July 21 is DH and my 4th anniversary. I have some points to burn in 2008, so thanks to my teenager and my ex, we have been granted the opportunity to go to WDW ALONE for 3 nights, 4 days for our anniversary.

We know it will be hot and crowded, but without the kids with us, we could care less. We plan on doing the deluxe dining plan, eating ourselves into comas and sleeping alot. :) Also, night swims. I have not been able to swim at night in 5 years!

I am going to try for AKL concierge for those nights, since my pts are AKL points. However.....considering there is a good chance that won't happen due to the limited # of AKL concierge villas...I am looking for some recommendations as to where we should try to book if the concierge is not available. We are staying at AKL in Oct with the kids and my mom, so the concierge was really the only draw for us there for this trip. Our 7 month window opens for the other resorts in a couple weeks...so...

So, 2 adults in the dog days of July for a nice anniversary trip. Which DVC should we go for? (as far as dining, I am already thinking Artists Point, maybe Yachtsman....any other suggestions on that would be great too. We are not used to eating places that you would not take a 2 yr old. We did get to do V&As in Feb cuz Grandma felt sorry for us)

TIA!!

My wife and I did an anniversary trip on DVC points at Grand Floridian. It was fabulous! Have you considered something like this?

Yep, we did. I have always wanted to stay at GF and DH wants to try the Poly. Unfortunately, we have 3 nights in a studio points to burn, not Disney Collection points. :guilty: Otherwise, we would have gone for a monorail resort in a heartbeat! :)

My husband and I and 11 other family members will be there July 27th for a week for our 5th Anniversary. We were married at WDW and stayed AKL concierge on our wedding night. It's a great choice. The concierge staff called us a year later on our first anniversary at home to wish us congratulations. My second pick woudl be BCV (they have fantastic balconies) and my third pick would be SSR for it's close proximity to DTD and the Adventurers Club.

On restaurants I can't say enough good things about the Yachtsman (yumm). Other favorites of ours are the California Grill and Narcossees (although there always seems to be a lot of children in there).

The weather is sticky, especially mid-day, but you can't beat those 4 O'clock showers to cool it off for a perfect evening.

BWV or BCV - now you probably won't get BCV in July - but heck go for - you don't know until you try.

If you want to go to Epcot - it is a short walk or boat ride away. when it is too hot or humdity - then you can actually walk back to your room in less time than the other guests can walk back to their cars or buses.

studios is also doable.

but for an adult trip would go with Epcot and BCV (or BWV)

also love VWL but for me it is a fall or winter resort - guess it is the fireplaces.

For two for a short period, recommend boardwalk -- highly likely can get preferred pool and garden view, possble may get boardwalk view (the best). You can walk to Epcot and MGM and, of course, to other resorts in area; for dining plan, that means you can walk to about 20 restaurants (Epcot resorts, MGM, Epcot). Nighttime activities to enjoy. Pool is open 24 hours (slide is closed at night because of no lifeguard).

The California Grill at the Contemporary is excellent. I'd also recommend the Flying Fish at the Boardwalk and Narcose's at the GF

...has become sort of a "tradition" for our family.

Yes, it's hot, but we live in Florida, so what's the difference.

Last year my 2 DD's made a friend on our last day at OKW. This year, we knew she would be there again, and they swam and played together for 3-4 days. I'm making reservations for July 2008 later today.

I like your plans--swim, eat, sleep....

That's what we do, too! Our DD's actually prefer Seaworld to the Disney parks, so we try to make it there once a month or so. (We're about 90 minutes away!)

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Thank you everyone!

Well, amazingly enough (and because my sister says I have a horseshoe up my butt :) ) we managed to get AKV concierge for our trip.

We are planning on California Grill, Narcoosee's, and then our third night dinner is between Artist's Point and Jiko. My cousin also told me that we should definitely go to Boma for breakfast at least once. :thumbsup2

I am so excited. :woohoo: DD4 was slightly upset until we told her we would not ride Small World without her. Then she was fine. Since we ride it 20 times a trip with them...we definitely will be keeping that promise. :rotfl:

Hope you have a wonderful anniversary trip!! We went this past July for my son's 2nd birthday (4th of July) and really didn't find it to be so bad. We anticipated it being just the worst and it was lighter than I expected so it was good. We also had no problem booking a restaurant on the 4th for his birthday celebration at the Magic Kingdom.

Thanks!! I figure if we expect the worst, anything else will be cake! :) Besides, without the kids, changing parks, cramming SRO on the bus, navigating through crowds without strollers will not phase us in the least.

Don from AK IPO called me today. EXCELLENT is all I can say. He took my CC info by phone (we are planning on booking some extras with a CC guarantee) and said NOT to email it to their IPO email. It is not secure. Just an FYI for anyone staying concierge- do not email CC info, they will call you for it if they need it. I have to just email our plans and he will set everything up for us as it is available to book.

He also talked to me a little about the club level stay we booked for October with the kids.

Another thing he mentioned is that some of the DVC stays are not being entered into their IPO system (I guess the computers were supposed to be programmed to do this automatically by 12/1 but are not...Go figure), so anyone staying Concierge, if you don't hear from the IPO, email or call them. They had our info for July, but the kids' ages, our phone number, etc, were not in there for Oct. :)

Just a great guy and seemed very on the ball! I cannot wait to stay there.
