Losing weight for WDW?

Hi all,

I am also trying to loose weight before our trip at the end of Sept. DH and I are doing WW. So far so good! We are following their suggested meal plans and we see an avg. wt. loss of 1 - 2lbs a week. I'm hoping to be down to or below 200 by our trip. I want my clothes to be loose fitting! We will be on the free ddp but we figure with all the walking and swimming our indulgences will be walked and sweated off! :rotfl:

Activity points are hard for me. I have severe RA so some days I can do the Walk Away the Pounds DVD no problem and then other days I can't barely manage to get dressed so it's touch and go. But they do include your usual activities like doing laundry, casual walking as points so that helps.

To keep the motivation I like to read the WW boards (I do online, not one for meetings). Also, as weird as this may sound, I read some of the not so nice postings on the dis boards about 'fat' people and all the tsk tsk'ing that goes on with those. Anger motivates me for some reason. Deep down I know I'm doing it for myself and that I will never meet those people irl but in some odd way it motivates me to keep making healthier choices when that big ol bar of chocolate is calling my name. I guess it's a 'in your face' mentality...

My trip to WDW is so my inspiration. I went last March and my feet were aching not long into the first day. The rest of me was fine, but my feet were hurting from hauling my big butt around.

I'm not counting my Oct trip (see sig) because I'm only going to be going to Epcot, so my next real trip is next May. By then I hope to lose about 50 - 60 lbs (trust me, I have it to lose).

I've done WW before and lost about 30 lbs. I'm not doing it now (because I don't have the extra money), but I am exercising. I just started this week. The exercise is a lot easier to me than watching what I eat. But I'm trying to tell myself, as I pass McD's "I can have french fries in Disney World!"

You are so funny... believe me I have to lose a lot of weight too 60++++ ha! ha! and I'm doing exactly what you are doing... loosing some weight and telling myself, "I'll have that food at Disney" only have 4 more months to go... ha! ha!

I wanted to lose 20# before our trip in one month. I've only lost about 12, but hopefully I lose a few more in the next few weeks. I'm not really "on a diet" or on WW I'm just watching what I eat and eating more fiber. I have a high (about 5 grams) fiber cereal in the a.m. usually with dried blueberries (from Sams Club-yummy!) or bananas. And for snack I no longer have cookies or potato chips, but something better for me like baby carrots or high fiber bread (Milton's) with peanut butter. I'm trying not to eat too many empty calories.

Now that we are 4 weeks (today) away from going, I'll be stepping up on my walking every night (July was just unseasonably hot this year-too hot to walk even at night) with my mom and DD6. Also, I'm going to go back to something I did in June 2002, before that trip. If I want dessert at night I have sugar free jello with a little Cool Whip (Low fat) or Reddi whip on it. Feels a little decadent, but so few calories.

Besides looking thinner in our WDW pictures (and of course being healthier) my other motivation is that I bought some of my vacations clothes over the last few months, 1 size smaller than I normally wear. So, if I want to wear my new clothes, I'll have to fit in them. If I don't, I can still return them, as they still have the tags on them.

Me too! I want to look thinner in our photos. LOL we leave in 2 weeks and I ahve lost 10 lbs. over the summer doing the Wish board and watching what I eat. I might not make it into the new shorts and dress I bought for the trip. They still fit rather snug and the TOM is coming right when we leave for our trip! My goal was 20 lbs. SO I'm only half way. Would love to lose 5 more before we leave in 15 days. Is that possible without starving?

Add me to this list...ONE MONTH to go and I want to drop 10 lbs! I have about 20 to drop but 10 is realistic. MY FIRST step was WATER WATER WATER! I hate WATER! I am trying to force down ALOT...normal consumption MAYBE ONE .5 liter a day. I KNOW SO BAD. Also I am eating the same stuff daily. I have a WW yogurt for breakfast or a Kashi Bar (tons of FIBER) a BIG salad for lunch with cucumbers, tomato, alittle mozarella cheese, grilled chicken and fat free vinegarette dressing. Dinner FISH baked or sauteed shrimp with a veggie.

Seems to be working. NOT MUCH VARIETY BUT I will get that when I get to WDW. I would love recipes or ideas for stuff to eat. :thumbsup2 Good luck and lets stay motivated TOGETHER. :grouphug:

I'm here again for inspiration!!! Went to Curves 2 x's so far this week and did the treadmill 2 x's as well. I need to keep up with drinking water...

I picked a Wedding Dress last night and I looked good in it but still want to lose a few #s...at least 15 by my wedding trip...my body is so unproportioned, I would have to get it altered anyway!!! :)

Good luck to all of you...WW is great, drink water and just try to move a little more...it will do good for all of the walking in the World...

:cheer2:

All the best,
Lauren

Great idea!! I started in March and lost 30 lbs before our trip at the end of july. It really helped me feel better about myself and it helped me not to be so miserable in the heat. Good luck. Just to let you know I only gained 2lbs while in WDW and It is off plus a few more. So keep up the good work!!!!

Just to let you guys know how your post motivated me. I wanted to lose 10 by Sept 18. Since I posted on the thread last week, I started doing WW again. I have lost 2# since starting. Not doing much excercise, just walking with a friend or husband. Good Luck to everyone!! :cool1:

I'm right there with you guys!

I have three motivations: 1) a wedding we're going to in October where I'll meet all of DH's coworkers, 2) Christmas when we see my MIL again, who is always beautiful, and 3) our Disney trip in May 2007.

We are also done having children -- my youngest will be two years old in a month . . . But I gained almost 60 pounds when pregnant with her, and I STILL have 15 to lose. I've been trying for a year and a half!

I've done WW in the past, and it WORKS. But I just can't do it now. I've tried twice and I just can't stick to it. It's SO little food! And honestly, I don't want to eat like that my whole life, so I need to find a plan that I can LIVE with. Basically, I need to somehow cut out the junk I eat. If I could just stop eating sugary treats, I know I'd drop the weight!

I just joined the YMCA and am really enjoying it. We have a BEAUTIFUL one, and my kids are really happy in the nursery, so I'm hoping that exercise can take care of my problem! . . .

Anyways, I just wanted to commiserate. Good luck to everyone!

I'm with you, ladies! I leave in 4 weeks and still have 10 pounds to shed. I'm biting my nails thinking about it. I'm between sizes right now and what did I do, I bought some vacation clothes in the smaller size. I've got to get moving. I joined ediets last year and have lost a total of 30 pounds since last Sept. I have some great recipes if anyone is interested.
Good luck to all. I'm subbing for support and to give if anyone needs it! :thumbsup2

Glad to hear everyones doing well. I'm still doing ok (didn't lose this week) but I'm trying to stay on track. Exercise time is still difficult to find - but once school starts again I should have a little more time when DS7 goes back :( . Hard to believe hes starting the 2nd grade - time flies!

I did walk 2times w/my kids this week - its not the pumped up walk it should be but its exercise. I did try my size 14 jeans and they fit so the size 16 and size 18 jeans are gone :cheer2: ! I have a treadmill too so I should be doing that during nap time - but chasing after and waiting on 3 kids all day is exhausting. I just am so tired. I suppose the exercise would help that too.

I wish my DH would join me and try to lose some weight. I keep telling him when we go to WDW its going to be hot and if he lost 30-40 lbs he might feel not as uncomfortable as he would if he didn't lose the weight. What do I know? :rotfl:

Well anyway I just wanted to post something this week - hope I didn't ramble on. I keep getting interupted by "MOM!" :rotfl2: Best wishes to all.

Joanne

I can totally relate to the running around with 3 kids. We have a 4, 2, and 5 mo. and it seems like it never stops until around 9p.m. (when the 2 yr old stops trying to sneak out of bed).
At that point I can't even THINK about exercising to any perky type workout guru on the DVD. I try doing it during naps but there are days when THOSE don't even happen!
But school is starting soon, 4yr old will be in preschool three times a week so that will help a little!!
Good luck and we can do it!
:thumbsup2

This is a great motivator!!! I want to lose 12 more pounds. I belong to Curves, but didn't have a spare minute this summer to go! DH created a "new" diet for us. Eat regularly for B, L & D, but nothing in between. I lost 5# so far eating like that :thumbsup2 . Let's hope it wasn't water weight, cause I have quite a few more to go!!!

DH didn't need to lose a pound, but he started this with me, to get me going. Now that I've seen results, I want to keep going. He, however, has gone back to "regular" eating habits. This thread will be a great motivator and inspiration!!!

I've been trying to do WW withought the meeting too. Prior to my last pregnagcy I had lost 25lbs. I've been trying for the last couple of weeks but DD is only 3.5 months old and I just can't stick to it KWIM. I'm hoping to lose 30lbs before our trip in Feb. but I'll be happy with 15lbs.
I love the idea of the savings. Mayb I'll try that for incentive.

I feel your pain!! My DD is also 3 months old and it is so hard right now. I'm thinking once my DSs go back to school in a couple of weeks it'll be easier for me. I still have 40 lbs to loose to get back to where I was before I was pregnant. I'm having a hard time with yoyoing right now. I can be up or down 4 lbs on any given day.

Stick in there...eventually we'll get there.

I checked the scale today and I am only 8.5 lbs away from my goal of 200 by WDW!!! HOORAY!
Hopefully I can do it. :thumbsup2

I always go on a Pre-Disney diet!!! We go in May most every year and I always start in March so I can lose my winter layer of fat. Go ladies :cool1: Stick to those wieght loss plans. My youngest is now 15 so I cannot blame my wieght on being pg anymore.
Once your weight is off be sure and never let yourself go over your ideal weight by 10 pounds. I have done this for years and after losing 40 pounds of "baby fat" I never want to have to lose over 10 pounds again.

Just checking in...

I went to my WW meeting this week and I've lost a total of 10 lbs so far. YEAH!!!!!!!! so I'm 6 weeks into it and even though I hate paying for it, it's keeping me on track. Now I just counted and I have 20 weeks exactly til my next DW trip in 1/07. So hopefully, (crossing my fingers), I can lose a lb a week until then and I 'll be down 20 lbs more!!

Oh to fit in a size I haven't been in for the last 6+ years!!

Keep it up everyone. We can do it!

After reading everyones post I just wanted to add my two cents in for what it's worth. After having 5 kids and gaining 60 pounds with each (and yes loosing it each time) the only thing that works in my opinion in exercise. I am not a big dieter, I eat healthy mostly but I do not count calories or portion anything, who has the time for that. I do however exercise at least 6 days a week, mostly tapes everything from aerobics, weight lifting, pilates and yoga for 50-70 minutes a day. The kids are used to it and of course interupt me constantly but I always finish. Starting is the hardest thing but after a couple of weeks it becomes habit and you will actually miss it. My newest favorite tape series is The Firm, hard but worth it. So good luck everyone!!

I started WW Online last year just before we went to Disney in December. I'd lost 5 lbs when we went and my goal was to be at my goal weight before my next Disney vacation - which is September 30th. Well, I lost the first 20 pounds quickly, the next 5 pounds very, very slowly, and now have been at a plateau for months and months and months. *sigh* But, I've also become a runner during that time and my body generally looks better than it ever has. I'm about 10 pounds away from my goal and I doubt I'll reach it in the next 35 days. But I do know that I'm going to look a LOT better in this year's vacation pictures. I'm down from 180 to 155 and a size 16 to a size 10. I stopped doing WW in May after plateauing for so long and switched to tracking calories on CalorieKing.com. Much, much cheaper and there's no such thing as 0 points foods! ;)

Us too! We are going in May 2007. Staying at AKL, and yup, Im trying my darndest to lose at least 25# before we get there. What a struggle some days, but dont give up. It will be worth it in the end.
