WE are going Nov 1-9 I will have my 3 & 5 yr old. I know I will need a double,I do not want to rent everyday toooo much $$$$$. 16$ a day x 9 days UUGGGHHH!!!! Any advice what kind to buy. I am hoping to find a great garage sale this summer!!!!

How big is your 5 and 3 year old?

We have been looking around a lot too, but a lot have weight limits on them.

This might help people answer your question best.

We bought a Jeep double umbrella stroller(I think Cosco makes it?) specifically for theme parks. It was great at Disney. It folds better than most double strollers. The seats recline individually. It has a cup holder and pockets on the sides. It dosen't have a cargo hold area like alot of strollers, but we just put our backpack around the back of it. My kids were 3 and 1 last year, but we'll be taking it again this year and they'll be 4 and 2.

Tara,

that is the one that i *think* we are getting. I am pretty indecisive about things though, so we might still change our mind!!

With kids that old, your very best choice would be a Kelty Deuce Coupe umbrella jogger. Not cheap (they are nearly $400), but they do have great re-sale value on eBay. (There is a used one up right now @ $182 with 25 bids on it.)

Generally a jogger is going to work best with kids at high weight, unless you can find a Mac double, or an old Peg MicroTwin (I wouldn't get your hopes up on a used Microtwin, they are rarer than hens' teeth.)

Other possibilities are the Chicco Twin Cita @ around $120 (rated 80 lbs) or the Inglesina Swift Twin at slightly <$200 (rated for 90 lbs.) Both of them have good resale value. The drawback with these is that the steering will probably be at less than optimal performance if you are near the weight limit.

Garage sales are not going to yield too many quality lightweight doubles; the resale value on them is very good, so people use tend to use eBay to try to recoup the value. (The exceptions to that tule being the Kolcraft double or the Schwinn, but I wouldn't really recommend either one for a major WDW trip; one has short handles and the other has a bar in a spot behind the childrens backs where it can be uncomfortable.) You *might* get lucky at a local kids' resale shop, but only if you visit ahead of time and let them know what you are looking for, because the minute something like that hits the floor, it will sell.

There is one other solution if you think that your older child will only occasionally want to ride; you could use a buggy-board (or similar product) with a single. My own experience is that kids still fall asleep for long periods in strollers at age 5, so that's iffy, IMO.

Your kids are almost surely too big for it, but for other people reading this, I'll also toss this out: there is a new Eddie Bauer Umbrella-fold *Tandem* twin on the market now. This is it: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.htm...8?_encoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0007W05OW

I wonder what the resale is like on that Eddie Bauer tandem... will have to do some research.

(dh will KILL me if I buy another stroller, but that looks like it would be fantastic at WDW)

This tandem stroller accommodates two children and can fold up for easy storage and portability.
• 27 lb., lightweight aluminum frame
• Ultra compact fold with carry handle
• 7-position foam-grip handles
• Removable child drink holder
• Large canopy with rear storage pockets

weight limit on your stroller is 40 lbs per seat.

I'm getting the Inglesina, I think. It rates higher than the Macs on parent surveys at babygaga.com. I don't know much about the Chicco, can anyone elaborate?

We bought the maclaren for our last trip and loved it. I kept the box anf all information and plan on reselling on eBay in a few years.
It folds easily and was not difficult to take on the buses.

I have a graco duo rider and I love it. We've taken it twice to WDW and plan on taking it again with a single as well! (we have 3 babies now! :teeth: ) My 3 year old is very tall/big for his age, (He looks about 5) and this stroller works great for us. We did recently look for a new double because he has wide shoulders and we wanted to give him a little more room but none of them - including the macs- were that wide. If I were to buy another double I would suggest the combi. Not that I don't love my stroller but the combi folds up much smaller. It's rated for 45lbs per seat. It pushes beautifully also. It is about $199.

I saw the Eddie Bauer tandem mentioned in a previous post at Target today...I really like it...very easy to push...the handles are not too short as some umbrella stroller handles can be. I've got a 5, 3, and 6 month old. The 3 year old tried out the front seat on the floor model and fit fine, she would have fit nicely in the back seat as well, although she is petite. I really want this for our trip in December! Just have to get around DH because he thinks I have a stroller fetish. I already have a graco duoglide double stroller (too heavy to take), an avalon side by side double stroller (difficult to fold and not very compact), a jeep double umbrella stroller (like it, but only got it b/c I could not find a tandem umbrella ). I won't even tell you how many single strolers I have (3) DH does not like the jeep umbrella b/c he thinks it's too wide. :smooth: We ended up renting a double the last time...maybe I'll point out the cost of the rental for 9 days would pay for the stroller...hmmm..or I could have my own stroller sale! That might work! :yay:

That's what I figure, we are getting a 7 day pass, which would be what... $112 in rental fees? I'll keep the box and sell it on eBay when we are done with it, I have done that before (actually, I had a Mac TT and sold it, thinking we were done with doubles... this Dis trip sort of came up out of nowhere, we weren't planning to go again for a few more years).

I bought the Transit from albeebaby and it should be here within the week. I'll report back when it arrives.
