Hello (me again)

Having decided to go to Florida this year, we have now also decided to go in Oct

So would like to know what is the weather doing in Oct, are their any US holidays that we should aviod (I know halloween is at the end of Oct) but we will have small kids so would probable go before then.

Anymore Oct advise?

Getting excited and it is only January, let the count down begin

We were at WDW for the first two weeks of October last year and for the most part the crowds were very light. The only times it seemed busy were the one-off special events for launching new attractions such as Mission Space and Wishes (which won't affect you), and the Columbus day weekend around the 2nd Monday of the month (which might).

In my opinion this wasn't really a big deal, as the parks were still very manageable, and everything seemed back to normal again by the Tuesday afterwards (we came home the next day - boo!).

Even if you won't be there for Halloween you can still enjoy Mickey's not-so-scary-halloween-party at the MK which runs on various nights throughout October - the kids will love this, i'm sure.

The weather is great in October, consistently warm to hot, with relatively few thunderstorms. Also you can enjoy the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot which this year runs throughout the whole month.

We've been to Florida for the last 5 years and absolutely love going at this time of the year.

Columbas Day hasn't bothered us much except for one year when we went to MK that Sunday and it was sooooo busy.

We found that Halloween day itself has been really busy and this year we bought tickets for MNSSHP and it was great and is for any age we had a great laugh and we all dressed up and joined in the fun!

We had about 3 days of rain - ish in 1999 and 2 days in 2002 and 1 day in 2003 and that's all the rain we've seen whilst there - we've been 2nd, 3rd and 4th weeks over the years and have been really lucky so far and are hoping for the same in Oct of this year.

Definitely a good time to go. Weather is generally hot but not too humid. Last year it was exceptionally hot, and mainly cloudless. Perfect!

I should avoid the half term weeks (some authorities it's 3rd and others it's 4th week in October) - in fact you'll find it hard to get flights for half term at this late stage!

We were there 3rd and 4th weeks last year - crowds were OK, some busy days and some light days - but all things being equal I'd prefer 1st and 2nd, perhaps going into 3rd, and stay by the pool on Columbus day!

Definitely make sure you can go to Epcot's food and wine festival - excellent - and although I've never been, MNSSHP is supposed to be great for little ones - and big ones! Forget HHN at Universal. It's fantastic, but no way suitable for the under 12s.

we are going in october also,i was just wondering do all the parks do something for halloween or is it just mnsshp at the magic kingdom and also are the window's dressed up just for this event in the evenings or are they dressed up through out the month of october

We did MNSSHP and had a great time.

Also went to Seaworld the Sat before Halloween and saw the Shamu 'spooktacular' amongst other things - this was also a great day and night out.

I'm toooo scared to go to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights but had heard a lot of good things about it but just not for me! lol

MNSSHP - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party


Each year Mickey hosts a Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom. This is a hard ticket event -- meaning you need to purchase a separate ticket for entry (just like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party).
