:( We just got back from the vets office where we had to have our 20 year old baby euthanized. She had been having minor seizures (little twitches sort of) and had a horrific (Grand Mal) one yesterday, the worst ever and we couldn't watch her suffer anymore. She had lost a ton of weight even though we had been feeding her constantly and whatever she wanted. She was skin and bones no matter what we gave her to eat. It was so hard but my DH and I were with her til the end and she purred til her little heart stopped. It broke my heart. We have had her since my DH and I have been together and it hit me tonight that she was the first one who felt my DS move and he is 11 now!! It tore me up remembering that. I'll never forget her lying on my barely pregnant belly and then scampering off and staring back at it like it had kicked her which apparently he had!! I smiled through my tears, but I she had been through everything with us, every apartment, house, up, down, birth, death. My DH just said I hate February my Mum died in February and now we had to put Tigger down in February too. This is the worst month. Sorry this is so long, but I had to vent to my DIS friends. This house is so empty and my lap is so empty cause I always DIS with Tigger on my lap and it is cold and empty now.

It sounds like you lost an important part of the family today and I am very sorry to hear that. I hope your cute memories of Tigger will bring you some peace. :grouphug:

I am so sorry for your loss, I lost my 20 year old white cat a year ago this Feb ( Feb is a horrible month for me too!) I was leaving on a ski trip and I had to take him to my vet and have him put to sleep, it was like he couldn't last another week, he was my best friend and had been through alot with me........like you said a few moves, a few men and many heartbreaks but he was always there. We both were lucky that our sweethearts lived to be 20. His last few years, he too was very thing, I said he kinda looked like road kill but he was always loving and always waiting on his next meal. I am getting ready for another loss here probably soon, my little Binky will be 18 and she too is starting to fail, Animals are such a huge part of my life and the unconditional love they bestow upon us is a blessing. Your kitty had a wonderful and long life and he will be in your heart forever

I am soooo sorry for your sadness... i can feel for you as I watch my own 19 year old friend who is heading down that same path... she is such a part of me... I know exactly what you mean... when you look back at your life.. everything you have been through... your kitty has always been a part of it.. every piece of furniture.. every furry black shirt... every broken ornament on the tree... so many things.. yes.. those memories bring you sadness right now.. but they will soon bring you comfort.. because everywhere you look.. everywhere you sit.. you will feel her there with you... and she will be... It's a great that she got to spend such and long and loving time with you.... and always know you made the right choice... a difficult, unselfish choice... May you find peace in that.

Kathy

Oh she purred,my kitty did that when we had too do the same thing. :grouphug:

I am so sorry. I know your sweet Tigger knew she was loved--she was as lucky to have you as you were to have her. I can't imagine losing a baby you've had that long...my heart is breaking for you. :guilty:

So very sorry you lost your beloved Tigger. I've been there and I know exactly what you are going through.

Oh honey, I am so sorry for your loss :( I have three babies as well and I try not to think about how I will go through that some day. I have been through a few and it never ever gets easier. It is like losing a child. But you had so many wonderful memories and good times with your baby and that will last forever. I'm not sure what you believe in personally, but I believe in Heaven and believe your baby is up there, playing, having fun and eating the finest caviar ;) Take care of yourself.

I want you to know that you did the very best thing for Tigger and she knew in the end that you were releiving her of all her pain. You let her go peacefully. She will never be truly gone. You will always remember her soft fur, and the way she jumped when your Baby (now healthy child) kicked in your belly. When you need her most, she will come to you. It may be the sound of a familiar purr on the wind, or the touch of her tail against your arm, when no one else is around... she is not truly gone. Know that in your sorrow, you loved her and she knew that love, and went in peace.

Many hugs to you and your family in this trying time.

The way to Cat Heaven is a field of sweet grass
where crickets and butterflies play.

A cat may be late in getting to Heaven . . .
there's so much fun on the way!
But an angel will wait
at the yellow front door,
wait til a kitty
comes home.

And when she arrives,
he'll give her a kiss
and some milk
in a bowl all her own.

There are trees
in Cat Heaven,
trees made just for cats,
trees growing
so green and so high.

But no one gets stuck in a tree
anymore --
if a cat wants down,
she will fly!

And oh the toys,
kitty toys everywhere,
thousands and thousands
go by.

There are buttons and baubles
and small cotton mice --
there is catnip afloat
in the sky!

There are angels,
of course,
with soft angel laps
where kitties can purr
loud and strong.

The angels will rub
kitties' noses and ears
and sing them
a Cat Heaven song.

And when cats are hungry,
there's God's kitchen counter
all covered with
white kitty dishes,
full of tuna and salmon
and mounds of sardines,
and wonderful little pink fishes.

The cats in Cat Heaven
are so loved and spoiled
God lets them all
lie on his bed . . .
He walks in His garden
with a good black book
and a kitty
asleep on His head.

Then when a cat needs,
she may just simply ponder
and watch the blue world deep and wide . . .

She will watch the old house
where she once lived and wandered,
and the people who loved her inside.

All cats love Heaven,
they know the way there,
they know where
the angel cats fly.

They'll run past the stars
and the moon and the sun . . .
. . . to curl up with God in the sky.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
