Looking to buy new memory card, how many pict. on 1GB card?

I am looking to get a new memory card for my camera before our trip in Oct. About how many pictures can a 1GB card hold if you only take pictures not video? The card I have I think is a 256MB and it doesn't seem to hold to many.

I get between 300-400 on a 6mp camera. It all depends on the quality and resolution of your camera. Google your camera name and you should be able to find out.

1. Check you camera instructions!! I forgot this step and nearly killed my Camera with a 2 gig card.

2. More cards of the proper size are better than killing you camera.

3. Cards 1gig and lower are really cheap now get 5 or 6!!

4. It depends on what resolution you have you camera set at Best takes up tons of room, Better on my camera creates much clearer pics than Best. And I haven't run out of room yet. Like this one.

It entirely depends on the size and resolution of the photos you are taking. I can fit 291 shots of the largest size and highest resolution in .jpg, or 89 shot in RAW on a 1 gig disk. If I bump it down to smallest size and a medium resolution I can put 1000 or more shots on one disk.

I use 1 gig disks for almost everything, I do have a couple of two gig disks I use when shooting a concert in RAW, only because I normally take 120-200 shots of any given band, and fill up a single card quickly and it takes away prescious seconds to change cards when you've got a very limited time frame to get your shots.

Thanks everyone. That is exactly what I was looking for. I want to take a lot of pictures since we have never been in the fall. It is just my DH and I for our 15th ann. We are so excited.
