LOST - Last Season (NO SPOILERS)

Do we KNOW that Richard is dead? He is supposedly immortal and it did not show his body, just the smoke monster knocking him against a tree. I think we will see him again, maybe with Desmond.

Why were Widmore and Zoe in the closet, but Miles was not? Did he go into the jungle? Who got Desmond out of the well? Do you think he might be about to do something that will align the timelines, since all the Losties seem to be getting together in the sideways story?

So, Jacob IS the good guy; he just made a human mistake in sending MIB into the light?:confused3:confused:

No we don't know that Richard is dead, I'm betting he's not. Miles ran out into the jungle with the other walkie talkie.

I don't think Des is trying to align the timelines, I think he's getting them all to remember their real pasts, because the sideways timeline is the epilogue! It makes even more sense now since the island was sunk at the beginning of the season in the sideways timeline. I'm thinking Smokey/Des will succeed in sinking the island and Jack will kill Smokey (still doesn't have a name!!). I just want to know what happens to the light if the island is sunk.

Do the writers realize how annoying they have made Jack? Jeez!!! Two seconds after Jacob tells them one of them has to take over, Jack stands up and says he'll do it. No discussions with anyone, just "I'll do it"

I thought it was pretty clear that no one else wanted the job and they surely could have spoken up for themselves if they did. I've thought that Jack is annoying for a LOOONG time, but I wonder if they are just preparing us for his ultimate death? Though I don't think so.

I think Jack will kill Locke in surgery in the sideways timeline and kill Smokey on the island.

What the heck is happening with Rose and Bernard. Everyone has been tramping all over the island and we never hear or see anything about them. I know that they originally were off on their own in their own little camp that they made, but what about now? Wonder if they are helping Desmond?

Good question. I kind of assumed that Jack and gang had gotten Des out after the pow wow, but before Locke got there. It was night when Locke got there.

Ben and Danielle? :rotfl: Oh how cute. My DH said that Danielle was throwing herself at him and he would have to be blind not to notice. I love that he will get to be a father to Alex again.

I thought that whole scene was just hilarious!! Danielle "Maybe we'll have to kidnap you!" Ha! It was one of the most far fetched things IMO, but I still loved it. It does make me wonder if Ben is somehow playing Smokey. I just can't see Ben being super happy in sideways land if he is all super evil on the island.

Also, the concert at Widmore's, I thought that Charlie was not going to be playing? Is he back on now?

They haven't said anything, but I wouldn't be surprised.
In regards to the mother of Jack's son, I believe it is his first wife, Julie (?). She is on the TV show Modern Family now (hysterical show, my new favorite!!) and they filmed an episode in Hawaii at that time that LOST was filming the finale. Makes you wonder if they planned that so that she could film both shows at once.

Really waiting for Sawyer and Juliet to meet and for her to say her "coffee" line. They need to be together.

I really wonder if Juliet is his mom. It makes more sense for how they've strung it out so long. But did we see a picture of her way back in the beginning of the season? I thought it was a dark haired chick?

Oh yeah, why is Hurley just totally cool with trusting some man he met for like 5 minutes in a fast food place and willingly pays off a cop to help 3 criminals escape, 2 for murder no less? Hurley, you bad boy you!!
Because he remembers the island. He understands Des's mission.

I enjoyed last night's episode other than the ridiculous amount of commercials. I will never get into another show on that network again!

I don't totally understand how Ben switched from "redeemed, improved" Ben to even more evil Ben. Maybe he was never improved :confused3. As far as the father/daughter thing - I don't remember him ever acting like a great father in any episode.

I liked jacob's answer to Kate about why her name was crossed off the list, although it doesn't totally make sense when I think about Jin and Sun.

I can't wait to see what Desmond is planning, and how it all comes together.

Does anyone think there's a chance at some happy endings?

Or maybe Ben isn't really switching? Maybe he's playing Smokey? I don't see how him killing Widmore and the totally annoying Zoe makes him anymore bad than he was before Ilana forgave him.

I like the answer too, since as he explained...becoming a mother made her not alone anymore, she had other responsibilities. Maybe Jin and Sun didn't count because Sun never really was much of a mom as she was so focused on Jin (lame I know but I HATE how they've dealt with the baby.)
I also wonder if it wasn't just dramatics. We were led to think that Kate didn't count so we could keep thinking she might die...but that's lame too.

I kinda felt like the episode was the first hour of the finale. I enjoyed it a lot though.

I liked how Hurley recognized Ana Lucia at the money/prisoner swap, but she didn't recognize him. And Desmond made the comment that "she wasn't ready yet."

I'm going to miss this show, even though things that happened in the early seasons don't seem relevant now.

I loved that too! "Oh, hi Ana Lucia!" "Uh, do I know you?" :rotfl:

Hugo is definitely my favorite character.

Random thoughts: Aaron was born on the island like Jacob and MIB.

Question I would want answered: Why couldn't women have babies on the island for so long.

That was a nice touch. I'm just wondering - how much does Desmond know? It seems like he knows exactly what he's doing.

Agreed. Miles took off into the forest without a mention by Ben. Was Widmore killed just after passing off important info to Smokey...or was he killed (by prior agreement) to prevent him saying anything more after passing a lie on to Smokey. You know Widmore, Ben and Miles all had some sort of discussion in the house without Zoe present while she was out at the boat dock...they said something important...my guess it's about Desmond and how they can trick Smokey into doing something stupid.

I don't think Aaron matters, or Walt, which I find sorta annoying.

Women still can't carry to full term if they conceive on the island as far as we know right? I bet we get that answered on Sunday.

That was a nice touch. I'm just wondering - how much does Desmond know? It seems like he knows exactly what he's doing.

I think he knows it all. He remembered the island when Charlie took them into the water and he also had the unique experience of that huge electromagnet thingy and being told Widmore's plan. He definitely knows exactly what he's doing.

I think that Ben is up to something. I think that Hurley is at least somewhat aware of what is going on in that other world which is why he helped Desmond. I also think that Jack has been preparing himself for a role of this type for a while. I don't think that he just suddenly decided to be the protector out of the blue.

So who helped Desmond get out of the well?

I think Jack will kill Locke in surgery in the sideways timeline and kill Smokey on the island.

NO!!! Don't say that. Locke is doing great in the sideways timeline. Happy, getting married to Helen, finding a job that he likes, better relationship with his father. I would hate to see him die now that he finally has a chance at a good life.

Or maybe Ben isn't really switching? Maybe he's playing Smokey? I don't see how him killing Widmore and the totally annoying Zoe makes him anymore bad than he was before Ilana forgave him.
Wouldn't surprise me if Ben was playing smokey. Hasn't he always been a self-serving, manipulative and evil man from the start?

He is a wild card though. You never know if he is telling the truth and what side he is on.

Hope Richard is okay. I really liked him.:cloud9:

I think Sayid helped Desmond out of the well. I remember Sayid saying MIB promised him he would be with Nadya (sp?) again....and Desmond said something to the point of well, what will you tell her you did to get her back? So Sayid saw the error of his ways and helped Desmond out of the well...I think other words were exchanged between them...words we did not see...as Desmond was probably the one who told Sayid that Jack was "The One" as Sayid says this to Jack before the bomb went off.

When Desmond...in the flash sideways...met with Penny while she was running on the stadium stairs he shook her hand and he fainted....and I think during this time he had flashbacks to the island and that is how he knows what needs to be done.

Hurley also went on his picnic with Libby which I believe helped him remember what happened on the island.....

I love when Ben asked Flock why he walked when he could just 'smoke' his way around the island. And his answer does imply that Smokey IS MIB and was once human (and not always some non-human evil thingy).

why is Hurley just totally cool with trusting some man he met for like 5 minutes in a fast food place and willingly pays off a cop to help 3 criminals escape, 2 for murder no less?
Because Hurley, like Desmond and possibly Charlie and Libby, remembers everything from the original timeline. He knows Desmond (and Sayid, Kate and Ana Lucia) quite well. He gives this away by greeting Ana Lucia as someone he knows.

Richard is not dead, I believe. That isn't how this show kills off important characters. Lapidus isn't dead, either, by the way -- same reasoning.

Ben is playing MiB. He told him where Widmore was because he doesn't trust Widmore's intentions, and still partly blames him for the death of Alex. He's using his abilities again, or trying to -- he tried to manipulate Lockeness into killing Widmore, but he either believed MiB wasn't going to do it, or he decided he'd rather do it himself because of what happened to Alex. But he doesn't buy MiB's promise of control over the island -- and even if he did at first, Lockeness tells him at the end of the episode that he plans to destroy the island. So why would Ben go along with that? And Ben isn't content to be a follower any longer than necessary.

Well, what if Hurley wanted the job, or even Kate? Or better yet, Sawyer? But nooo, spoiled little whiney Jack stands up and announces the job is his.
I think that's an entirely outdated take on Jack. He's not that person anymore. Hurley even said he was glad the job wasn't his. Jack has been groomed for this all season -- since the beginning of the series, really, even though he fought it tooth and nail until he visited the lighthouse.

However, Hurley's statement "I'm just glad it isn't me" made me wonder if it will be him in the end. Something could happen to Jack and leave Hurley in a position to step in his place. Alternately, Hurley could be faced with a choice to do something else just as important and just as difficult. Would he do it?

I love when Ben asked Flock why he walked when he could just 'smoke' his way around the island. And his answer does imply that Smokey IS MIB and was once human (and not always some non-human evil thingy).
I think he has MiB's memories, and has lived with them for a long time. But he isn't entirely the same person, nor is he entirely John Locke, though he retains some of the latter as well.

I've annoyed all of my co-workers with LOST talk, so I had to come over here and discuss. I'm really annoyed how this season has went. It's basically a whole different show now. I wish they would've put the MIB/Jacob centric episode towards the first part of the season. I felt like the earlier episodes were such fillers (i.e. the Hurley centric episode). I still want to know:

1) who, what, where, how about the light and how it created the smoke monster

2) what the crap is the smoke monster (we know it's evil, but what the heck is it and why does it make those machine noises???)

3) where the heck did the crazy "mother" come from and why was she on the island by herself

4) who built the temple and the statue

5) how the crap did that crazy "mother" take out the hole/well they dug and that village of people by herself -- was she the smoke monster, too??

6) what was the point of DHARMA?

Based on last night's episode, it's clear that Desmond wants everyone to gather at the concert. However, it seemed like Locke was finally going to get his surgery soon. How are Locke and Jack going to make it to the concert and do the surgery with just one episode left? What's the point?
I don't think Aaron matters, or Walt, which I find sorta annoying.

This totally annoys me! They made a big deal out of the fact Aaron should only be raised by Claire. Now all the sudden, it doesn't matter? Boo!! I felt the same way about the whole Christian thing. Talk about underwhelming.

I'm going to guess Rose and Bernie! We haven't seen anything from them, so it would just add to the story!

I think Sayid helped Desmond out of the well.
Why would Sayid tell Jack that Des was in the well before he died then? I'm pretty positive Des was still in the well when Sayid died.

I:thumbsup2 disagree with you, but I know many people agree with your take on this season. Lost is like any good story, there is a main plot and then lots of things happen around that plot that don't always jump out at you as being part of the main story. They are moments of creating good characters or filling time in TV land. I think they've waited on the MiB/Jacob stuff, because while their story is the islands story, it's not totally the story of the characters we've grown to love. The island has influenced everything, but the show is about the characters and how they've grown and the choices they have made. In some ways Jacob and MiB don't matter, we only really care what happens to the Losties.

I have more to say but I have to go! Tomorrow! :goodvibes

Question for the masses:

When Hurley saw Ana Lucia, he asks if she was coming too. Desmond says "she's not ready yet."

What could that possibly mean?

This is pretty much what the creators have said all along, the story is about the characters.

.

OKay ... how about this idea ...

I think Ben had a "pack" with the MIB when he was a kid and taken to the others. When he was "dipped" in that special water ... that gives people "no feelings" like it did to Sayid ... perhaps this is how the MIB uses his special powers??

Then Ben goes and kills the whole Darma campground ... doesn't that sound like something MIB would do ... not Jacob who is curious about people ... and is trying to find a "replacement".

And ... when Ben lets Flocke know where they were hiding and then killing them ....

Any thoughts on this idea? I could be missing something that would dispute this idea ...
