I am with you! I also have an almost 4 year old that I would like to blame the extra weight on but... I am 5'6" and weigh 170lbs. I am setting a realistic goal of just 20 lbs before our trip on August 17th. Just trying to do it the old fashioned way eat less, move more. Not easy though. I love to eat!!

Taymacsmom:
We leave for our trip Aug 20th.....so I'm here with ya for a few months....
I also want to loose 20lbs before the trip....so we can cheer each other on....

Good Luck!

:welcome::welcome::welcome:

My start weight 198 lbs
My goal 178 lbs before Aug 20th

I hope that I can make it!

BambieLover and Loralie- only a few more days to go until your trip!!!!!!:yay::yay:

You CAN SOOOOO DO THAT. That is only 1.5lbs a week. Cut out your sodas and fast food and then dance around while cleaning house and you will be there b4 you know it. I lost my first 35lbs that way. I eat mostly fresh fruits and veggies, NO RED MEAT, and whole wheat pastas and breads if I eat them. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! That is an easily obtainable goal.

Good advice L. Watson! KarBear, we all agree that you can do it! You're almost there! I find I am more accountable (and do better) when I keep a food diary. I try not to eat anything unless I write it down. It's funny how we forget all those small licks, bites and tastes of things. They can so add up! Good luck!:thumbsup2

DisneyDreamerToo and LWatson:
Thank you BOTH for the support.
After I last posted I decided to get my sorry A** up and go to the gym.
Which I just came back from.
I did 30 mins on the tread 11 mins elipitical and 10 mins on the bike plus a few weight machines.

Thanks for listening and the support.
When I got married I weighed 135 lbs and had to basically starve myself and work out everyday. I know I will never see that weight again but I need to be healthy for myself and my child.
I feel bad that I had to leave her for the gym...but she had fun playing with Daddy!

Anyway....again Thank you!
I think of this board when I'm down and know that there are others out there who are just like me! We may not know each other but have so much in common. Again - thanks for to all!!!!
You are all my encouragment!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:thanks:

By "cut out sodas" do you mean diet too!
I often read that people stop drinking soda when trying to lose weight but I am not sure if they mean regular soda or diet too????

What's wrong with diet soda???
I have tried to cut that back too, but I still have a diet soda a day.
Any advice????

Diet sodas have those fake sweetners in it that makes it bad (Plus it eats at your bones according to a nutritionist I know). I did cut out the sodas pretty much all the time, but if I find myself out and eating out then I get a diet soda. Its like a once a month thing usually.

Hey Karbear my numbers are almost exactly the same - started at almost 196, pre-baby weight was 178 - that would be a great goal for me - but WW says 167 is my ideal weight. I can never remember weighing that little but who knows.

Today at my mom's for mothers day I did great with snacks and the main meal (chicken instead of burger or hotdog) but had few cookies and TWO cupcakes. No great overall but could have been way worse. Supposed to out to dinner tomorrow and I always hate to spend $ on healthy food I don't want to eat. I am gonna try to be good.

I do love the accountability of this thread - thanks everyone.

Count me in!! I'm planning on a January trip and although I ALWAYS have a great time- I really want to feel good for this trip! I've got some health issues and losing weight will only help them- making our trip that much better!

My daughter and I (she's 19) went out yesterday and bought fruit- and lots of fiber rich foods. We aren't following a "plan" just trying to up our activity and eat healthier. Seems like whenever I have a "Plan" I blow it quickly. I don't really have a number goal in mind- but I want to feel GREAT!!!

I have a question - how do you get that cool countdown thing underneath your posts.
I want one!

DH got me a laptop for Mother's Day -originally I thought it was a strange gift but now I realize how fun it will be to have and set up my own computer without competing with the 3 kids for the household computer.

Have a good day everyone.

Giving up regular soda is one of the hardest things for me right now...so I'm drinking diet. I know I shouldn't, I know it's bad, it's just I need to take things slowly or I'll completely lose my mind and give up! There are only maybe 2 kinds of diet soda I like anyway, and I'm trying to only drink it once a day, and the rest of the time have water, but I have to say, it's a struggle! I cracked and had some regular coke last night, and I did really bad with eating and keeping track of my ww points all day yesterday. :( Most of the time I will beat myself up over days like that but I just have to remember today is a new day and I can basically start over!

I really love this thread, everyone is so helpful and reading how you all are trying to lose weight is really helping me stay motivated! :worship:

Hey everyone ... sorry I disappeared been busy dance recital in less than 5 days OMG :scared1: but I'm almost ready gotta finish music, slideshows, and make sure I have Aspen and my costumes ready....

OH AND I HAVE LOST 15 LBS...
Whoohoo went to a trainer last few weeks really good friend of mine (helps he's hot ... to bad he's in to my hubby more than me ;)) but so easy to be near even sweaty and gross .... he says my BMI is getting way better .... apparently I should relax with the scale because my legs are so muscular and so is my back ... that made me confident that the belly fat can be lost ...

So welcome all NEWBIES ... saw there's someone else from CLARKSVILLE, TN ... WELCOME NEIGHBHOR

Just a little side note I am so happy I started this thread.... I wanna thank everyone of you ... even though I haven't been able to check in as I would like I am still reading / moderotoring all post and want to say all of you are such great  SUPPORT:grouphug:

Hey Allboyz - we are leaving June 21 - it is getting close. Are you getting ready? I was thinking about starting to get out all the summer clothes. Congratulations on the weight loss. I have lost a whopping 2 lbs so far but this is the best week of eating and exercising I have had in months. It feels great. I am hoping to lose 10 -12 lbs by trip. I have ideally about 25 lbs total to lose but I'll be happy with a weight of 180 lb by the trip. My WW ideal weight is 167. 13 lbs overweight is a lot better than 25-27 lbs. :yay:

Hi!!! Yes, I have started to make some preparations for the trip. That time will be here before we know it. I'm so excited. :)

I think you are doing great! One lb at a time. I'm glad that you had a good week. Keep it up! :)

Weigh in day for me today - I actually get on the scaled every day but I try to only count it once a week ..

Today 192.6

Starting (last Sat) 195.8

That's -3.2 lbs!!!

I have 6 weeks to go - my new goals is 178lbs - that's 14lbs in 6 weeks very doable.

And to think I posted earlier about how its not all about the numbers :rotfl:

Happy Mother's Day everyone - treat yourselves well but not too well

Awesome!!! :woohoo:

It's all about accountability--so I'm going to share my numbers also! It will keep me honest, knowing I'm actually going to tell someone how I'm doing. I weighed in at weight watchers this morning and here are my digits:

start weight: 169 today: 155.3 gained: 1.0 from last week

At first I was crushed! I'm going in the wrong direction! But then one of the ww members brought up the fact sometimes weight reflects your eating and exercise habits from the previous 2 weeks. So, those brownies I ate are just now catching up with me? I was expecting weight loss because I had been really good this week and exercised 4 times. So, hopefully next week may show weight loss. I'm going to persevere and not let little weight fluctuations get me down. Usually a bad weigh in made me want to give up and get frustrated with the whole thing. Thats why I come on here and vent and try to talk myself back onto "right thinking". Thanks for the support, all! I'm very happy to see so many new posters--but I'm missing Lisa, our original poster! Where are you? You're in my thoughts and prayers and hoping everything is going well for you!

Don't get discouraged. I have had weeks like that. Keep doing what you are doing. The scale will eventually reflect it. Meanwhile focus on the positives (like how your clothes fit better, you feel better, etc). The weight loss will follow. :)

Glad you took some time out for yourself. That was my problem. I always made time for my husband and the kids (and their activities) but never any time for myself. I'm still there for my husband and kids but now I have put myself on that list too. I have finally started to take an hour a day for myself. I have found that I need that time. My family also needs me to be healthy.
