Guess it depends on exactly where in the chain the failure occurred...

Fascinating. I don't know why, but I had assumed that Reedy Creek owned and operated those power plants. I guess it's because I always heard that Disney was basically a city into itself and the utilities were owned by it and never dug any deeper.

Do you know if they own and operate the solar farms they had contracted to build, or if they just purchase the energy? (I assume there is some limited power storage capability to the farms as well to make them useful).

Disney should just bite the bullet and build a nuclear plant. I know they have the authority (although it is slightly more complex than just that authority says my friend at the NRC). A pair or so of SMB's would supply all the power they need. Not that I imagine they would want the associated PR which is why I am sure they are shying away from it. They would rather tout their solar farms and renewable energy sources and stay away from the stigma of nuclear power. At least until they build an arc reactor (come on.... we all know that's why they purchased Marvel).

It was our for two hours or so. There wasn’t a lot of communication from Disney and a lot of mis-information.

To make things worse, the next night the fire alarm went off at 3:30am. We all had to evacuate and no one remembered masks. It was some sort of issue with the alarm itself. So they bypassed it. Took a half hour. Then it went off at 8am again! This time it was another fault in the system. We got barely any sleep. We were so glad to leave and transfer resorts after those two nights of something going wrong.
