We are looking into buying a washer/dryer combo for our camper- wondering if anyone else has done this, and can steer us towards a good company. We checked with the place we got our camper from, but the $2000 price estimate she came up with seems WAY out of line and wanted to ask you guys ;) If it really IS that much, I think we'll just be using the comfort stations forever LOL

Is your camper set up for a W/D? Do you want a combo or a stacked unit. A combo will be about $1,000 while a stacked will be about $1,500 plus installation. The prices are just my guesses you might do much better of worse. Jean's motto is no W/D no camper!

It is set up for one, as far as the plumbing and stuff.

If space is not an issue, I've heard it takes soooooooo long for the one load to complete that it might be better to have separate units instead of a combo.

I am by no means an expert as I am still just shopping for an TT, hoping to buy in the next year or so. I had thought having a washer/dryer would be a great convenience but I have had 2 different salesman (guys would that would actually make money from selling me one) tell me that I would regret it. They said they are nothing but trouble, constant maintenance issues, leaks, etc. So I decided that with those issues, along with the cost I would just use comfort stations or laundry mats while on the road.

We have had them for 16 years. There is no real maintenance other than what you have at home. The stacked unit allows you to wash and dry at the same time. Most salesmen have never slept in an RV.

We have a combo in our coach and LOVE it. Took us a while to figure it out but as we travel with just the two of us is do one load a day whites one day colored the next no other real problem except it is small capacity For us it was and is a MUST HAVE feature

Sam's Club has one (washer/dryer combo) for $999.00.

Oh.... Are you supposed to do them separately? :lmao:

maybe that's why the DW won't let me touch her laundry?

I really don't have an issue of "Separating" because I rarely wear "White" (Black socks, black shorts, black t-shirts... etc...)

Because I know you also live "up nort"!, I wonder about the winterizing process of a washing machine, blowing out lines, antifreeze, etc. That was the reason for not purchasing one for ours. We looked and also noticed most would only wash four pair of jeans, or not a whole kind bed set, at most, with a two hour wash/dry time, and thought the CS seemed easier and faster. Good luck on your decision. It will be the right one for you. Happy SPRING.

hahahaha That me right there- it all goes in at once, or it doesn't get washed LOL With 4 kids, I can't afford to sort :laundy:

Hi bjschil! I'm not sure about the Happy Spring yet- last week we were in the 50's- this week it's back in the 20's- we might hit 30 today. But the world is once again covered in not only snow this morning, but also a beautiful layer of ice. Glad I don't have to go anywhere until church tonight! I hope your weather is better!
We had a stackable washer/dryer in our rolling turd- it was small, but boy was it well loved! And as long as I threw a load in every day, we didn't have to spend so much time at the comfort stations- it was awesome! And I know Joe winterized that one easily- I'm hoping this would be even easier since everything is "new and improved"...:flower1::love:

Serenitygr, See, you tell me that, and it might have been Bill that unconvinced me!! Darn men. I knew you would make the right decision. I still wish I had the washer/dryer. Especially now. We sold our14 year old new home to our son and his wife, (here in our Dairy Farm), and our new build, much smaller house, has not started yet! YIKES. We are living in our fifth wheel, 2016 Sanibel 3071. We have sorted winter vs spring/summer clothing, everything in storage, and on our camper pad perhaps a bit too close to our son wife, and four kids! This is a good lesson in Breathe, BREATHE! We will be in by October. No Fort for us till next February, and perhaps by then I will be ready to "camp" again. Yes spring was here, left, came back, but the next few nights will be fireplace/Furnace nights. I love reading your posts. Enjoy your new fiver, you will love the space.

Wow barb, living in the camper while waiting on the smaller house, impressed or crazy not sure. Good luck, hope the new home finishes quick. Since it's a washer dryer thread. I have a combo unit. I like it. It does the job, bit when I have lots of laundry, I go to the comfort station. Basically on a trip I tend to use both my own machine and comfort station. I like knowing I can do it in the camper, even if it takes a while.
