Loss of points vs RCI or Sell ?

I have some DVC points that must either be used
soon or booked into the RCI program (whatever that is?)
according to the guest services person I was speaking with today. I wanted
to use Disney member points this coming January
but, I don't have enough points for the 2012 year and can only
borrow 200 points from 2013.....

So, here's my questions:

1. Should I try to sell my points to someone ? If so - where and for how much??

2. Should I move the points over to RCI?
This all happened because I had to cancel a January 2012 reservation due to a cancer diagnosis and subsequent radiation and chemo. I wanted to do redo for next january and ran into this problem.

That is a personal decision that you will need to answer for yourself. The DIS has a DVC Rent/Trade Board where members may rent their points. Depending on the status of the points they typically rent for $7 - $12 per point. The DIS has a sponsor - www.DVCrequest.com - where members can rent their points with assistance from the company and many have had great success using that service. Be sure to read the **How to use this Board** thread at the top of the Rent/Trade Board. There is some helpful information there about renting. It sounds as though these points cannot be banked for later use so using them (renting) or banking them into WPC would be your only options. if they can be banked, that might be a better use though and also would extend their useful life by another 12 months.

2. Should I move the points over to RCI?

You would be banking these points in the DVC World Passport Collection where you can get an additional 2 years to make a reservation thru the DVC/RCI resort options available. MS can assist with that process.

Were the points you are referring to already banked from another use year? If not, MS will usually do a one-time late banking exception. If these are banked points then unfortunately, the MS rep was right. Good luck and sorry to hear about your health issues. The good news is that points seem to rent pretty quickly these days at least, so I don't think you will have any trouble getting some money for them. Wishing you well,
