Looking forward to a crowd-free Disney Trip! **Update 9/4**

Hope!!! I am so behind!! I am working on it though!

I was never nauseous when I was pregnant. Well, I take that back, before I knew I was pregnant I was for a couple days, (which is what ultimately helped me realize I was pregnant) but once I knew, I wasn't sick again.

My cravings were wierd because they weren't wierd :lmao: I mean I craved normal food like steak, or KFC. And when I wanted it, I HAD to have it. I never ate much of it though, like 2 or 3 bites and I was good. Which helped since I ate whatever I wanted, but still only gained about 25 pounds (which I am pretty sure I haven't lost yet) :rotfl2:

I like your Pooh theme, and that stuff is all on sale right now!! I am taking Jack and his friend Rylee to see the movie on Monday! I can't believe your trip is less than 2 months away. Mine is 3 months from tomorrow!! I'm getting excited!

Yes they make Tamrons for Canons too. You just have to get one made for the brand of camera you have. Same with Sigma.

Hi! So sorry I haven't been over to your report recently. I have been so busy and of course am behind on ALL of my subs! I hope to catch up today! I have been reading it, just haven't posted -- but I will I promise! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info on the Tamron. I'll pass it along. I have a Canon Xsi and purchased a zoom lens at the recommendation of another DISer so I don't have a need for another lens right now (plus I don't think I can put Tamron on Canon, right?)

No worries at all about the PTR! As you well know, I've been a bit lax on updating it myself! :) Summer really makes it hard to keep track of everyone else's reports as well as write your own! :goodvibes

Tamron makes lenses for both Cannon and Nikon, just different formats / threads. My DH had a Xsi for a few months before we ended up switching to Nikon and he LOVED it. We gave it to his parents, they were in the market for a new camera which worked with our plan to go all Nikon (to use all the lenses I already had).:thumbsup2

I promise to respond to everyone's comments later, but just wanted to get some pregnancy-related advice!!! :thumbsup2

I'm trying to come up with a list of the rides that I should avoid on our trip. At the time of our trip, I will be about 20 1/2 weeks pregnant. I'm already really, really worried about eating on the trip! I've been sick ALOT and not just "morning sickness" but more like "all day sickness"! So I figure if I can write a list of the rides that I can't go on, I'll at least feel like I've accomplished something!!!

When I am not throwing up, I just feel nautious & I rarely get hungry for anything. You can sit there & name five thousand restaurants to me & I won't be hungry for ONE single food item! Its just terrible!!! In the past few days, I have began to "sort of" become hungry for random things. I just have to basically eat at the moment when I'm hungry or else the feeling passes & I just begin to feel nautious again!

So, back to the rides! I found this list on wdwinfo and wondered if anyone has anything to add to it! This is their list for things pregnant women need to avoid. I personally disagree with 3 of them...I think I will be fine on Indy Speedway, Kilamanjaro Safari and Kali River Rapids.

From WDWinfo:
Here's the list of attractions that pregnant women shouldn't ride:

Magic Kingdom:

•Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
•Space Mountain
•Splash Mountain
•Tomorrowland Indy Speedway

Epcot:

•Mission: SPACE
•Test Track

Disney's Hollywood Studios:

•Star Tours
•Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
•Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Animal Kingdom:

•DINOSAUR
•Expedition Everest
•Kali River Rapids
•Kilimanjaro Safari
•Primeval Whirl

What do you guys think???

Catching up! I didn't realize your pregnancy is now considered "normal" that is FANTASTIC news! :yay:

As for the list of things pregnant women can't ride - I don't think the Safari has a restriction on it, but because the back can be SO bumpy, I think that's why it made the list. If you ride it, ask for a front seat.

The Indy Speedway because someone could rear-end you, and Kali probably because of the drop? :confused3

Hope! I feel like I got so behind and I have no idea how!
First of all, I'm am so thrilled for you and your family that everything is normal with the pregnancy! After the scare, it must be a relief to be a little sick and worrying about which rides you can go on. It's all worth it!

And yes please send me that photography website because I did buy "Nikon D3000 for Dummies" and I haven't gotten very far through it yet....

That pretty much looks like all the major rides, maybe ITTBAB because of some of the jerking movements?

Sorry about the nausea feeling, hopefully in a few more weeks it will subside and you'll get into the hungry phase of pregnancy. Glad everything is going well though :goodvibes

Here's my 'grandma' advice - go by what Disney World recommends. There is no chance worth jeopardizing your sweet little baby. :lovestruc That's the overprotectiveness in me, maybe, but since you have already had a scare and are now feeling better about things, I just wouldn't take any, any, any chances. Enjoy what you can, and those rides will be there the next time around. ::yes::

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but us old folks think we can say whatever we want to when asked for our advice. ;)

Sorry you are feeling so icky, Hope  And I agree with MeMom, definitely go with what Disney World recommends. All those rides will be there down the road!

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but us old folks think we can say whatever we want to when asked for our advice. ;)

:lmao: I wish you could meet my Nana (not the one in Ohio, my mom's mom, who lives across the street from us) -- she TOTALLY follows that rule! Sometimes you don't even ask her anything, she just offers up her views/opinions, or comments on something she sees and doesn't think twice about it. I could listen to her all day, seriously. She comes out with some really good one-liners, too! :rotfl:

I can see Indy and the safari. Bot hare jerky. The speedway you can really get bumped and jerked around when someone rear ends you. And the safari kills my back, so imagine it can shake that baby pretty good.
I never rode Kali, so I can't say why that one.

Hey Hope! Hope you are feeling better! I was actually 2 months pregnant with Devon the 1st time I went to Disney. OMG I had the worst morning sickness when I was there too! I swear I was running for the nearest bathroom as soon as I went thru the park turnstiles every morning! The list you have is pretty point on in my opinion. I would just talk to your doctor before you go. My doctor actually told me I was ok to ride Splash, the safari and the rapids, so I DID!!!

Hmmm...I thought I emailed you or messaged you on facebook :confused3

Probably just another one of my "baby brain" moments -- and by the way, I :lovestruc that you referred to it as that because now I do it ALL THE TIME!!! I love that expression! :thumbsup2

Good idea about the Safari! I'll make sure to ask for a front seat. I think last year, we were pretty close to the front but I don't remember for sure. We went during "busy season" so there were a million safaris going on & we went slooooow! Probably why I didn't understand the restriction on it! But I'll keep the front in mind if I do decide to try it out.

I didn't even think of someone rear-ending me on Indy! I'm really starting to annoy myself by forgetting all of these super obvious things! :lmao: :lmao:

I think I will skip Indy & possibly walk around taking pictures near the ToonTown walls. I'd love to get some pictures of Luke & my DH on Indy & it would be easier if I wasn't on it anyway! :goodvibes

Sorry, Nikki -- I thought I emailed you too! :confused3

I'll have to check my "drafts" folder because now I am certain that I wrote an email to you MWT girls -- but where is it? That's the question! I would bet its saved in my drafts & I never sent it. I really did think of you girls & write an updated email!

Yes, you are right! I would much rather be sick & not be able to eat than to worry daily/hourly about the issues I had at the beginning of my pregnancy! It definitely is all worth it in the end -- this pregnancy is just sooo different than before.

I'll send you the photography website right now so I don't forget! :thumbsup2

Thanks Stefy!!! :goodvibes

You're probably right about the jerky movements! I was reading an article the other night about the effect of amusement park rides on pregnant women & unborn babies. It really scared me to death!!!

After I posted here, I researched like crazy on alot of Disney sites & found some really useful info!!!

I'm starting to feel hungry & alot better. I still have days when I'm very tired or sick most of the day, but for the most part I'm much better! Today was my record breaker with food! I ate 2 pieces of lasagna, 8 onion rings, 1 piece of zucchini bread, a tomato (yes I eat them plain! yum!), chicken noodle soup, and a few small snack items! I got on the scale before I came to bed and I didn't gain any weight but I feel better!!!

I need to catch up on your report & also message you!!!

Thanks for the advice, MeMom!!! :goodvibes

You are absolutely right! Nothing is worth risking it -- and all of those rides will be there next trip! I don't think you're overprotective -- you just care & that's what makes you so great!!! :goodvibes

Also...ummm...about that "old folk advice" -- it sounds EXACTLY like me! ;)

As of this moment, when I say exactly what I want to, I blame it on being pregnant! But everyone knows I do it "normally" so I don't think they buy the excuse! :lmao:

Thanks, Meghan!

I was looking at my park maps last night, just to try to start a game plan and they actually have the "warning" for pregnant women written right on the maps! I never noticed it before, but it makes it very convenient!

Someone who comments on everything without being asked? Who offers advice or opinions without thinking twice about it? Yep, that is soooo me!!! I want to meet your grandma too please! ;) I have a feeling her & I would get along very well!!!

I never rode Kali, so I can't say why that one.

I definitely think Disney takes the jerkiness into consideration with the pregnancy warnings.

As I told Brook, we were there during a really busy season & our safari driver was sooo slow! I could tell he was actually making up parts of his script (or trying to make some parts longer than they're supposed to be) because we were held up waiting for trucks in front of us to move. I think that's probably why I didn't think it should be on the list. We didn't move fast so the jerkiness was kept to a minimum! lol

I've never rode Kali either which is partially why I wanted to this trip -- but it can wait!

I'm definitely going to talk to my doctor at my September appointment. I'll have an appt the week before we go. I already told him I was flying in September & he said that was fine -- but he gave me a very interesting look when I told him we were going to DISNEY for 10 days!!! :lmao:

I love to hear advice from women who have traveled to Disney while pregnant -- so tell me anything you'd like!!! I'm all ears!!!

I'm hoping the sickness is mostly gone before the trip -- but now I have a new worry as I've been reading horror stories about ankles swelling due to walking around the parks all day!

I wish you wouldn't have told me you were allowed to ride Splash! Now I'm so tempted! :lmao: I am soooo disappointed that I won't get to ride it! I was really looking forward to it this trip & everytime I watch the YouTube videos, I cry now! I'm sooo paranoid about this pregnancy, I know I won't end up riding it...I guess it will be there next year...

Thanks Stefy!!! :goodvibes

Glad to hear your feeling better and the nausea is subsiding :) That's not a bad haul of food, give it time and that will double :teeth:

Don't read too much into things you don't want to scare yourself now, esp on vacation. Just take it easy, avoid the major rides and just soak in being there, see it through Luke's eyes :goodvibes

My report is nearly done, just trying to figure out what else to post. Am thinking must do's perhaps :)

The only one of those I rode when I was pregnant was Kiliamanjaro Safari. I was about 4.5 months when I went. While my family rode the rides I hung out in the shops etc. It was actually really nice to be able to go at a slower pace, I learned to appreciate a lot more of the smaller things, the Disney touches etc. It's one of those things, yeah, you probably can ride some of those rides, but is it worth the risk?

I just caught up after months! Congrats on your newest addition!!! I am loving your PTR!
41 days left!!!!!!!!

Magic Kingdom:

•Tomorrowland Indy Speedway This ride is just so jerky all together- there are no slow rolling stops. they are sudden, basically toss you around type of stops.
I'd probably also stay away from the teacups LOL

Epcot:

•Mission: SPACE
•Test Track
if you are having a bad tummy day, i'd stay away from soarin. it seems that it could possibly induce nausea

Disney's Hollywood Studios:

•Star Tours
•Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
•Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Animal Kingdom:

•DINOSAUR
•Expedition Everest
•Kali River Rapids
•Kilimanjaro Safari there is a definite difference between the front and the back.
•Primeval Whirl

What do you guys think???

in addition to whatever they have listed, you could roughly go by- would i take my newborn/ infant on it? if you would, then i'd bet you'd probably be okay now.

I avoided the teacups too, now that I think about it!

She's a crazy lady in the best way, she's SO much fun. My favorite is when she uses her "old lady" voice -- she says, in this wavering little voice, "oh, I don't know any better! I'm eighty-four years old!" She uses that voice when telemarketers call and they immediately apologize, hang up and never call back. :lmao:

I had no idea they had warnings for pregnant women right on the maps (I never really look at the maps ) That's awesome! Is the nausea going away at all?

Hope!!! I am so behind!! I am working on it though!

No problem at all with being behind! I'm at least 3 updates behind with MY OWN report! :lmao:

Right now, I'm trying to catch up on responding to everyone. I felt horrible about skipping so many posts but really wanted to get an update posted. I feel so behind! The entire month of July was supposed to be "free" but of course, that didn't happen!

That is awesome that you weren't nautious with your pregnancy! When I was pregnant with Luke, it was similar to when you were pregnant with Jack -- I was nautious for a few days at first, but then nothing. I had cravings ALL the time and ate pretty much anything & everything!

I was just checking my ADR's on the reservation site & I only have 39 days to go!!! I am thrilled!!!!!

Not only am I excited for MY trip, but also for the girls going to the AEP & then YOUR trip!!!! I can't wait to see pictures of DL & of your cruise!!! I am super, super jealous because the Mexican Riviera is my dream cruise!!! It would be AMAZING to go on that one & spend a few days at DL! Please take lots of pictures of "the real ToonTown" for me, ok??? ;)

After writing that, I'm really, really hoping you posted an update on your PTR & I didn't give away the surprise to all of your readers! If I did, just yell at me & I'll definitely owe ya one! ;)

Yes they make Tamrons for Canons too. You just have to get one made for the brand of camera you have. Same with Sigma.

Thanks Jen! I'll definitely look into Tamron & Sigma next time I want to purchase a lens! :thumbsup2

We gave it to his parents, they were in the market for a new camera which worked with our plan to go all Nikon (to use all the lenses I already had).:thumbsup2

You are definitely right!!! It's harder to keep up in the summer! We have so much more to do outside -- with the landscaping, keeping up with the yard/weeding, the garden, cooking/baking w/all the goodies from the garden, etc. I love to go outside & just enjoy the weather! Normally I sit out on the deck everyday & occassionally will take my laptop out too. This year, I didn't as much because of the humidity! I love warm temperatures -- but when it feels over 100 for weeks at a time, its a little much!

I've also been very tired earlier in the evenings due to the pregnancy. I'm so used to staying up until midnight catching up on stuff for work & around the house, but I've had to change my schedule & do that in the mornings now.

Somehow I managed to catch up "a little bit" on DIS recently! My goal for next week is to catch up on all my subs -- so everyone stop updating so I can catch up! :lmao:

That really worked out perfectly with your husband's Xsi! It is a really great camera! A few friends of mine have the Xs and they love it as well. My previous camera was a Canon Powershot S3is and I really loved it!!! I took it to Disney last summer & it took great pictures!!!

I love my Canon, but my goal is to someday own a Nikon! They are awesome cameras!!! -- but for now, my little Nikon Coolpix will have to do! :lmao:

Glad to hear your feeling better and the nausea is subsiding :) That's not a bad haul of food, give it time and that will double :teeth:

Hey Stefy -- how many days until you leave??? I cannot even imagine how excited you must be!!!!

I have been eating more -- its on & off, but its much better than before! I still have days occassionally when I can't eat alot -- but I just make up for it on those days when I'm super hungry! :goodvibes

I have been doing alot of planning & alot of thinking -- and you are right!!! I really need to just focus on enjoying the trip! It's important to me that I really take in Luke's reactions/emotions on this trip since it will be his last "solo" vacation with us! On our next trip, we'll have a little one with us! I'm already trying to convince DH we still need to take my 30th birthday trip next year -- after all, Luke went to Disney when he was only 10 months old!

I caught up on your report the other night!!! But I want to go through & read it again to see which park days match up for us. I changed a few days around & we might add another MK day!
