loop recommendation

I know this is fairly subjective, but since this is going to be our first trip to Fort Wilderness, it seems like I could leverage past experiences to make a loop request.

Family of 6(Mom, Dad, 2 daughters (6 and 9) and BIL and SIL) at FW May26-Jun4 premium site reserved

Key elements for our request:

34 foot travel trailer, so it's not the easiest beast to back into tight spots

we will have a golf cart so we should be relatively mobile

I think we want to be close to the pool, but maybe this is no big deal with a golf cart.

I think we don't want to be near the campfire, because my kids will want to go every night and we need them to be in bed fairly early a few nights for big days.

Not opposed to pets, but all things being equal I would prefer not being in pet loop. (less chance of a yipping dog next to me)

So I'm really trying to figure out if it's important (with a golf cart) to be close to the pool, ferry, trading post etc.

If not we could go for one of the more secluded spots, and that would be great with me.

I'd be interested in any thoughts you all might have as well as specific loop recommendations if your so inclined. I know it's a matter of opinion, but I also know that your opinion will be a lot more valid than mine.

Thanks in advance!

Since you have a golf cart, you should focus on the one thing that is most important to your family. With a cart you really have no need to be close to a bus stop, the pool, or the marina unless that is what you want because there is cart parking at all of these and you will be able to quickly get to all of the places you mentioned.

Do you like to be secluded and like quiet? Would you like to have a big site? Do you need to be close to the comfort station? Would you like to be close to a playground or basketball court? Just a few questions that would help me give you my opinion. You will get alot of opinions, but TCD gave me the best advice. Fax a request without stating a specific loop or site number. Just tell them what is important to you, like being close to the comfort station, off the main road, big site that is has easy access, NO PETS(good luck with that!:headache: ), and so on and be very specific to what you want.

Everyone has an opinion on this and you will get alot of great advice! We have only stayed in 400, 1400, 1300 recently so I can give you my opinion on those if you want. I think that all of these are now premium loops:)

OK, so it sounds like being close to pool, ferry, trading post etc. is no big deal since I have a cart. Also, I understand that it makes sense to fax preferences and I will do that. Your advice is already helping me to make sure I don't ask for things I don't really need.

So if I don't need to be close to anything in particular, I guess I would enjoy being reltively secluded. We do like a little bit of privacy.

The pet deal is one of those "if everything esle is equal". We like pets, just thought I would reduce my chances of being next to an unruly one.

So am I missing something. Is it really as simple as we want to "off the beaten path in a site that's easy to get into". I think that might be it unless someone sees something obvious that I'm missing. Does this requirement help with a loop reccomendation at all. I guess I feel like I want to tell them what I'm after and then point them to a particular loop or 2 if I can.

I really appreciate the input from the more experienced campers!!

For your first visit just roll with the punches and learn and then the next time you will have the experience to refine your needs/desires.

I don't know if I am more experienced:rolleyes1 but I certainly have an opinion!;)

I would definitely ask for a certain loop if you have one in mind, but just stress what is most important to you about the characteristics of the site itself.

What type site do you have reserved? That would make a difference in regards to pet loops, not that Disney really enforces this and tries to keep pets in pet loops!

We have a premium site reserved and your opinion is exactly what I'm interested in, because if you've ever seen the place, then you are much more of an expert than me!!!

I think that the loops we have stayed in; 400, 1300 and 1400 are all premium now but if not, someone please correct me.:confused3

Of these loops, I liked 1400 the best because it is the largest of these 3 and quiet and more secluded. Our site was on the inside but most of the sites on the outside were even larger than ours and some were on the canal and were really nice. We were at the beginning of the outer road in the loop(Big Bear I think, maybe 1407, not sure) but I think the sites on the other side of the loop might be nearer the movie. I never heard any noise at all from it, but I think there is a path near the comfort station that will take you right to the campfire. There was a nice playground area at the entrance to the loop and a small bb court at the entrance of Little Bear. 1300 had the best playground of these 3 loops. 400 was great because we had no cart and it was a quick walk to the marina or outpost bus stop but it is a very tight loop. 1300 was a really nice loop. We were there this past Nov. and they closed it the day after we left to do the conversions. There are some really big sites in this loop and the ones at the back are small but they are on the canal. 1300 is very centrally located and it was nice to be able to walk to the Meadow's TP and pool.

This past trip I took TCD's advice and just faxed a request with what I wanted to be close to or away from. The only thing they did not honor or "give" me that I asked for was to be in a non-pet loop. I really don't know which loops are not pet friendly anymore and Disney doesn't really enforce this. We love our dogs but leave them at home when we vacation. We have been put in loops with dogs on every trip and only had to complain one time. The CM told me that they were not aware that there was a pet in the site across from us but that they were leaving the next day and they would speak to them about the barking. Not everyone tells the CM at check-in they have a pet so expect to be near them no matter what loop you get. Maybe this won't be an issue for you.

No matter where you end up, you will be at Disney and you will have a wonderful, fantastic time! I hope I have helped and that many others will chime in with their advice and opinions!:wizard:

very helpful info - thanks for taking the time to share!

I would have guessed that the movie and campfire were easy to see/hear from 1400. I understand that it might depend on where you are in the loop, but it's good to know that there are parts of the loop where this is not an issue.

If you decide to go with 1400, and you are an early-to-bedder (before 10PM) I would just request a site away from the campfire... the sounds can be pretty loud. Also realize that the comfort station stays busy while the campfire and movie are going.
