LOST - Season 2 (No spoilers)

I was thinking about his comment too. His comment brought me back to the purgatory theory, but the writers said they are not in purgatory. So I guess I'm back to square one as to where they are. :scratchin

So maybe it's Hell?

Okay stupid question - the psychiatrist was Henry, right?

Hi there, new to the forum, thought I'd speak up :)

Last week's episode did throw me for quite a loop! But I do not think the entire show is all in Hurley's head...so to speak.

I have been thinking that all these people are somehow connected to people who are or were affiliates with Dharma. I think these folks were selected somehow to be on the island, as part of another Dharma experiment...possibly selected because they thought either no one would miss them or that they had some unique talent or abilities that would help them survive or keep the experiment from failing. I think there has been one failed experiment already and that Libby and the guy who recited the numbers was part of it in some way. I think that's how they ended up in the mental institution.
I don't think Hurley's friend Dave was entirely imaginary. But I don't think he was truthful either....or crazy. I think he was a plant by Dharma.

As to Henry, I believe he is a deliberate plant as well. Part of the experiment. And I think anything...and I mean anything...even apparently under duress should be taken with a boulder of salt.

I love the show, I get withdrawals during re-runs ;)

BTW, the actor who plays Henry Gale is not the Psychiatrist. And the actor who plays the Psychiatrist, Bruce Davison, was in XMEN:X-2 and, I believe in XMEN, the first movie as well, although not a prominently.

cheers,
Lorcalon

Bruce Davison, been in a lot of stuff but I don't think I could list anything specific.
He has been around a LONG LONG time! :teeth: I am talking way back in the 70's! ;) He looks good as he has aged. ;)

I think that maybe Dave really was there and the psychiatrist doctored up the photo he took of Hurley. I think that Hurley wasn't really that crazy but the Doc. was trying some experiment on him...

It was a little slow, but learning about Rose and Bernard was interesting.
And what about the island healing Rose? So now it's at least 2 that have been healed by the island.
Henry gets creepier every week.

I think it has healed 3. Jin's infertility is gone.

I'd say there are 5 instances, actually:
Locke being able to walk
Rose's illness gone
Jin's infertility has been healed
Charlie, I'm sure, was *dead* after being hung, and the Island brought him back
Claire's baby at one point was "dead", remember? She was certain he was dead inside her. But then, suddenly, he was back and in full health.

OK, I know the producers/writers of the show say the charactors aren't in purgatory or dead but I've been thinking and last night really cinched it for me. Walt went was taken by the others but then they kind of see him, then the others were trying to take the baby, etc. If they were all dead, but then the doctor's revived Walt, he'd be "taken away". Same with charlie, same with the baby being sick and almost dying. I don't think I'm explaining it very well. But when they leave, are taken or are almost dying - it's really that they are still alive. Being taken by the others could really be being saved by a team of Doctor's. Does that make any sense or am I really losing it???

Edited to add: Maybe this explains it better: They keep seeing Walt because he's hovering near death.

I don't think so.

To me, I think last night answered a lot of questions. I think we're looking at a "Bermuda Triangle" type place. There *are* places on the planet where things just are strange. Where "energies" coalesce and make odd things happen. I can definitely see the island as being a place where these energies coalesce, and that Dharma is trying to tap into the "earth energy lines" and that's what all these experiments are doing.

I totally agree that the island is one of those *special* places! I think a lot of information that has been let drop on the show points to that. The unexplained physical healings. I think it could possibly give some insight into why these particular people are there. Perhaps one of the Dharma objectives is to see if mental/emotional healings occur in this place as well. Look at characters like Hurley, Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Locke.....lots of emotional/mental scars there. I still maintain that these people on the island were chosen, for a reason. I also wonder if that's why the children disappeared, with the exception of Walt. Maybe they were returned to the 'real world'?
The reason we see Walt, I think, is his psychic/special abilities. I think he has been trying to warn people of dangers (as in the case of Shannon). My other thought on that is that what they have been seeing isn't really him, and that his appearance (in Shannon's case) was to bring the two groups together.
I liked that we saw Rose and Bernard's background story. There has been a lot of speculation on other forums that they were 'Others', or Dharma plants.
Another thought that occured to me when Jack and Kate got caught in one of Rousseau's nets, was that could Rousseau also be one of them? She was instrumental in getting *Henry* to the other's....
Oh man, and that evil grin on Henry's face last night when Locke was pounding on the door!!! totally creeped me out!!
I was glad to see Jack's character return to being more of a leader and less insecure again.....I think Kate is getting fed up with Sawyer's selfishness, yeah he's hot, but you can only take so much of that, hottie or no hottie ;)
I thought it was interesting, and a bit fore-telling, that Vincent the dog showed up again. Glad to see Locke getting away from that dang button! I want to see what happens when it doesn't get pushed!!! I'm sure its not time for that yet.
Can't wait for next week!! Things are really building up for a big show-down!
One question, I don't have the first season on DVD yet, does anybody know if the 'Healer' fellow is the same guy that was the Psychic that Claire saw when she was pregnant??? I couldn't remember, but thought they looked similar???
this was a long post....hope I didn't break any newbie rules :Pinkbounc

I have the first season on DVD. The healer and the psychic are not the same actor. Also, the psychic was in a town (I'm guessing wherever Claire lived). The healer appeared to be located in a more remote area (would "outback" be the appropriate Aussie term for "boonies"?).

I have a theory. We have the Dharma initiative people who were performing their experiments on the island. Then we have some other group (government, competitor?) who have been trying to find them. The numbers being repeated on the transmission that Sam heard were from someone in the second group - trying to send info back to their contacts.)

Following that theory, the group searching somehow knew there was a transmission, but had not been able to receive it directly. They tracked Sam's friend down to the asylum where Hurley was living. Libby was there to get that info (the numbers).

I'm rambling. :badpc:

wow very interesting.

After seeing the look on Henry's face, I think he *did* push the buttons, but for whatever reason is trying to get them NOT to.

I am very glad they got Locke back outside.

Hmm... good question on Rousseau...

Rascalmom -- ramble away -- they're great ideas!!

For any Farscape fans out there, the healer is Wayne Pygram who played Scorpius. When we saw his name on the credits at the beginning we were excited but then bummed to see he only had a small part.

NO WAY!
I was a major Farscape follower...I thought his voice was familiar!
That is so cool.....

I was very sad when Farscape ended....

I loved the part at the end where they show Bernard and Rose, Sun and Jin, Libby and Hurley and....Sawyer and the dog :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Poor Sawyer! I loved it when he referred to Jack as "Dr. Giggles"! It was nice to find out a little more about Bernard and Rose. I am getting very curious about Libby.
