But what would she have done to make her a fugitive? If she killed her father after years of abuse, would they really put a guard outside of her mom's hospital room? Would a marshal really hunt her down like that just for killing her abusive father? While I know murder is murder, generally people don't think of someone as a huge threat to society if they only killed a person who abused them. She had to have done something else, imo, to cause her to be on the run, in disguise, and have her mom so afraid of her. But, what do I know?

Lol, I was typing while you posted, looks like we had some of the same thoughts.minmate said:Okay, here's some thoughts I have reading the past few posts:
Why do you say they were in Ohio (Shelby County?) -- I thought I heard Tom say no self-respecting man from Iowa goes anywhere w/o beer? Iowa is not Ohio. Did I hear wrong?
I don't know if you could consider these spoilers but I read them in Entertainment Weekly. Dh has since read it and I don't know where he put it, so this is based off my memory. Hope it holds.
We will get a SMALL glimpse of the "monster." "Like 2-4 percent of it... like it's toes -- that's if it has toes."
There is something about the raft and who was going to be on it and something happening to one or some of them. And the lottery numbers of Hurley come into play again.
We will see Boone again in the 2 hour finale where a flashback of the crash will once again take place. The finale may also have a component surrounding the distress call that Boone placed from the fated plane they found and the voices he heard on the other end of the radio.
As for Walt, I think it's a great storyline waiting to unfold -- his sixth sense abilities.
As for Kate, I'm not so sure that the answer is something as simple as being abused and avenging that abuse by killing her aggressor. That is a typical storyline. It would liken us to her character -- a reasonable excuse to be a killer -- but I sure would like to see something fresh come out of this 'mystery.'
If the boar supply has run low and they never seem to have one to eat. I want to know what people are surviving on out there.
Another poster mentioned something strange btw Walt and the baby. Now, I know there's some "issues" about the 'baby.' But I didn't catch any interrelated events between Walt AND the baby. Also, why doesn't she just name her kid? Turnip head is funny but let's get a name going! Also, how are they going to keep the baby calm if Sawyer leaves and takes his soothing voice with him? lol....
I think this last episode was nicely arranged in its theme of actually locking back into reality... what awaits the survivors should they be rescued (a hope many of them still hold onto apparently). From Charlie's predictions he will be famous and his popularity will skyrocket to Kate's realization that she will lose her freedom.

What if the guard at the door was not to protect from someone getting to Diane but to guard Diane because she is a prisoner?
At first I thought about the "killing an abusive father/relative" theory but there seemed to be more.
I think Kate's whole family could be "dirty" some way. (Reason why her Mom would have a guard outside her hospital room.. she had been caught at some point for something she did) Anti-government? Theives? Spies? I don't know.
She mentions learning tracking skills from her father.. wanting to run away and that Tom knew why. Kate was pretty good with a gun and pretty good at fighting. She was a smart enough fugitive to have a trunk full of license plates. It was almost like she was a professional at this. She has had training or the need to do things like this in the past.
Maybe Kate finally turned against her family? Maybe a member of her family turned on her when she refused to do something (a brother maybe?) and in self defense she kills them?
She would look like a criminal in the eye of the law but as as she is implying, you don't know the whole story.
alliecats said:Impressive, Obi Wan Pinobi. You are a true Lost Jedi Master. Has anyone seen the movie Running on Empty with River Phoenix, Judd Hirsch, and Christine Lahti? That's what your theory reminds me of. It sounds very plausible to me!!!
BWVDenise said:I doubt that Diane was being guarded b/c she was dangerous, she was dying of cancer. The guard was there b/c they knew Kate would come and they were trying to catch her. The bogus part is that the guard didn't escort Diane to the radiology department. Anyone who would need to be guarded would be guarded where ever they went in the hospital, or at least outside the door to each department. That part was a little weak, I think.
I can't wait to find out what Kate did to be chased around the world!!!!![]()

Sorry to tell you Polar Bears are North Pole - penguins are Antartica.
But who is to say for sure that the only land mass south of them is Antartica, they don't even know where the heck there are. The pilot said they were off course and with all of the mystical stuff happening on that island they could be on the other side of the world for all we know.
Not only did I get the creeps when Walt told Locke not to "open it", I really got the chills when Michael told Walt "We don't have to go." and Walt said "Yes, we do."
I think Claire's odd response to the title to Charlie's song is because she doesn't know what he is talking about. Remember she doesn't remember anything between getting on the plane and escaping Nathan. She could have just thought Charlie was being weird and didn't realize he was referring to a real event.
When Sawyer cornered Kate into confessing she was the one with the marshal, she said something about "no matter what I say about what happened or what supposedly happened, I am going to jail." My take on the whole "what did Kate do situation" is she was accused of some horrible crime that she didn't commit and she went on the run and in the process of running did commit some crimes and now she knows she can't escape whatever the original crime is. As for why her Mom freaked out and who sent her the letter & money, I have no idea.
I vote that the disney item in the back sit of Tom's car was Minnie because it looks like it has a dress on. But it is definetly disney.
Can't wait until next weeks episode.![]()
