I think this is just referral bonus. If a current member refers you and you purchase direct, both the new member and current member are eligible for a small gift from DVC.

The new member will receive 500 dollars off their contract and the current member will receive a gift (supposedly in the form of dining credit I believe).

When I bought my direct contract I was asked to provide name and email of the current user in order to get the discount.

That’s crazy if true. I bought ours in 2019 using the referral. We did not receive any benefit and the person who referred us received a $75 dining credit or Disney gift card or something. It wasn’t much.

The referral has to happen before purchasing by the existing member. There is a place to do it on the website.

We just bought a direct contact in February and got a $500 credit. A friend of mine owns DVC and gave me a referral link. I believe she received a meal voucher since we purchased under the pay it forward program.

I don’t know if this is the case for new members but I talked with my guide today and he said that they have a promotion where they will buy the 2022 use year points as a rebate for $22 a point until May. I think that is a great deal as rentals are running about that much and you won’t have you deal with finding a room or contracts.
That is separate from the dream it forward but you would have to ask them if this rebate is for new members
