I am hosting Xmas eve this year at my home (I normally do Easter) so I am looking for some really great cookie or desert recipes. I don't normally make much other than refrigerated dough from the grocery store but obviously cannot do that this year!

My family is very large so we are expecting about 50-60 people so any large batch recipes would be awesome!

Thanks in advance!

dd's go to for potlucks (and inhaled at the ones we take them to) are 'salted chocolate turtle cookies'-

1. buy papa murphy's chocolate chip cookie dough:teeth:
2. mix in chopped pecans
3. following baking instructions
4. upon removal from oven top each cookie with pecan half, allow to cook 2 minutes then lighly drizzle with torani caramel sauce and LIGHTLY sprinkle with salt.

Thank you! These sound SO good and even easy!:thumbsup2

If you're expecting 50-60 people, unless you have endless time the best recipe may be:

1. Get in the car
2. Drive to grocery store/bakery
3. Pick wide variety of cookies
4. Open wallet
5. Serve and relax

:D

What about a good bark recipe? You can make those in really large batches and break them up into pieces.

Peanut blossoms are usually very popular, make quite a large amount, are quick and easy. Recipe will be right on the back of the Hershey's Kiss package too.

ETA They're also sometimes an easy way to start a baking session because they are a shortening cookie, so you don't have to wait for butter to soften.

Newfoundland Cherry Cake Squares is one of my favorite festive recipes. It's like a cherry-almond sugar cookie bar with almond frosting.

I multiply the recipe by 1.5 to fit a 9x13" pan and I use the parchment to pull it from the pan and cut with a large knife on a cutting board.

Side note: Every recipe I've made on that blog is fantastic and is a huge hit when I take it to a club I'm in.

Otherwise, I do Italian Ricotta cookies, peanut blossoms, or cutouts.

This is a recipe my mom has been making for years and years. It makes the BEST Christmas cookie in my opinion. For a group that large, I would double or even triple it.

1 cup butter
1 cup icing sugar (not granulated, must be icing sugar)

Cream the above two ingredients until light and fluffy.

Add to butter and sugar mixture:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

Mix until well combined. Then add:

2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda

Mix again until the dough comes together. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Roll out dough and cut with your favourite cookie cutters. I use an egg wash on top of the cookies and decorate with sprinkles. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until bottoms are golden.

another really easy one is to get golden grahams cereal and use them in place of the rice krispies for the traditional rice krispie treat recipe w/the addition of mini chocolate chips. you get smore treats.

Peanut butter blossom, super easy... I change out the candy, using different flavor kisses, or even used up a bunch of bite size candies.

You could make one large cookie ( chocolate chip and m&m cookie dough) or ( sugar cookies with red and green m&m's) on a cookie sheet and decorate like a wreath, green icing around the edges. For a Wow element...

I made chocolate covered pretzels one year with the large pretzel rods, another year I went with the small traditional pretzels.... using both milk and white chocolate, and bagged them up for guest to take home, with a large group like yours you might just want to make a bunch and put them in a bowl...

I make lemon cookies... sorta like the wedding cookies... my family enjoys a large variety of cookies...
