Last night DD13...while cleaning up after our 4th Beach Boys concert....was hit with a wooden wheely type cart on her knee cap....12 hrs later it is still swollen and light purple....bothers her to have weight on it...

So, looks like we may be pushing a wheel chair around WDW next week...

I'm putting arnica ointment on it and giving her arnica pellets just in case.....and she is on the couch with ice...

Keep your fingers crossed....

She is sounding a little bit excited about the possiblity of not walking around the world next week....:smooth: :smooth:

Hope she gets better before the trip. Not having to walk around does sound good ;)

Can you trust her on a scooter? It would be a lot less work, and she would have a ball!

Sorry to hear about her injury, but excited at the prospect of another trip report! Have a great time!

I hope she is feeling ok for your vacation. Did you get it x-rayed?

A bummer, Kim. If she has any sort of special 'boot', maybe dad can get a shot. :) Hope it heals quickly. I never had heard of arnica, but a search proved interesting.

I think there is a minimum age to be able to use a scooter and at 13 she would be too young.

Sorry for her pain. I've had a sprained ankle that was awful and I couldn't put any weight on it and then it healed really fast. Good wishes for her (hopefully speedy) recovery.

Sorry your DD is hurt but I wouldn't rule out her being able to walk by next week. I've had more ankle injuries than I can count and after a few days of rest the swelling s/b down and she s/b able to walk ok. You might want to get her an ankle brace until it's 100% better.

<font color=navy>Good luck. Whether or not you need to push your dd in a chair, I hope you all have a fantastic vacation. :)

I said next week I technically meant tomorrow...we arrive in MCO tomorrow....

So, we will be in full blown WDW mode by Wed....hope her knee feels better by then..

Don't know if you've been to the disABILITIES site, but you might want to get the info for off-property rental if necessary. Don't remember being asked my age when I rented, although I would understand the rules. I would totally trust my 7-year old, but never my 10 year old!

Have an awesome time!

Ouch! I hope the swelling goes down and she feels better soon! DS and DH have used this therapy wrap from CVS and it works wonders to bring the swelling down. It's like an ace bandage, but it's also like a gel. It's weird, but works great.

Ouch!! :( I hope your DD is all better soon. Lucky her...gets out of the walking!

aawwww hope shes feeling better real soon:)

Have a great trip Will be looking forward to lots of neww bad shoes next week:) have fun

meeshi I have never seen those things but am going to invest in a few. I need to have surgeries done on both knees in the next few months-----hoping sooner rather than later so I can enjoy Disney! These look like they could provide some alternative relief in the mean time. zurgswife.....can't wait to read your trip reports! Have a blast.

Minimum age for scooter is 18. Found that out many years ago when my daughter hurt her ankle at Disney. Our solution since I have my own scooter was to have her use mine and I rented a Disney one. I believe even outside rentals have to age 18 limit.

Oh boy, just what you needed huh?
I'm glad this thread didn't go bad. :)

Just to make it clear...she will not be renting a scooter....the young strapping brothers whom she likes to pick fights with will be pushing her around WDW...this should get real interesting...:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

I hope she is feeling better after a couple days.

I hope all goes well and you have a wonderful trip.

Sometimes the least expected and not the most wanted circumstances turn into the best of times. You may have some of the best memories from a different experience in the parks.
If not you all - DD may be the one to enjoy this experience the most.::yes::

I just know you will all make the most of whatever the situation requires. Have a great time::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo
