Looting or Salvaging?

Are you people serious? Shoot people who steal from grocery stores or Wal Mart?

People steal millions of dollars through schemes and only get a year or two in prisons and you want to possibly give death to people who may take a couple of hundred dollars or maybe even thousand of merchandise.

I do not want to live in the same country as you guys.

I'd hate to think of what you'd do to people who commit a more harmful crime.

I'd hate to be your kid and get caught stealing CDs or clothes.

I don't condone looting - but as I said in an earlier post - I don't have a problem with people taking what they truly need

also - how do you know they didn't have supplies that got destroyed - maybe they prepared for the 3-5 days that was reccomended and realized today they need more and the stores were in danger of flooding and then they would be without

and as far as the police will commandeer the stores if need be - are you fricking kidding?!? they have a lot bigger problems than that right now!

and I know that many of you have been in hurricanes and you didn't have to loot - but come on - you know as well as anyone this was not an ordinary hurricane - it is the worst storm to ever hit our country - no city has ever been devastated like New Orleans - I really don't think we can comprehend what they are going through

and as far as alcohol not being a necessity - I think if I were there - I would certainly be looking for a stiff drink!!!

The OP asked - if they are taking necessities do you have a problem with it - to which a lot of people said no (and although many of you say it is black and white and that is the law - according to the police on TV - it isn't)

had the op asked - are you okay with it if they steal jewelry and items from people's homes and other luxury items - I am pretty sure that would have gotten a resounding no from everyone!!!!!!

Just had to say, when you are facing a water shortage, alcohol is the last thing you want to be drinking. Not a good idea to dehyrdrate your body more than it already may be, when all of the water is contaminated...
