LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

I mostly stay off this thread for fear of finding out something that might ruin the suprise of an episode (we TIVO)...but I have to know if it's been mentioned yet: The guy they found...Henry...the dude they're holding in the hatch. Wasn't Henry Gale the name of Dorothy's uncle in "The Wizard of Oz""?
Yes, Henry Gale was the name of Dorothy's uncle, and I *think* that the doctor in the asylum had the same name as the psychiatrist in "Miracle on 34th Street", the one who said that Kris Kringle was delusional and couldn't possibly be Santa!

The doctor in the original "Miracle on 34th Street" was Dr. Rogers. In the 1994 remake it was Dr. Hunter. (Both according to IMDB).

LOL!! Too funny!

I thought the episode was great! "Henry" is a great actor! He's so creepy! I wonder who "he" is. Hmmmm.... I still think "Henry" was caught on purpose. There's no way an Other would get caught like that. I don't know why he was caught on purpose, but I still think he was!

I'm not sure what to think about the differences in the pictures. To be honest, I didn't notice until I saw screenshots on here. Maybe it was just a mistake. But then again, they HAVE to know that there are tons of people on the internet analyzing every second of every episode. Who knows.

I don't think the entire show is Hurley's dream. They wouldn't give that away this early. Next week's episode looks great! Can't wait!!

But what if she isn't a clinical psychologist? What if she learned quite a lot about psychiatry from her treatment and has just told everyone that that was her profession? That was my thought after seeing last night's episode.

My mom picked up on that a few episodes ago. She said she was doing to much of talking the talk

I think that Hurley is very insecure and that Dave is his subconscious personified. He didn't let Hurley lose weight because being heavy is Hurley's security blanket. Now Hurley is subconsciously scared that maybe this whole ordeal is something that he made up in his head. Enter Dave suggesting that very thing.

I think there is much, much more to the story than it being Hurley's imagination.

I don't either.

But, what if each of the "survivors" is actually a patient in the hospital? What if their doctor is writing "Lost" using his patients and their back stories? Maybe he's comparing being stranded on the island with being in a mental institution? The "others" could be the hospital staff.

I guess we'll all find out eventually. I just have to add that the Henry Gale character gets more creepy every week.

Interesting premise, but how could they explain Sun and Jin (legal citizens of Korea) ending up in a United States mental institution? I would think mentally unstable foreign nationals would get deported, not hospitalized. I agree with you about Henry. Great casting!

This is the theory that DH and I were throwing around. Hmmmmm.....

Devil's Advocate on it being Hurley's alternate universe: it would explain several things: The #s showing up everywhere, the polar bear out of nowhere, Libby (in fact, all the characters could be just people he met--the policewoman (?) pulled him over, Charlie is is fav. singer, Jack was his Dr.)
It would explain the hatch with food (his needed /hidden security) and his internal struggle to give food up (more showing up out of nowhere), it would explain the lack of airplanes, the things that are unexplainable like the monster and smoke.

The only thing it doesn't explain is the past stories of the other characters---which is what led DH and I to the Dr. explaination.

Can't wait to find out more.

We may not know their whole story yet.

The only part that doesn't quite fit is Walt. I don't think children are placed with adults in mental institutions.

Maybe Walt is really a figment of his father's imagination and that's why he disappears. And when he does, his father disappears, too (goes home from the institution) and the Losties wonder where he went.

VERY good! You know, maybe we should be writing this show!

So maybe Shannon and Boone get released instead of dying..
But what about Claire and the baby??
All these questions.
Cant wait till next week

Okay, it is fun to speculate. Maybe Walt would come to vist Michael at the hospital. That would explain why everyone was able to interact with him. If Michael is allowed home vists, that would explain both their abscences. Regarding Claire and the baby. Could the baby actually be some sort of pet the hospital is letting Claire have and take care of, perhaps as therapy, and Hurley turned it into a baby in his mind?

I think that these are good ideas, and certainly this week's show plays into them, but won't you be sort of disappointed if that's really how it ends--that the writer's are not creative enough to make up a totally implausable explination, and have to go the whole St. Elsewhere "it's in his head"/Newhart/Dallas "it's a dream" way.

I don't know, it might be ok, but I think it's sort of a cop out.

I sincerely doubt that a "Hurley Hallucination" will be how the writers will approach the explanation of it all, but it's fun to try to put logic to a illogical idea. :)

Hey, my fellow Lost folks. I have a question about this episode: who is the actor that played Hurley's doctor? I know him and his name is on the tip of my tongue. Someone help!

Bruce Davison, been in a lot of stuff but I don't think I could list anything specific.

Ok, please don't laugh at me. I Imdb'd this guy and it hit me where I had seen him before. I had seen a few of his movies but there was one, ahem, *cough*, that stuck out.

He played Watson Brewer on the Babysitter's Club :blush::blush: I loved those books as a kid and had to see this.
