Does anybody know how long items left at the resorts (not parks) are kept, and whether there is a central location for resort lost and found as there is for parks. My son lost his gameboy the evening before we left either at AKL or GF when we stayed there in July, and I am wondering whether it would be worth checking in person when we return in December. I have called several times, but, I am not sure that anybody is actually checking when we call.

I've always had good luck with lost and found at the resorts. Last time I stayed at AKL I left some earrings and my mom left a necklace-- my brother left dirty socks.

I called about a month after I got home and they had found the items. They shipped it to us for free, dirty socks and all. :p

I would keep calling both resorts, but if they haven't gotten back to you then maybe they just didn't find the Gameboy. :(

I hope you have better luck than we did. In 2000 we were checking in at the Poly. My daughter lost her gameboy in the carring case with about 6 games in it. I called a few times but they never found it. My thinking was that even if a kid found it and was very happy about it, shouldn't the parents say that is wrong to keep something that doesn't belong to you? What are they teaching their kids if they allow them to keep it? It's hard for a kid to hide a gameboy for a long period of time.

If I remember correctly, mousekeeping will send items left behind to central lost and found within a day or 2. On an up note, we stayed at the GF and left behind my expensive bed pillow that I had brought with us. It's the chiropractic kind and I paid a pretty penny for it. Anyway, I called the same night we got home as soon as I realized it and the head of GF's mousekeeping just happend to have a sister who lived in the next neighborhood over from me. Talk about luck and Such a nice CM! She was going to send it to the central lost and found and when she got my call and realized how close to her sister I lived, offered to drop it off to me as she was planning a visit that coming weekend. She did just that and I was ever so grateful! But, as I mentioned, I called the same day, and otherwise it may have already been sent to cent. L & F. They have a # to transfer you to, to speak to them though too.

Best of luck:wave:

My dh left an expensive (and brand new!) jacket in a drawer in room 3516 Poly concierge two weeks ago. I called Poly lost and found and they said they did not find it there. Now, either dh is remembering incorrectly where he left it, or.....?

Should I try central lost and found? Do you mean that the Poly (all resorts) send items to central lost and found after a certain amount of time?

When we checked in recently at CS, they asked me to confirm our address, as anything we left behind in the room would be sent to our home address. All we left was unused grocery items (and a ton of them at that!!), so I can't say if it worked, but just thought it was interesting.

I feel the same way exactly. I have found and returned several gameboys over the years. The specific one that we lost was one that has a charger, and once the battery goes dead, it is worthless without the charger. To get a replacement charger, an adult had to have been involved. It is particularly despicable that somebody might have kept it because it had his name and our phone number on it.

Yes!! Definetly call central lost and found. If you call the resort directly, they can transfer you. Sorry I don't have the # it was over a yr or 2 ago now. But definetly call as you have nothing to loose. Not only was I told that they were getting ready to send my pillow to central L & F but my mom also left behind a glass dinnerware bowl on our GV stay at OKW (this was around 3yrs ago) and when we called a few days later after getting home and realizing, they transferred us straight to central L & F. Never did find the bowl unfortunately, Personnally I think it was mixed in with the other kitchen stuff and mousekeeping just didn't even realize that it didn't belong there, but....anyway that does seem to be the procedure in any event is that they send left behind items to Central L & F within a day or 2 after check out.

Best of luck. Hope they have it at C. L &F::yes::

On our recent trip
Our group lost a hat, cell phone and a pair of prescription sunglasses, all were recovered at lost and found at the TTC

What is the telephone number for lost and found? I left my cell phone charger last week at POFQ.

I do not know the direct # but if you call POFQ directly, they can transfer you;)

FQ's phone # is: 1(407)934-5000

Thanks, I will call central lost and found. I think I should have done that initially anyway in case he left it somewhere besides in our room (which he swears is where he left it). Personally, I think it is possible it was left in the rental car or at the airport or something-which central lost and found won't help, lol.

However, if it was left in the drawer in our room--I have to say I am a bit.....um....disappointed that it was not sent to us by the resort. It's not like they didn't know who left it, and of course have our home address, even without us calling to inquire about it. I just keep telling myself he MUST be wrong about where he left it--because surely the housekeeper/resort would have sent it or called. We have had the same housekeeper for three trips this year and always tip her very very well. She always does a great job.

I actually have called Central Lost and Found about my son's gameboy. They only have items that were lost at the four parks, not left in rooms. They keep items for a variable amount of time; for gameboys, it is three months. I have called GF, where we stayed, several times to see whether it had been turned it. I share your disappointment that if it had been left in the room, nobody turned it in or returned it to you. My son thought that he had left it in the mini bar of the room. Of course, he is 6yo and so he could have left it anywhere. I know they check the mini bars every day, so if it had been left there, it would have been found.

Hmmm.....:scratchin sounds like another case of what one CM says is Gospel truth another swears is just the opposite:rolleyes: Sometimes I really wish they'd get it together.

FWIW though, it can't hurt to call and ask. I just posted as to my experience which both times they said things get sent to the Central L & F. The time with the dinner dish, the front desk at OKW actually did transfer me to the Central L & F. Maybe it's changed, maybe the CM you spoke to was misinformed:confused3 but it never hurts to call and ask.::yes::

Sorry to hear though that after calling Central L & F that you still had no luck delilah.:(

Personally I wouldn't hold my breath for something left more than a week or two ago. All unclaimed lost and found items end up at Cast Connection backstage where they are sold at greatly reduced prices. I've seen very expensive cameras, Gameboys, jewelry, TONS of clothes, you name it back there when I've gone with CM friends.

At the resorts items are generally held for about a week, then sent to CC. At the parks, it's a day and they are sent on their way.

Wow Anne! That's one I haven't heard before. Very interesting:scratchin

Thanks for the heads up::yes:: :wave2:

I left my cell phone charger on 10/24. It took five telephone calls to POFQ, but someone finally called me back and mailed it back to me.

Thanks for the advise, I had no idea that they would mail things that guest had left.

to the OP: why did you wait until now to try to locate an item lost in JULY? Had you called earlier, your chances would've been better (unless it was found by another guest). I'm with ducklite that lost things are not held too long. Also things lost in the parks vs lost in the resorts are probably held in different locations, but all end up in the same dumping area at the end.

We have never lost anything but have left several things in our room which have always been returned, sometimes before we knew they were missing. On one occasion, while a CBR, DW made me get rid of a pair of tennis shoes she decided we no longer fit for wear. I left them at CBR. When we got home there was a card asking if we wanted our "lost item" returned.
