Loop Request - Online Check in vs. Gate Check in.

So I have managed to get my Loop request granted twice out of my ten trips to FW.

Any ideas/ theories if I would have better luck with online check-in vs. checking in at the gate.

With online check-in the package is already complete and the site assigned when I pull up at the gate. I would think you would get first crack at the loop requested. But, only if there is a person reading the requests. What do you think??

. . . checking in at the gate . . .

1) Therein lies the problem.
2) DO NOT CHECK-IN AT THE GATE.
3) Park in the lot, and go into the Front Desk.
. . . they show you your lot
. . . if you don't like it, you can frequently change
. . . they can assign you to another lot immediately
4) Alternate lots
. . . the earlier you check-in (eg, 6:00am), the better
. . . the CM's can usually trade you to another lot
. . . even during a sold-out condition
. . . they simply put you in Mr Smith's lot
. . . and put Mr Smith in your lot
. . . the later in the day, the less this can happen

NOTE: To answer the other question, there is no other
way to get your lot other than listing on your ressie.
You can't call, write or fax.

We always put our request on our reservation. Check in the drive-thru lines. Always got our request when we ask for preferred. Since the upgrades we have booked full hookup but always gotten premium. :confused3

Some have found it helpful to fax a request direct to the Fort 5 days before arrival.

The fax# for the Fort is: 407-824-3508

Date of Fax

TO: Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground Site Assigner

FROM: Full name address is listed in
Address
town, state zip code

SUBJECT: Site Request for Dates for reservation

RE: Reservation # XXXXXXXXXXXX

I am really looking forward to my stay at the Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground and am writing about campsite requests. I do understand that these are only requests and cannot be guaranteed.

If possible, I would like a site in Loop XXXX with a site that will accomodate the following: Equipment listed. I wish to be in the XXXX loop because Reasons listed.

Thanks so much for your help, and once again I’m really looking forward to my visit to Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX or by email at XXXXXXXXX@XXXXX.XXX

Sincerely,

You can't call, write or fax.

I don't understand why you continue to post this incorrect information that you cannot call, write or fax in requests. Numerous posters, to include myself, have been very successful with these methods of securing our site preferences.

To OP, please make sure you fax in your request as previously posted by Denise.

I'll echo the faxing.

I am 100% on getting my requested loop. 4 for 4 (as recently as 6/28/11)

The ONLY method I have used is a fax, as Denise describes above, 7-10 days out.

I have never put it on my reservation (I do online), called ahead or requested changes at checkin.

Now it could be pure luck, since they apparently don't read faxes, but I have never won the lottery, so I don't think I have that kind of luck.

I personally have only faxed in a request once and I am sure they would have given me my request had it been ready when I arrived at 12pm. But, honestly I usually just have it noted on my reservation (I often call the Disney Reservation agents to have them add the information if I booked it myself online). And I have never not gotten the loop I have requested. :)
