Loonie/Toonies for mousekeeping

Hi,
Don't feel like envelopes are required, remember we Dis, which is a bit above and beyond the norm! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

On the nightstand there is a notepad w/ a pen, we wrote
"HOUSEKEEPING - THANK YOU!"
and put the money with the note on the table by the door.

(This time I will make the envelopes - as a "craft project" to keep me busy :rotfl: :rotfl2: something fun but not necessary)

No....the US banks will not take Canadian coin. The Canadian banks won't take US coins either.

The only places that you even have a hope of getting coins exchanged is at an airport currency exchange. However, the rates are not as good and they charge a fee for the service.

Canadian banks will take U.S. coins - they are treated the same as Cdn. at par.

Hope OP won't mind if I piggyback my question on this thread.

I was thinking of putting a note inside the envelope with the tip to ask mousekeeping to leave the envelope behind so that it could be refilled for the next day. I am not very crafty and I have 2 rooms so the idea of making up 14 envelopes makes me grit my teeth.

Do you think this would be tacky?

Make it a project for your kids. You can print, what will make, envelopes from mouseforless.com All you need to do is cut them out and fold them. My DD loved doing it.

What about buying a package of envelopes from the dollar store?

We are talking about exchange here.

No we are not talking just exchange, a U.S. bank will not accept a Cdn. coin, a Cdn. bank will accept U.S. By the way, for those intending to leave detailed notes for your mousekeeper, there is a strong possibility that he/she may not be able to read English, just leave the tip and don't worry about envelopes. By the way, I will often leave my tip under a pillow so that a supervisor or other staff don't end up with it.

I have always had good intentions of doing envelopes, bags etc. I never remember and although I run out for a package of envelopes, I have once used a sandwich bag and drawn a happy face on the label .
