, Penny came to mind. At that point Desmond didn't care about Daniel .... maybe he does now that he helped him. So, now maybe Desmond can be Daniel's constant because Desmond was important to Daniel's research?

I love Lost but it makes my brain hurt! :headache:

I have a question...there was a reference to the children last night? Where the heck are the children now and who's taking care of them? Remember, the kids they stole from the plane crash?

Cindy, the flight attendant, seemed to be taking care of the kids. We saw her in the episode where Juliet went on trial on the other island (the one with the cages). She approached Jack when he was in a cage and the kids were with her. The little girl asked Cindy to ask Jack about Ana Lucia. I assume they have all gone off to the temple with Richard and the rest of the others.

I think the answer may be that Desmond didn't know Daniel in 1996 before going to see him when he was "unstuck" in time. His constant probably had to be someone that he knew both in 1996 and 2004 before going through the storm.

I have another question about this too though. Daniel said that the jump can be different for different people--anywhere from minutes to years. How can you pre-choose a constant then? When if it happens to Daniel and he goes back to before 1996 when he met Desmond? Could Desmond still be his constant?

I just remembered something from the show the other night that no one has mentioned yet.

I thought it was SO funny when Ben was looking at the rabbit that Locke prepared for him to eat and he asked 'did this rabbit have numbers on it?" :rotfl2:

I just read the latest LOST Spoilers from Kristin at E! Online.

The spoilers are centered around Michael's return and Episode 4x08 "Meet Kevin Johnson".

Not much new, but there is a confirmation about time travel with Desmond, Michael and Walt. Also, that Michael is indeed Ben's man on the boat.

1) Michael, Desmond and Tunisian Polar Bear been "bounced around time and space".
2) We will find out why Walt is so tall and why he keeps showing up on the island, also because of time travel.
3) Michael was sent by Ben on a mission, thus is his man on the boat.

ok....who can figure out this Ausiello astrick quiz??

http://www.tvguide.com/ask-ausiello

Ausiello: You know that series-regular death I alluded to a few weeks back? Well, tomorrow night's the night! But riddle me this, Lost fans: When is a death not a death, but a brand-new mystery all its own?

Meanwhile, I was going to close this week's column by revealing the identity of the remaining members of Lost's super-cool clique, the Oceanic Six, but most of you seem to have it already figured out: *o* *a* *** **e **l* **** *i***.

I can't figure out all of the asterisks, but I have an idea where it's going since most of us know who the Oceanic Six will be.

As for the "death not a death" riddle, I think I've got it too. My guess is that Jin will die in a flashforward so he'll still be on the show and not really "dead" yet. The mystery will probably be that we won't find out when, how and/or why Jin dies. It may be from something that might affect all of the survivors on and/or off the island and they have to figure out what. That could start to set up why they have to return to the island once they're off.

It also just occurred to me why, in the last episode of last season, Jack says that he's using his golden pass to fly every chance he gets. I don't think he's flying just hoping for a random crash that might get him back, but I bet he's picking flights specifically that might fly through the electromagnetic field that we saw on the helicopter trip. I'm sure some people figured that out already.

Those astericks are really confusing, but I already know who the Oceanic 6 are (as do most on this thread.)

We can post who the six are here because this is the spoiler thread, correct?

Just in case: highlight below:
Kate, Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Jin, and Sun.

Is this the same as what other's have read? Or have you read diffferently?

That's why the clue with the asterisks makes no sense.

Those are the six I've been hearing about.

I also thought, though, that there was suppose to be 6 plus 1. Maybe the plus one is Aaron?
