Hello, I’ve booked a 2 bedroom dedicated room at SSR standard view. We would like to be near Paddock area for the pool and Counter Service dining. What is the best buoy to request? I’m assuming high floor is best? Will be traveling with an 11 yo, 5,3, and 1 yo grandchildren. TIA!

I would just ask for "Paddock, near pool" and let them figure it out. If you want, throwing in a "high floor" would not be a terrible idea, but I would make it clear that I wanted the requests in that order.

I agree with Brian. ...Paddock area, near pool, upper floor is what we always request

How is the bus transportation at Saratoga Springs Resort? I've heard such horror stories about people walking over from Disney Springs to use the buses for free that I kind of envisioned SSR as a "resort only" stay (no buses). To make matters worse is that I use an ECV, so crowded buses don't favor the ECV, since a bus can only take 2 ECVs. However, I'd like to try SSR, in the Preferred Section, preferably the Springs section. So be honest-how is the bus transportation?
Sorry, this was supposed to be a different thread, but I can't delete.

I've stayed there a number of times. I never thought the bus situation was particularly bad, and definitely did not get a "we're just here for Disney Springs" vibes. I can't speak to how it will work with an ECV.

Quite often the buses are full by the time they get to the Springs stop if you're trying to get to the parks for rope drop.

Unfortunately, the Springs section is the last pickup en route to the parks, and Congress Park, the other Preferred location, is the second to last. So it might depend on what time you travel. DH and I have stayed there two or three times in Standard sections and didn't find the buses to fill up, but on those visits we didn't leave for the parks until late morning or early afternoon, and we weren't using ECVs either so didn't pay attention.

OTOH, it's not a long way along the sidewalk from the Springs to the Carousel bus stop, which is the second stop on the parks route. So you could ride your ECV to that stop - I think it's unlikely that all ECV spots on the bus would be full after the first stop, at Grandstand.

Here's a map of SSR. You could request building 4101-4436 in the Springs, which would be the closest to building 4501-4836 which is in Paddock but has the Carousel bus stop directly in front of it.

I have no problem riding my scooter to a better bus stop ( last year we stayed at OKW and even though we were right across from a bus stop, it was the last bus stop, so I used to drive my ECV to the Peninsular Road bus stop, further away, but that was the first bus stop.) Is the one by Paddock/Carousel the second bus stop and the one by the Paddock Pool area the third?

Glad to read this. My family’s first SSR stay is in May.

Just got back last week from Saratoga. I nearly always stay in Congress Park - the theme parks were the most crowded I've seen at any time of the year in the last 8 years at least. Very crowded. I never had any challenge getting on a bus at the 4th stop (Congress Park) and our bus was only full once when stopping at Springs where everyone had a seat, but they had to make some folks stand to accommodate 2 ECVs - still enough standing room to fit everyone in one trip. Same for return trips back to Saratoga - though one caveat - I sometimes take a Disney Springs bus back after a theme park day as I generally find them less crowded and more convenient when staying at Congress Park. If I'm at Hollywood Studios, I'll walk to Boardwalk to pick up the DS bus - if I'm at Epcot, I'll walk to Beach. At MK, I'll walk to Contemporary. It's one of the perks of staying at Saratoga for me, because I have multiple options to and from theme parks by including the DS busses.

I stay often in Saratoga, and I'd say nearly every bus back from a theme park I've been on, there's at least one party, maybe two, looking to get to Disney Springs. It's never a huge number where you feel your bus is being taken over by Disney Springs goers. I am used to it because I overhear them wondering at the first stop if that's where they're supposed to get off, and I'll always inform them it's stop 4, Congress Park. Because that's usually where I'm staying, when I get off the bus I direct them to the path to Disney Springs before heading back to my villa.

Thanks for your comments. It makes me feel better that there may be advantages wherever I stay at Saratoga Springs.
