Losing Pounds or Losing My Mind for Disney 05/2016 PTR

Magic Kingdom!! We did our first pre-open ADR last trip and it's so nice to see a (relatively) quiet Main Street!
Starting with Adventureland sounds like a great way to avoid some of the crowds, and I think your reworked FP times look great!

This is so exciting! I hope you have a wonderful time!
Thank you so much!!!! And thanks for reading along!!!

Yes, I love an almost empty Main Street!!! I'm sooooooo excited!!!!

Hello everyone!!!! DAY 18!!!!! 18 MORE DAYS!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay:Yeah, the excitment has really started setting in now. Yesterday Victoria wanted to go Disney shopping for clothes. It was just her and I since Peter was working, so off se went to Kohl's. Now, shopping with Victoria is not an easy task. She'd buy all men's clothes if you would let her. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but she's a cute girl and I just want her looking like one. I know it's more about her than me and I'm really trying to let her own personality come out, but it's hard to not go with the "what's expected from me" look. We started in the women's section (yep, she's a plus like me -- 20) and I let her just walk around and look and picked out things she liked. Oh, I would pick out things here and there but she didn't really like my choices and that was fine. I told her not to worry about the prices and just get what she was comfortable with (meanwhile I was hoping she'd go towards the clearence racks!:rolleyes1) We ended up walking out of there with 5 shirts and a new wallet (ok, her graduation gift). We tried looking for shorts but the 18's she liked were too tight and they really don't make cute shorts for plus girls. I suggested we go to Lane Bryant where she found 2 pairs of denim shorts. I will have to hem them up a bit (remember my girl is only 4'11"!) but that's ok. That's easy enough to do. We ended up spending about $300 of which she will pay 1/2! Seriously, I don't have that kind of money to shell out for clothes, but it's important to both of us that she is comfortable and proud of who she is.

We then went to Ulta....OMG.....for a person who doesn't like makeup (Victoria) she was getting tons of tips from the person working at the makeup counter. Victoria was looking for something to cover her acne. (yes, she does take medication for it, but she also needs a cover up). She ended up buying a concealer, foundation, brushes and a blush. I'm glad she's paying for that stuff. She certainly doesn't have her mother's Goodwill tastes! I ended up trying something to cover my Roseca (face redness) and a brow gel. My brows are increadibly blonde and I'm used to penciling them in, but I don't want to look like one of those little old ladies who obviously pencil their brows in. We'll see how I like it.

Oh, I wanted to show you guys the shirts I was talking about that I made:

I think they came out pretty good!

In other Disney news, I was able to capture a drop in the price for our airfare going to Orlando. The price dropped 3707 points per flight. So we were able to save 11,121 points ---- that's enough for a free one-way flight! See? It pays to be consistanly looking at airfare prices!!

Love Ya Southwest!!

(photo courteousy of photobucket)

I'll come back and let you all in on the plans for Day 3 ------ my favorite park day!!! Any guesses????

Ok, I haven't really given anyone time to respond, but my favorite park is....

Yay!!!! Hollywood Studios!!!! Love, love, love this one!!! Even with all the construction and closures, I'm sure I'll love it just the same! Breakfast will either be in the room or maybe something from Starring Rolls, although Victoria likes her eggs and bacon in the morning, so we'll see.

My ADR for today is Sci Fi Diner at 5:30pm for supper. My Fastpasses for the day are: 11:00 Rock n Rollercoaster, 12 Tower of Terror, and 3pm for Star Tours. Oh, guess what? I finally watched The Force Awakens the other night during Family Movie Night. Loved it!! I have lots of questions, though. I thought I'd be all set as long as I had watched Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi ---- that I would understand this movie, but nope. So, when did Leia and Han have a kid? Why is he so obsessed with the Dark Side? There's like a span of 25 years in between movies it seems that we have no clue what and how everything happens. Will the next 2 movies explain and go back like the others that I never watched did? Ugh!!

I'm excited to see the Launch Bay at HS, too!!! I'm not a huge Star Wars geek, but I did enjoy the first 3 that I've seen, oh, now 4. I definitely want to meet Chewy and Kylo Ren! My plans will probably start out with visiting the Launch Bay first. We'll then hit the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and MAYBE TSMM.....none of us really liked that when we did it a few years ago. I do want to wait in line for Buzz and Woody! No more Streets of America or Backlot Studio Tour (sad). I know we'll want to hit up the Muppets. Goodness, it's hard to think of the attractions there now. Ok, so there will be Indiana Jones and Beauty & the Beast to hit up as well. Of course I cannot forget the Great Movie Ride, either. But, that's about it. We didn't go to the Frozen sing a long, so that's a no. Hmmmmm.......I don't know if we'll stay for Fantasmic or not. Depends. Aren't you all excited to see what we really end up doing????

So, this is what's left:

It's sad, really. But the new stuff will be fantastic, I'm sure!!!

I love the grad shirts!

I'm so glad to see some Hollywood Studios love!! Plans look good. We did the Launch Bay in January, and while we're not at all Star Wars people, I thought it was definitely interesting. Meeting Chewbacca was a lot of fun, and I think you'll love that!

Another Magic Kingdom day is set for 5/17!!!! Breakfast will be again quick service either with Grab to Go food or something else....not very sure. I'm looking at my fastpasses and not really sure I like them. I currently have 9 BTMRR, 10 Splash Mtn, and 2:45 7DMT. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking on this day I'd rather go straight through the castle and hit Fantasyland first. Then go towards Tomorrowland and then backtrack. Oh, I hate to backtrack though. Ugh! I don't know. I know Victoria will want to start with Tomorrowland....Someone decide this for me!!! :worship: My ADR for this evening will be the Cape May clambake at 5:30pm. Hey, I'm from Maine, I like my seafood! The ADR is the only definite of this day. Yeah, I really don't like the fp's. I'm going to see if I can change them around to the afternoon. I'll be back........

Ok, I'm back with changes: Splash Mtn at 12:10pm, BTMRR at 1:25pm and still keeping 7DMT at 2:45pm. This way we will be able to start with Tomorrowland and Victoria's favorite the People Mover!!

Then we'll really hit that area hard!! Lovin me some Carousel of Progress and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin!! Maybe we'll get lucky and get a short standby wait for Space Mountain!! Gotta hit the Laugh Floor!!! Yes, my favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion but it usually doesn't require a fast pass so I haven't mentioned it. Hopefully we'll get to take advantage of the app to book more fp's if needed. Still kind of nervous about the crowds, but hoping for the best. I've been reading on the boards that it's been crazy last week and this week, but it's still in the Spring Break season, so I'm hoping it will calm down a bit.

So that takes care of the 17th!!! Again, don't know how long we'll be in the parks or what we'll see other than the scheduled fast passes!!!!!:jester:

Yay Magic Kingdom!
I'm actually a big fan of starting with Tomorrowland. You get a chance to knock out some fun attractions in the morning, and then you can either head into Fantasyland for a few hours, or cross through the hub to get to Adventureland/Fronteirland before spending the rest of the afternoon in Fantasyland. If you go into Fantasyland too early, then there's too much pressure to get it all done fast!

Alrighty m'am, I'm all caught up. Every single update has been read. The whole Victoria name change thing was nerveracking. You know that I work in the legal system too and I was thinking "that darn clerk could just hand that to the Judge". Seriously? Why add such needless stress? But glad that it all worked out in the end. Speaking of Victoria, I'm glad that she spoke up and let her doctor know that she was having some dark thoughts. Shows what a mature young woman that she is to acknowledge that she needed help.

Now, on to the better stuff....Disney plans! Yay for having not one but two trips in the works! I am loving all of the ADRs and Fastpass selections that you have made.

Alrighty then......we are at 2 WEEKS!!! 14 MORE DAYS until I get to be in my happy place!!! I cannot wait!!!!:teleport:

The next day for our vacation will be a combo Animal Kingdom/Hollywood Studios Day. Lord don't I wish my family enjoyed AK like I do. Victoria goes just for our Tusker House breakfast which we have an ADR for at 8:15am. Oh, she'll ride EE, too, but she doesn't want to wait around for it. Silly Girl! Last year we did Single Rider and it worked out well. No fastpasses are scheduled for AK as I've saved them for the HS part of the day. I would like to hit Kilimanjaro Safari, EE, and Dinosaur before leaving the park, though. I love all those rides. Heck I didn't schedule any fp's until 12:35pm so I'm thinking at least Peter and I will spend our time there until noon and Victoria can go to HS earlier without us. She did that last time and it worked out ok.

2011

I really want to walk the trails that has the underwater viewing area. Can anyone tell me where that is? I've seen people post pictures of it, but I can't quite place it in my head. I just can't wait to feel the sunshine on my skin....it hasn't yet been above 60-- it's averaging 45 - 50 degrees and it's just not warm enough for me. We still have frost in the morning, so planting really can't happen yet, even though I've started some seedlings already inside. Ugh, such is the life of a New Englander! :cold:

Lunch plans are up in the air, but I would really like to try Pizzafari or Flame Tree. Since Victoria will most likely be already gone onto HS, it would be just Peter and I. Victoria doesn't like pizza or BBQ ( I know -- she can't really be my kid!) this would be the perfect time to try them out. After lunch we'll head out to meet her at HS.

Like I said, our first fp is at 12:35pm for ToT!!! Hopefully they've dusted the lobby by now....

And of course you all know what's next (since it's right there......) time for Peter's nap!!!! I wish I could find that picture......he always sits outside the exit doors of RnR and naps. I'm serious. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. Sometimes Victoria and I can get a second ride in because he didn't notice us coming out the first time! Yep, gotta love my man!!! So, yes, at 1:35pm it's RnR time!!! Yahooo........

Afterwards we have a lot of time until the next fast pass which is at 3pm for Star Tours. I haven't figured out when to fit in Beauty and the Beast stage show......we all know I absolutely CANNOT miss my dream boat Gaston. Geez, I love that man...those biceps...that singing voice....OMG I want him now!! Hee Hee!!! :rolleyes1
Oh, I must see him! I MUST!! After our fp for Star Tours I'm hoping to use the app on MDE to get more fp's. Don't know what for as everything else will be gravy by then. Don't know if we'll stay for much longer, leave and come back, or what.

In real life I got my hair cut and colored last night. The little grey hair that I do have was bugging me and if I kept going, I was going to pluck myself bald, so it was time to cover that up. I haven't had short hair like this since I was a senior in high school so it's a little weird, but I like it. It should be nice and cool for Disney.

Of course this morning when I try to do it, it doesn't look as good as when the stylist did it, but it's ok. I'll learn.

Well..... For most of the time I've been a bad dis'er, but from April 12-19th we were in WDW!!!! It is soooo depressing being back from my happy place that I just may do a trip report!!! Also, what's the best remedy for the Disney blues? Planning another trip- woo hoo!!!!! We are planning on going back next May!!!

I love your haircut - it looks so beautiful!

AK/DHS plans sound great. I'm so entertained that Peter naps while you guys ride Rock n Roller Coaster ... but if that allows you to have more fun, that's always a good thing!

I love your haircut, very cute! Your trip is coming up so fast! I also am a huge AK fan. Tusker house and a morning with Safari, Everest, and Dinosaur is my kind of day, plus seeing Gaston and the Beauty and the Beast stage show sounds like you guys will have an awesome day!

May 19th has us at a Choice Day. We do have a breakfast ADR for 8:35am at O’Hana. Love this breakfast and I cannot wait to wear my Lilo shirt!!!

2014

My family’s choice is almost always EPCOT. One fly in the ointment is that EPCOT has EMH until 9am and that may make it more crowded than usual, even though the overall day is rated a 5. I did set up fast passes for Epcot, though. We have 9am for Spaceship Earth, 12:30 for Living with the Land and I believe another Character Spot, but I don’t have it listed on my cards. Darnit! Ok, just checked….it’s for the Pixar short films at 10:20am. OH, again, I don’t like the first fp being so early --- I don’t think we’ll even be out of breakfast until 10. Let’s see if I can go change that……(you guys must be used to this by now, right??) Ok, I made it for 9:20am, so that will give us until 10:20am to actually get there and queue up! That’s doable! Anyone know if the bus goes to Epcot from the Poly??

I’ll have to go look that up, too! It looks like there’s no direct bus from Poly to Epcot. Now that doesn’t make any sense, really???? I looked it up under Disney transportation wizard and it said no. Seriously? I’ve just messaged my buddy on FB as she’ll know. Thanks Suzi!!! So, I did just check with her and nope, no bus. We can either walk to the TTC or catch the monorail around to the TTC and switch to the Epcot one. Ok. Noted. After the fast passes are done, the day is up in the air. Again, hoping to use MDE for more fp's but we'll see. Geez, I'm reading this and for a planner, I really don't have solid ones, do I? Oh well. We'll have fun no matter what we do. Oh, we've got to make time for feeding Disney Ducks! Yep, every year Victoria makes friends with the ducks and actually holds one. I know it's frowned upon, but we certainly don't hurt them in any way.

2014

There's the wrap up of May 19th's plans......oh, and did I mention.....

10 MORE DAYS UNTIL DISNEY!!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Your haircut is adorable!

Thank you sooooo much. I'm still getting used to it, but it does feel a lot less heavy. I think it will be perfect for Disney!!!

As I've told you in your own Trip Report, your Dis card is in danger of being revoked!!! But, hey, I'm glad you're back. Time to plan the next one!!!

I love your haircut - it looks so beautiful! AK/DHS plans sound great. I'm so entertained that Peter naps while you guys ride Rock n Roller Coaster ... but if that allows you to have more fun, that's always a good thing!

Hi Sarah!!! Thank you. Yep, Peter can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. We've had many, many pics of him sleeping at Disney. I should dig those up for you.

Hi Cara!!! Thank you for loving my haircut. It sure is different! Can you believe we are 10 days out? This past Saturday I worked on ironing all of our shorts (after all, the shorts have been in drawers for almost a year...they were wrinkled! Believe me, I don't iron often!!!) I have 2 of Victoria's left to do and then it's done. All the clothes we are taking are hanging on the rack in my room. I leave them on hangers so that when we get to the room, all I do is pull them out and hang them in the closet. So much easier!! We do utilize the drawers for socks, etc. I also shortened 2 pairs of her shorts --- they were bermudas and she wanted them shorter. I finished those last night. Of course we have Mother's Day on Sunday and I'm pretty sure I'm working at Party City at 2pm that day. That is also the day I have to make fast passes for our July trip. I must be crazy to be doing 2 back to back trips like this. Ahhhh!!!! Just a little freak out moment there. Boy, wait until you guys hear all the developments on that trip. It's gonna be a doozy!!!pixiedust:

The monorail trip to Epcot is actually pretty cool - the monorail goes through the park and gives you a nice view of things. It may not be as fast or convenient as a bus, but it's really not a bad trip.

10 days!!!! I'm so excited for you!!

Day 8 people!!!! Can you believe that??!! One week and one day away!!! I am going out of my mind. I just want to be there! I don’t want to wait any longer, but I know I have to. Ugh!!

So to continue on with our plans…..

May 20th last real park day. Sad! It’s a scheduled EPCOT day, unless we decide we are tired of Epcot and want to go somewhere else. This day has our ADR at Garden Grill for 5:30pm. Love the characters and the food there!! If anyone remembers, this is where Victoria asked Mickey to marry her and when he indicated he was already married to Minnie, Victoria goes, “that’s ok – we can be a polygamist family” OMG!!! I wanted to DIE!!! I believe this was about 4 years ago now. That child!!! Speaking of that child, she went and got her hair done on Saturday. I think she was going for the shock factor from our traditional old fashioned extended family……I’ll let you decide…..

I actually think it’s kind of cute and it really does match her personality. Here I am going to cover my greys and she goes and dyes her hair grey! Hey, it’s her money, her hair, etc. Whatever makes her happy!!! There are a lot of other things I could freak out about that she hasn’t done! I consider myself lucky if her hair is the only thing she goes a bit crazy over.

Back to the plans……our FP’s are 10 Spaceship Earth, 11:30 Test Track and 1:05 the Seas with Nemo --- I know a totally useless fp, but what else is there, right? Oh, maybe I’ll switch it to Mission Space green, but I don’t know yet. I’m anxious to see how the crowds are. There was a picture on the boards the other day of a really empty Epcot, so maybe the Spring Breakers are all done by now? And the cheer squads? I hope so. We’ll have fun no matter what!!! I’ve seen the rain in Disney lately, too. But, we all have at least 2 ponchos --- now if only I remember to put them in the park bag, we’ll be all set! Yep, forgot to put them in the park bag one year and yes, we did need them! Very soggy we were!

As usual, I’m not sure what the plans are other that the fp’s and adr.

I did finish up all the ironing I had to do last night, so everything is ready for the suitcase!! I even did a little rearranging and made sure I had some snacks in my cross body bag. Just peanut butter crackers, but enough to keep me out of a low sugar range. I may pick up some candy at Party City tomorrow since I’m working then. Yep, candy ---- such a sacrifice! LOL! I bought myself a Mophie iphone case off of Groupon the other day for only $20!!!. It’s a very nice blue. It’s a case that’s actually a back-up battery so hopefully my phone will be fully charged at all times in Disney. I’m hoping. I’d like to get in for a pedicure and manicure this weekend, but I’m not sure I can fit it into my schedule. I really want my feet done so they can look halfway decent in the hot tub/pool. Speaking of the pool…..

Ahhhhhh…….this is such a wonderful sight considering it’s damp and about 40 degrees around here today. And I’m driving Peter’s Subaru station wagon from the 1980’s. It smokes!! Oil is leaking on the exhaust and it makes it stink to high heaven. My car is up on the lift in his garage as I need breaks in order for my car to pass inspection. Yep, it’s due this month. At least work is pretty calm right now and I’m hoping it will stay that way until I leave. It should…..maybe…..

OMG!!!! JUST FOUND THE PETER NAPPING AT RnR picture!!! Oh, wait.....this is the area before Tower of Terror, by the bathrooms.......And on a bench in Epcot with Victoria. These are from 2010. I guess I need to update the napping pics!!!

Classic!!

I love Victoria's hair - it's super fun and definitely shows some personality!

The Peter napping pictures are hysterical! I'm always entertained by people who can fall asleep anywhere!
