LOST question from season 1

My friends and I are trying to remember... the French lady had a baby on the island and the baby was taken by the others.

Was the baby a boy or a girl?

It was her son. I don't believe he was a baby

Me too. Up until that point I assumed the baby was a boy though.

I remember the name was Alex .... I think Alex was a girl.

Of course, I thought the same thing years ago about WebmasterAlex when he went by the name Alexi, so I could be wrong this time too.
