We got out tags in the mail yesterday and I already lost them! My DD birthday party was today, and I think it all the commotion, they may have been thrown away. :confused3 I called DME, and they said they can't send out new tags!? Is that right?

The CM told be to "look for them" (as if we haven't) and if they don't turn up, present my bag claim tickets at the desk and they'll still pick up my bags. So is that right? Will that work? That makes me a little nervous. :sad2:

UPDATE:
Well after much discussion, we decided we HAD to have tags and didn't want to risk sending the bags without them since we were leaving on a cruise the next morning. Prepared for a bit of a fight, I called DME again, and the nice CM dropped new tags in the mail today! :thumbsup2

So what's the deal? Why does one CM have to be difficult and say they "can't" send new tags, and the next one miraculously does it with no problem at all!? Either way, I'm glad to know we get our tags...and I'll guard them with my life this time!

well, DME could send out replacement tags. i don't know if they would if you tell them you threw them away though.

but yes, they have a chart for you to identify your type of luggage and with your claim #s, they will pull the bags off the carousel and deliver them for you.

Yes, you do not need the tags. The first time we used ME, our tags didn't show, and we just gave them the claim checks along with a description of each bag, and the bags were retrieved and sent to our room that same day. It does work, I can attest to that. If you can take a picture of your bags on a digital camera before you leave might help with the description also. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.:)

Nothing to be nervous about. They've had that procedure set up since Day One. We're now at Day 820, give or take a week.

It's understandable that you'd feel nervous about something new and unknown. But DME CMs do that procedure every day and have done so for well over 2 years, so it's not new or unknown to them. It's an every day occurrence, and they're good at it.

Thanks. So they just go to the carousel with your bag description and match the claim ticket #'s - it's that easy? I guess the yellow tags are just so they stand out and get pulled, right? Would it be a good idea to make some yellow tags and label them "Please pull for ME" or is that overkill?

Thanks!

bags with yellow tags never make it to the carousel. but yes, it's that easy.

Yes you can make your own yellow tags or lime green tags so you can tell the CM at the welcoming area how unusual your bag looks for easier identification as you present your baggage claim checks. Yes, your name, the travel date, destination airport code (MCO, here), and the resort name on the tags will help.

Since the facsimile tags will not have bar codes, the CM's at the airport cannot process the luggage in the normal Magical Express fashion, but there are times when the CM's "troll" for what may be Disney bound luggage and yours may be picked up then and brought to Disney.

Let's start a fad! Make up index cards each with the same 3 digit number in big print. Your name, travel date, destination airport code, and hotel name in smaller print on these is a good idea too. Plaster two on each of your suitcases.

I always put 3 or 4 pieces of different colored yarn(each piece about 6 inches long) braid them togeher then tie them to your baggage. Then you can tell the baggage claim person to look for the baggage with that certain colored yarn tied to it, Helps them find it easier.,,, Helps me spot it when Im traveling too. ºOº

Not sure if it still works this way, but last time we used ME if you didn't mark your luggage with the ME tags, you definitely had to wait in line. For those who had the yellow tags on their luggage, we still had to wait in line, but got to branch off at some point and got to the bus line (yes another line) faster. In slow times, this would not matter, but last trip the line for ME zig zagged throughout the whole entire floor. That could be the only downfall to the situation. And maybe they have this resolved by now so that it is faster.
