Well just as I feared - we had been hoping to be able to book either BWV or BCV during the Food and Wine Festival and are finding that it is VERY hard when you don't own there.

So we are considering adding on 75 pts or so to our current membership (BLT). Is it still possible to buy pts for BWV or BCV through Disney or do we need to buy a resale membership?

We are going on a cruise on Disney Dream in a couple of months and I know that they sometimes have special sales deals running for passengers so I am trying to sort out all of our options.

You can buy through DVC. We purchased our first BCV add-on through them.

I think it is about $115 per point at each of those direct though Disney.

Resales can be had for mid $80's at BCV and for anywhere as low as $50 for BWV.

Small resales go quick, sometimes direct is worth the extra cost, best of luck!

We were told that there are generally no incentives for sold out resorts like BWV and BCV. You might save some money going through resale, although resale contracts that match your UY/needs may be hard to find. I had to labor through 4 weeks of checking emails/websites like a crazy person before I found something that fit our needs but was kinda pricey (prices went up after the 3/20 announcement). Still, better than going through Disney I suppose. Waiting for sellers to sign the contract, then we'll see ;)

Buying through Disney is pretty quick and painless but as mention the resale market can save you some $$. The down side is finding the right size contract and from what I have seen is there are many large 200+ point contracts available and few to none of the smaller ones. I would also expect that a resale of a small contract will hold a higher sale price like the mid $80s for BCV and low to mid $70s for BWV.

BCV is a resort that we have only bought direct. We bought in stages of what was available in our UY, March. Doing it in steps, 25-40 points at a time, it didn't "hurt" us financially. Eventually, we acquired the points that we need. So many of the BCV contracts that were for sale didn't include all of the points and I didn't want to wait for 2 years to get points.

I don't think they will give you a deal on BCV or BWV while on your cruise.

Best wishes! From the recent posts, some people who were going right at the beginning of F&W reported getting into BCV or BWV, but now people are talking about being on a waitlist.:wizard:

I just added printed my contract for a BWV add on.

I called my guide for BWV prices last week- $115 per point.

Had an offer accepted for $50 per point for 166 points.

If I'd bought from Disney, I would have bought 100 points at $11,500 total.

Got 166 points for $8300 plus $400 closing.

Did you pass ROFR yet?

Even though it may seem like a steal, DVC doesn't seem to be buying back anything with the exception of BCV. The problem that I see for the OP is that only 75 points are wanted/needed and the extra MF may make something like that unattractive.

Very true....I was always hoping that my BWV points would carry value into the future. $50 seems like a steal compared to buying through Disney. Though I probably will never sell:) so it really doesn't much matter anyway.

Agreed. But, I recently backed out of another BWV contract due to the seller being unable to close at a reasonable date ( they didn't inform anyone of this until after contracts were signed and sent for ROFR ) I was buying 100 points at $61 per point. $350 closing....

Again from Disney it was 11,500.

$5000 savings will pay those extra 25 points worth of maintenance fees for a long time. If my math is correct, ( and I admit it may not be ) it would take around 33 years for those extra 25 points fees to add up to the savings on the contract.

If the OP buys from Disney 75 at $115, that is $8625. That 100 point contract you ended up not buying would be $6450. So, that is only a savings $2175. It would take only 16 years to break even.

Of course, that is still a long time, but on the other hand, for just over $2000, you get what you want, the UY that you want, and current UY points without the wait or hassle by going through Disney.

I am happy for you! :goodvibes Enjoy the points! You got a great price at a wonderful resort!!!!

You are comparing apples to oranges. It's a $2000 price difference between a 75 and a 100 point contract. I was comparing 100 to 100 points.

Quite frankly, if I was buying 75 points I'd STILL offer low ( very low ) 60s. There is just no way to justify paying an extra $55 PER point to Disney for something that drops in value by half as soon as you sign the contract.

I was comparing that way because the OP is looking for 75 points, not 100. If you only want a certain # of points, but in order to get a cheaper price per point, you have to buy points you may not need and/or want, you would want to compare what you actually want to buy.

If the OP only wants 75, they would not buy 100 through Disney, but rather 75. There would be no need to buy more points if they buy direct since they can get exactly what they want. So, her costs going through Disney would only be what 75 points would cost.

Obviously, it would be more expensive buying direct if you are buying the same # of points.

Op, yes, you can buy your Boardwalk points - or Beach Club- direct from Disney at $115 a point.

Your total for 75 points direct from Disney will cost more than my 166 point resale contract.

But, if money's no option, or you have to buy "this second" have at it.

I need to know, where are you finding these contracts? I have been looking for a little over a month. Not having your luck...

Those weren't the asking prices.

The 100 point BWV contract was offered at 69pp and I offered 61 and it was accepted.

The 166 point BWV contract was offered at $70 a point and I offered $50 and it was accepted.

I also own 4 HHI contracts ( we live in Charleston, love the resort and stay there often )

My last HHI contract, I purchased at $41 for a 150 point contract.

I'll end up with 686 points total for not a whole lot more than a direct from Disney 200 point buy in.

This is true. Most of the low price per point contracts that are accepted by the sellers are those selling over 150(still not too many of these), and more commonly over 200 points per contract. No one will ever find a 75-100 point contract for $50/pt.(Except maybe Vero Beach and HHI).
