Hi, I'm going to be booking a Bass Fishing Excursion at WDW for May 7th. It will just be me and my son. I am 40, he is 10, we are both male. The boat allows for 5 fisherman. We would have room for 3 more but ideally 2 would be better. Disney takes care of everything, the guide, bait, poles, beverages, etc. It's a good time but expensive(about $250 for the boat for 2 hours). It's a pontoon so there's plenty of room to share.

That is the time we were there last year! Darn! :( We loved it but went with extended family and split the boat with them. It's not bad if you can split the cost.

Too bad it's not a week earlier. My husband and 10 year old son would like to do this one year.

This is GREAT excursion. We've done it 3 times with our son and have another booked for when we go in August. We request Rick as our guide - we find him to be wonderful. We usually take the 10am excursion from the YC and we've always had good luck catching fish. Our son is now 7 and each time he had a great time reeling in the bass. Last year he caught the biggest one.

Sorry we can't help you with your trip, but if you're interested in the past we've used the 20% discount coupon that's been in the back of Birbaum's guide book. You need to get it from the current year as it does expire at the end of the year. Check out the Birbaum book in a book store to confirm it still has the coupon and if so you may want to buy the book or see if someone has it who doesn't want the coupon and will give it to you. It's over a $50 savings.

I also remember that one year when we booked a package thru Disney our packet when we checked in included a coupon for Bass fishing. Maybe a diser can confirm if it's still part of your check in package.

Thanks for the tips Wendy! I just looked up that guide on Amazon. $10 shipped. I ordered it, so that should save me close to $50. Awesome!!!! :thumbsup2

Not sure which marina you plan to book/leave from, but we stayed at the Dolphin and booked the one out of Yacht Club. When we got there, the lady at the counter said our guide had gone over there to pick us up! LOL. Had no clue he would do that; pretty cool, I thought. Also, the guides know where fish are biting the best recently and will probably recommend those spots to you (our day it was right outside Atlantic Dance). Now this sounds ridiculous, but after an hour plus of reeling in one great big bass after another, the kids got a little bored--and hot! So I asked if we could just take a ride to cool off, so we cruised over to DHS, checked out TOT from the water (unique pic), and just hung out for a bit. So don't feel shy about asking to do whatever you think you and your son would enjoy. My kids want to do it every trip now...told them to, as Killer Beaz says, "save UP!!" Have fun; you'll love it.

In case anyone is interested we would also be open to spliting a shark fishing boat. Problem with that is now you have to drive to Cape Canaveral, pay tolls and the cost of that boat is $400 plus gratuity. Now we are looking at $480 split 2 ways. Kind of rich for us but we would make it work.

You sound like someone after my husband's heart..he loves fishing and I'm sure he would want to try and reel in a shark, however we won't be in Disney until August. I think sometimes I book the bass fishing trip more for my husband than son...but they both have a great time and I enjoy watching the scenery (I reel in one or two fish)..we usually fish in WS and last trip we caught some good ones in front of DHS. Fishing can be expensive...but it's fun!
Oh, on the Disney trip they include a cooler full of soda and water...and usually when we leave the boat we each take a can of soda or bottle of water with us for the park...your trip's almost here...Have a great time!

LennyLexi, you really got me with the invite to share a boat. I asked my kids if they would rather have breakfast at Crystal Palace again, or go on an adventure. They chose adventure. I told them about fishing and they were so excited we booked a rental our first day in the parks out of Yacht Club. I booked it and cancelled breakfast. They can't wait! Hope you have a great time!

Mom2darlingboys, you will love it. We did it last year. It is a bit pricey but let me make you feel a little better about that. I priced out private Bass fishing charters in the Orlando area and they were not much cheaper and actually about the same price in the end. The private charters get you in the door with a nice price. However, with them you have to get a fishing license for all adults. You then need to buy live bait, that is not included in the price. Up here in Michigan, we use night crawlers and minnows, very cheap. In Orlando they use "wild shiners", get ready for this, $20 a dozen. The private charter was telling me to buy 4 dozen for a trip. That's $80 just in bait!!!!!! Disney provides the bait and no license is needed. So between the license and the bait costs the value was gone in my eyes with the private guy. Also, Disney brings a cooler full of bottled water and a variety off coke products on board. I know this is hard to believe but the refreshments are included in the price. Make sure the kids grab one for the road lol, we do. Given all this along with the fact that you are fishing in the resort makes the choice easy for me. Oh, by the way, you will catch plenty of Bass, I promise you. Have fun!!!!

Folks closing as anyone interested in the share can senda PM and communicated off th boards :)
