Losing weight for the mouse in 2015

1 pound down! Not much but I'm happy with it :) I started cutting out treats and now I am doing my "plan" hardcore so hopefully next week will be better.

I REALLY need to work on this. My back, and now knee, is always killing me. I stand up for 10-12 hours a day for work and it is becoming a problem. It's becoming a problem at home too. Sigh.

I definitely could not walk around Disney for hours a day like this so I am committed! :thumbsup2

Still can't figure out how to get a weight loss ticker here. I went to My Fitness Pal and went on to their help section but I can't find the link they are talking about.

Hang in there you can do it!!!! I am fighting my will power too, seems like lately I have a lot of days that I am eating terrible and saying it is just one day. And while it's true one day once in a while doesn't hurt, my one days have been far too frequent and I am back up two pounds. I have more will power than this I need to just get out of this funk I am in and do it!

I totally know what you mean. Two years ago I lost 60 pounds went from 230 down to 170. Then I finally got pregnant after 8 years of trying and gained every pound back plus 15 pounds. I have lost technically the 'extra' 15 pounds, it's just I can't help but feel fairly hopeless at the moment, and it's not really the state of my weight loss journey. But my personal life is definitely taking a toll on my healthy habits.

Sorry I havent posted an update. I am now down 11 lbs in just over 6 days.

I've added a workout plan to my diet
M-F walking at high incline and speed 3-4 for 30 mins (burns about 400-500 calories)
Saturdays- Run/jog 2 miles at YMCA track
Sundays- Swim for 1.5 hours

I'm joining you guys! We have a trip planned for August and I would like to lose some of these inches around my middle.

Currently 40.5 I don't have a set goal but would like to see this number shrink over the next 8 months!

Whoa! Way to go!

What is everyone's "weak time"? My weak time is after dinner. I could not eat all day and then 7:00 hits (the WORST time to eat) and I do a mental list of what snacks we have. :guilty:

The good thing about being on my current plan is I am tired earlier and wake up earlier. I don't know why - maybe because I'm down to one cup of coffee? But if I can make it to 8 I'm usually snoozing shortly after anyway.

After work is my weak time for a couple reasons. First by the time I get home I am starving and I know it is going to take a while to make dinner, I just need to get the right kind of snacks trouble is even with them in the house I am eating the bad ones. Second my drive home passes McDonald's, Burger King and Taco Bell. Usually I am fine with not stopping, but it adds to the hunger when I get home.

The thing is I know the right answers...quicker meals and better snacks and a snack or two at work for when I need it, but I just don't do them. My problem is within myself, I need to work on doing what I know I should!!!

I am happy to report that since December 10th I have biked 240 miles on the recumbent keeping my heart rate up (I have my heart rate monitor set to alert me if I drop below or get above my target). That equates to a little under and hour and 10 miles a day Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have a spreadsheet made and I am working on biking to Disney by our trip (it is 1,218 miles from our front door). It keeps me motivated to exercise when I am supposed to. I am currently 19.7% there.

My weak time is all day during the day. I work from home just 20 feet from the refrigerator. My day is mix of being busy on and off conference calls, and slower periods, and work is stressful. I feel inclined to grab food when I have a chance ...but then there are a lot of chances. Had a bad call?...go eat. Mid morning?...grab a snack. I feel hungry?...well I think I confuse everything with being hungry...thirst, boredom, anxiety, stress.

On the other hand...When my husband get's ready for work he grabs some oatmeal and a banana. He packs nuts and another banana for lunch (he loves bananas). He's not TRYING to be healthy (in fact he isn't getting enough calories, proteins and fats)...he just has no time and hadn't found the fix for this. He comes home very hungry and ready to eat a horse! We have dinner...I try to keep my portions small. Later before bed he wants to eat again...a snack. I try not to go there...I've had way too many calories by now!

So that's another weakness...hubby and I having completely different eating patterns.

Now I have to tell you I am actually quite educated in nutrition. I practically minored in health and nutrition in college, I've read many many many books, and I stay current with nutrition research. So it's not that we don't KNOW what to do. We need to summon some will power and develop better habits....but then that's the hard part isn't it.

By the way.... I don't see how to add others on My Fitness Pal using a user ID. Can someone point me in the right direction? Mine is flysandy.

This is such a cool thread! I'm trying to lose 30 pounds, and get my boyfriend to lose at least that. Started on nutrisystem next week. Good luck to everyone! I hope you stay strong and get healthy! :)

Figured it out! Y'all should have a request from me. If not...send me one if you like... flysandy is my user name.

I have two weak times. First one is the middle of the afternoon when I should make a healthy lunch but instead throw something quick together usually with a ton of cheese. The second weak time is after dinner around 9 o'clock I'll get the urge to bake something, cookies, cakes, popcorn covered in chocolate. I'm going to focus this week on paying attention to those times.

But my goal today is simple. No sugar. I wont add sugar to anything or bake anything sugary.

Hi, everyone! I thought I'd join in, too! I just booked our next trip, Oct. 29 to Nov. 10, staying at Pop for the second time (2013) and our fourth trip in five years. We couldn't pull off an annual trip last year, but I promised myself we'd go again in 2015.

I'm actually planning on doing the Jingle Jungle 5K on Nov. 7 (two days after my 44th birthday!) after starting an intensive walking program back in April and having lost 40 pounds since -- I know I can walk 5K, but now the question is whether I can do it under the 15-minute/mile suggested pace time. I've got 9 months to get there! So, I'm eagerly awaiting the March 17 RunDisney sign-up date.

I've been using MyFitnessPal (mpatriciatitus), a fitness tracker (BodyMedia's Link and also now Misfit Shine) and the PowerWalk walking program app (kind of like Couch-to-5K but with walking) to try to finally get healthy after decades of little or no exercise. I've gone through it once already, working up to walking an hour straight at 3 mph, and now I'm working on 3.3 mph.

I lost a few weeks in the fall to illness and a broken toe, and I plateaued around 40 pounds lost, put a few back on and now have dropped them back off. I've got a ways to go to get to my goal, but I really feel like I've made a life change, turning myself from a sitter into a walker. I miss my treadmill when I don't do it. I'd probably do it 5 or 6 times a week if I could, but it's usually around 3 or 4.

I'm not "dieting" per se, but I am watching what I eat, trying not to go overboard on calories but not restricting any certain foods and aiming to keep a calorie deficit, even though I haven't been doing as well with that as I was back in the summer. (I've been consciously indulging myself as I get through some personal issues, but still keeping a small deficit nearly every day!).

The last time I had exercised regularly, I got discouraged because I gained weight for nearly a month, and I stopped. This time, I ignored the weight gain the first few weeks and then it started dropping -- my scale says I've dropped 60+ pounds of fat while losing those nearly 40 pounds, so I've put on a lot of muscle and the scale seems to go back up every other week but then drops even more the following one. I'm encouraged! Now I just need to keep myself on track!

That is awesome!

Hubby and I set up a goal to do the Princess Half Marathon this year. princess: We are registered. But...haven't trained.:sad2: At less than 6 weeks out I have serious doubts about salvaging the experience. I had written it off completely when my husband looks at me last night and says..."hey...maybe we can still do the Princess marathon thing".:eek::eek: :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Then today I'm hunting online. Some say don't do it...others say it's possible. Either way I'm sure it would be some cruel form of punishment. We have been going to the gym regularly (for two weeks anyway). I did 2 miles today and actually kept pace at 16 min/mile with a lot of fast walking involved.

I think the only thing to do is move forward...see where training takes us and go from there. Maybe in 3 weeks we'll have a better idea of what is realistic for us. :confused3
