Lost Continent to become Hogwarts?

Personally I'd rather see a Simpsons Land and relegate HP to just a ride, but that's just me. I know HP is a big deal and makes great commercial sense for Universal but I just can't muster any interest in it. :confused3

I do hope they ADD it as a new land to IOA instead of trashing Lost Continent.

I don't get into all the HP stuff, either, but I don't think the Lost Continent would need too much remodeling to make it HP-themed. Don't get me wrong -- I love walking through the Lost Continent, but compared to all the other sections of IOA, I'm not real sure what Lost Continent is supposed to be "about." Yes, I see the Sinbad show, and Posiedan's cool; Mythos is the best, but then I see present-day carnival type attractions and carnies yelling at me to throw a basketball in a hoop to get a Shrek doll. The Lost Continent suddenly doesn't feel very magical at that point.

I've always sort of felt that Lost Continent was like halfway complete, like somebody quit at the halfway point when they were building it and the guys in charge just put "filler" in there to take up space. And then they closed that awesome store outside of the Posiedan ride!!! ***???

I love the whole wizard/dragon/renaissance thing, but I think IOA could have done much better with the Lost Continent theming. Get rid of the carnival crap for starters -- or at least make it like a midevil carnival. Better yet, scrap all of that carnie stuff and put a ride there.

If HP can "finish" that part of the park, I'm totally for it.

Ugh ... major typo there, a cardinal sin in my line of work.

But it's the weekend and I'm "off" LOL. :snooty: (sleepy) :coffee:

Should be medieval princess:

Actually, it would work really well in that area!!! (both medieval and midevil)

As I was walking through the area last weekend I was struck by one sign in particular: Ye Olde Icee Stand. I'm not sure if it was "Stand", but I know it was "Ye Olde Icee (something)". I just thought that was funny and weird.

I think a Harry Potter themed area of the park would be cool.

:confused3 have read most of the Potter books & eagerly enjoyed the movies too; just don't get the allure of it being part of Universal. IMO, the Merlin/Mythology theme is charming & sound, just think they could amp up/tweak these classics that have stood the test of time.

While you've got many fervent Potter fans, there is the strong religious right that is very vocally anti-Harry and his ilk; think that it may very well alienate a good portion of the market (tween??). Already have the Suess franchise for the younger set; not sure what market they're targeting.

So many people are worried about the possible effect that the 'unsavory simpsons charactars' would impart on the kiddies:rolleyes1 ...can only imagine the outcry from the Muggles if wizardry & witchcraft would find a home via Hogwarts?;)

i sure hope that LC does not change tremendously if potter moves in that area.
i like LC the way it is.

maybe i'm just not a potter fan.
like i posted before, never read one of the books or saw the movies.
it just didn't appeal to me.

i realize a lot of people love harry and would like to see an attraction based on it.

i'll sit back and just observe. i'm neutral on what it brings in.

just hoping for thrilling, exciting rides to come to universal in the future.

I like the idea of a new land; that way, you leave LC as is and add more attractions :thumbsup2 . My whole family, (with the exeption of my nephew and he would just have to suck it up and at least pretend to enjoy it) loves the Harry Potter series and we would enjoy the addition to the park.

Mac, you should try reading the first book. You may be surprised.

i'm still trying to read the manual for my new digital camera........
for some reason i have it set for video and can't get it off........

hate the harry potty idea lol sorry harry potter

I think adding a Harry Potter park is a great idea....it will for sure boost attendance with its current popularity. I have enjoyed all the books and look forward to the final book due out in July. I also think the movies are getting more and more interesting. I personally do not like a thing in LC except for Dueling dragons....besides that, couldn't care less about that land, and personally, it is my least favorite part of Universal. I look forward to spending more money at IOA when this opens...I am very excited for it!!

Linda, thanks for the link.

I've been watching the rumors about Harry Potter Island for awhile, but didn't want to get too excited until it was official.

We hope to get back to Universal in 2008 for the Simpsons ride. Can't wait until 2010 for the Harry Potter area. Just hope HP is still popular in 2010 and the hoopla doesn't die out by then.
