Seems far fetched that after spending all this time on the island that everyone doesn't know everyone. It didn't seem like Sawyer just didn't know Nikki's name, but he acted like he had never even laid eyes on her when she asked him for the gun!

Sawyer not noticing a pretty girl, c'mon! (maybe they are going with the fact that he is so arrogant he hasn't noticed her or Paulo in the past few months) ?

do you guys have an opinion on people count (Losties) on the island, could there be so many that you wouldn't know everyone's name?

maybe I'm not paying good enough attention!

I believe there were 48 survivors, so I guess it's possible you wouldn't know every one's name. Maybe Nicki and Paolo kept to themselves since they were so determined to find the bag. As we saw, they went off quite a few times on their own.

I think that's just Sawyer being Sawyer. Even Hurley was like "dude how can you not know who she is. And he's spent some time away from camp too. He went on the raft, he was kidnapped. Also, Nikki and Paulo have been off looking for their bag and keeping to themselves.

We're looking at about 45-50 Losties now. So yeah, everyone should probably know everyone's name.

I'm not thinking it's likely that Nikki and Paolo will make it unless someone digs them up quickly. But there has to be more to their story. I find it odd that they made a big deal out them working with the others because it seems to not be true (since Paolo found the walkie talkie, he wasn't given it). Also the fact that Ethan had an encounter with them. There still has to be something missing from their story.

Haven't read the whole thread, so maybe this has been mentioned, but does anyone recall what happened to Rose & her husband? I don't know if we missed something, but they haven't been around.

Both have other acting commitments so they haven't been written in yet. They haven't had any openings in their schedules to come back to Hawaii for appearances, but Damon and Carlton insist they're "still there" and will be back eventually.

It is Sawyer being Sawyer...but it also a JOKE for the fans....when Niki and Palo just "appeared" torward the end of last season people were like "Who are they and why haven't we seen them ever before if they were from the plane!"

I don't think Ben and Juliet came in the same way Paolo did. It looked like there was underground access (perhaps one of the tunnels hinted in the map from the hatch) If that's the case, they wouldn't have seen that the dirt and leaves had been moved.

As for the walkie - I think that's one of those things that's way up in the air. Could mean nothing, could mean a whole lot. Was it left behind deliberately so they could feed false information to the Losties? Or was Ben or Juliet just too preoccupied and truly forgot it.

I'm more interested in WHY they were in that hatch. The hatch seemingly only had video screens. Yet there were video screens for surveillance in the Hydra as well, so why would Ben need to trek all the way to the Pearl? They were seemingly just there for a few minutes, what was the purpose?

Yep - I think it was just a joke for the fans just like Paolo theorizing about the dinosaur being the "monster" early on. Nothing important to the story, just something funny written specifically for the fans. They've done that a few times over the years. Gives the creators a chance to say, "see? we're listening to you!"

They weren't there the first time, they reshot the parts of the scenes that show them there. Both Boone and Shannon were wearing wigs in their scenes.

Really? What a letdown...I thought they had this planned out since day 1. Guess not I thought maybe the plane crash scenes were real! How could they re-shoot that? I hear it cost $10 million to make that episode.

Nikki was green screened into the crash scenes they had already filmed. The marvels of technology.

Well he did find it. Whether it was left there on purpose remains to be seen. That's why I suspect there's more to the story. Otherwise the scene with Sawyer and Sun was only there as a "hook" for this week's epidsode. Giving us a false sense of interest.

And weren't Ben and Juliet saying something about the door being left open, as they were walking in? I though I heard something like that, but I can't check right now.

You know who I'd love to see that they don't show anymore...Rose and Bernard.

They started a story line with her...she was healed by the island of some sort of cancer or something and that was a secret she shared with Locke...then they never followed up on her.

I thought they were so cute. Especially when they finally found Bernard with the tailies and he wasn't dead....just what she'd been saying all along.

I could swear that there was another scene earlier in the season, when Nikki and Paolo first showed up where Sawyer kept saying something to Nikki about "Who are you"?

I had no idea what all that was about. Just what did Sawyer do to Sun? Did I miss an important part of the story? Why did she slap him?

OK there were two different scenes with Sawyer and Sun in the teaser. The one where she said something about digging another grave and then slapping him was in reference to the time that she was "kidnapped". Charlie confessed last night that he was the one who kidnapped her to create a diversion so that Sawyer could get the guns back.

The other one (what I was talking about) was when Sawyer found the walkie talkie and said to Sun that they (Nikki and Paulo) were working with the Others. It turned out that Paulo just happened to find it and pick it up. I feel there has to be more to that part of the story.

That was awesome!

I love how they flashed back to other scenes but with Nikki and Paulo (is that their names??) in them.

Even though they kind of deserved it, I don't know if I liked their being buried alive.

I don't know if Paulo really deserved it. Yes, I know he poisoned the guy in the begining, but I think he realized his mistake and that love was more important than the diamonds. Nikki on the other hand deserved it!

I think that was the end of Nikki and Paulo. Like Nikki said about Expose: "we all know what happens to guest stars." This episode was about getting rid of 2 meaningless characters that nobody knows and everyone hates. But the writers did it with flair, I'll give them that -- with another homage to Stephen King! Other than that, a complete filler episode. I also thought it seemed very forced, with the rehashing of old scenes just to write N&P into them.

I think the writers are getting more and more sloppy with flashbacks and continuity. If they have a remote idea about where this story is going, they need to plan more wisely.

The pp reminded me. I saw Jack on a talk show once and he basically said he knows where this is going; how it will end. That the producers/writers know as well. He almost made it seem like they told him when they were hiring him as a way to get him to sign on.

I find that quite interesting.

My favorite part was, Sawyer--"Who the hell is Nikki?' And it was even more significant later.

I thought it was a great episode and I actually was pretty sure they were just paralyzed, but still wasn't prepared at the end!

I was a little confused why Nikki recovered first, but I also think that Paulo was bitten numerous times.

Good catch with Nikki being greeen screened in! i should've thought of that. Dh was all, "I can't believe they filmed the crash scene again!" lol

I think (and hope) that they are dead. I really didn't like them. I thought last night was a great way for them to get some fans back who were mad about these characters soming out of no where (which tiesd into Sawyers line) and I hope its not a jumping point for more episodes with Nikki (I think Paulo is definitely a goner).

My favorite part was when Hurley asked Desmond if he knew anything and Desmond said no and Hurley said Dude as far as super powers go yours suck....I laughed so hard....gotta love Hurley

I think maybe Nikki was able to run farther and recover first because she was bitten on the ankle, remember her telling Paulo that it should set in pretty fast since he was bitten on the neck? Did anyone else hear the monster when the spiders started crawling everywhere?

Could there be something to the male/ female spider....I assume it was a female in the jar that bit Paulo and Nikki got bit by a male....Maybe a female has more venom....

That's what I was wondering - I guess they could create any reason for a fictitious bug, LOL. Or perhaps when he slapped the spider it forced a lil extra venom into him?

I can't really comment too much on this - my extreme fear of spiders led me to LISTEN to this scene and not watch So I'm not sure exactly how things happened if there is something that hints towards an explanation.
