It’s been off just under an hour. A few buildings in the grandstand and the carriage house. Trying to shower in the dark and go into a hot muggy room. Awful. It flickered on for a moment.

Not to mention none of our special order bands arrived in time for the trip!

All I want to do is go to bed and no way to sleep with this heat and humidity. Suppose to be at magic kingdom tomorrow. Another guest claims the entire resort is out and Disney springs.

At least take comfort in knowing that Disney will do what they can to make this right, and that you will have one more story to add on when people ask about this trip.
Hoping you can get comfortable, and get some sleep, soon.

I hope. They did nothing about the magic band situation earlier. We spent $200 on them. They told us they would ship to resort when we called at the beginning of the week. Now they are going to my house.

No way for me to sleep. I’m soaking in sweat. Humidity is 92 percent. 😭

Update,

Not really one. Saying they have to go room by room to determine how to fix it then said they should be here shortly. That makes no sense! Someone outside with a flashlight now. I asked about compensation (i deal with this at work daily) and no response.

Wonder if other resorts are impacted? You are definitely having bad luck :(

Well it’s back on! The power people seemed stumped but it was something with all the transformers. There was a ton of flood water on the golf course and paths. Only in 2020. Still sucked to be in a hot room for two hours. Also will be getting a later start tomorrow. 😭

And we lost power again. Came back on after a minute. Really worried how the night will go.

Possible. Someone not wearing a mask infected someone else who should have been at work repairing the damage but was ill instead.
For the record.... I’m not a mask fan. The in depth science, in my opinion, does not support it. The mass media supports it for sure.
But, I do realize reasonable people can disagree, so I’ll leave it there.

PS... my earlier response was a joke.

Mod note...please do not discuss the pros and cons of masks. If you wish to continue that sort of discussion, please do so on the DIS Community Board. It is not a DVC specific topic, it applies to all resorts, parks and other venues, much like the Disney smoking policies. We have seen such discussions become heated very quickly and the DVC Board Mod team has decided, again like the smoking issues, to ask posters to please not bring up such a hot topic on the DVC boards. You may, of course, post about what areas of the resort require masks, which do not, and so forth...that is DVC info. Just please do not discuss the merits of wearing or not wearing one.

Thanks...

I would love an update on how long the power was out, if OP has time (and a charged phone) to post.

They stated 2 hours.

Heard reports of this from multiple sources. How hot was it in the middle of the night? You are not the only person who said it was too hot and humid to sleep.

At least it was only 2 hours.

(on a side note.... some of the other sources saw some replies like "you can't blame Disney for the electrical company", but I thought the power was all supplied by Reedy Creek? )

Guess it depends on exactly where in the chain the failure occurred...

"Some power is produced by the district-owned power plant north of The Magic Kingdom with the remainder purchased from the public power grid. Officially the utility systems are owned by the district entity itself and the district "contracts" with RCES to operate the systems."

While a two hour outage can be inconvenient and uncomfortable depending upon weather...these things happen. Not just at Disney. My power was out for about 6 hours the other day at home. My water was off twice last week, once for 3 hours, once for 8 hours. Pipes can break, connections can short out, transformers can malfunction...anywhere at anytime. The longest water outage was caused by a company running fiber optic internet connections into our area and cutting the pipe.
