We're going to dance our first dance together to "At Last"

Another one we're thinking of is "All I ask of you" from Phantom of the Opera. The only problem with it (perhaps depending on who's singing it) is my Dfi's name isn't Christine. :lmao: He quietly mentions her name once in the song.

A third one is "What are you doing for the rest of your life" by Dust Springfield (from the diamond commmercial)

We also need one as a dediction for my parents and my Dfi's father who sadly aren't around to see us get married. I'm going to dance with her mother as a dedication to them.

I adore "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. It's a super sweet, romantic song.

I don't get many things
right the first time
in fact, I am told that a lot
now I know all the wrong turns —
the stumbles and falls brought me here

and where was I before the day
that I first saw your lovely face
now I see it everyday
and I know

that I am, I am
I am the luckiest

what if I'd been born
fifty years before you
in a house
on the street where you lived
maybe I'd be outside
as you passed on your bike,
would I know?

and in a wide sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
and I know

that I am, I am
I am the luckiest

I love you more than I have
ever found a way to say to you

next door there's an old man
who lived into his nineties
and one day passed away in his sleep
and his wife, she stayed
for a couple of days and passed away

I'm sorry I know that's a
strange way to tell you
that I know we belong
that I know

that I am, I am
I am the luckiest

We made our grand entrance to "Beautiful Day" by U2. I can't remember now what the wedding party entered to.

We cut the cake to the Queen song about best friends. Not sure if it's the title, but the key line is something to do with best friends.

I wanted to do Fat Bottom Girls by Queen for the bouquet toss, but I was overruled by everybody. I thought it would be funny, but nobody else got it. I can't remember now what song was playing.

When we made our exit, the monkey's song "I'm a Believer" played.

How about the song that's played at the end of IllumiNations? "We Go On"?

agnes!

Maybe "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" off the Beatle's White Album :confused3

My wedding song.. was "The Flame" by Cheap Trick... if you really think about it, it is a Break Up song... but the Other words to it.. the Chours parts are Great as a wedding song..

Well, I did ask for the "not the usual". :lmao:

It's been forever since I've been to a wedding so I don't know if this is one of the "usual" ones or not but I absolutely love the duet "If I Never Knew You" from Disney's Pocahontas. I told DW that she and I need to learn it so we can sing it to each other at our 25th wedding anniversary celebration (which gives us 6 years to get it down ;) ).

All good choices! However, "What are you doing the rest of your life".....I heard this many times at Anniversary parties.

How bout "One Hand, One Heart" from West Side Story. I heard Streisand & Johnny Mathis sing this as a Duet!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I don't know... I'd have to wear a hat to hide my horns.

I walked down the aisle to this song and I still love it today.

Longer by Dan Fogelberg

Longer than there've been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens
I've been in love with you.

Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I am in love with you.

I'll bring fires in the winters
You'll send showers in the springs
We'll fly through the falls and summers
With love on our wings.

Through the years as the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow
I'll be in love with you.

Longer than there've been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens
I've been in love with you
I am in love with you..

I don't know how common this one is these days. But this was our "first dance" song.

"Biggest Part of Me"/Ambrosia

(sunrise)

Theres a new sun arisin
(in your eyes) I can see a new horizon
(realize) that will keep me realizin
Youre the biggest part of me

(stay the night) need your lovin here beside me
(shine the light) need you close enough to guide me
(for all my life) Ive been hopin you would find me
Youre the biggest part of me

Well

Make a wish, baby
Well, and I will make it come true
Make a list, baby
Of the things Ill do for you
Aint no risk, now,
In lettin my love rain down on you,
So we could wash away the past,
So that we may start anew

(rainbow) risin over my shoulder;
(love flows) gettin better as were older
(all I know) all I want to do is hold her
Shes the life that breathes in me
(forever) got a feelin that forever
(together) we are gonna stay together
(for better) for me, theres nothin better
Youre biggest part of me

Well

Make a wish, baby
Well, and I will make it come true
Make a list, baby
Of the things Ill do for you
Aint no risk, now,
In lettin my love rain down on you,
So we could wash away the past,
So that we may start anew

Oh

More than an easy feelin,
She brings joy to me
How can I tell you
What it means to me?
Flow like a lazy river
For an eternity
Ive finally found someone
Who believes in me,
And Ill never leave

Oh

Oh, not to doubt now
Mmmm, make life grand

Well

Make a wish, baby
Well, and I will make it come true
Make a list, baby
Of the things Ill do for you
Aint no risk, now,
In lettin my love rain down on you,
So we could wash away the past,
So that we may start anew

(beside me) need your lovin here beside me
(to guide me) keep it close enough to guide me
(inside of me) from the fears that are inside of me
Youre the biggest part of me

(forever) got a feelin that forever
(together) we are gonna stay together
(forever) from now until forever
Youre the biggest part of me
Youre the life that breathes in me
Youre the biggest part of me

Mmmmm

You changed my life
You made it right
And Ill be a servant to you
For the rest of my life
Youre the biggest part of me....

You asked for it! :lmao: Former DJ here, so I've got tons in my head.

My DH and I were going to dance to three different songs. We ended up with a very unusual reception site and the dancing did not happen. But, you can have my song list.

Many of these can be found on you tube, because many of them are lesser known groups

Marillion:
No One Can
Made Again *as soon as we started dating, after knowing each other eight years, both songs came up as being 'our song'

Tracey Byrd - Keeper of the Stars (okay, this was the third choice-we both had revealed that we had begun to like country music to each other)

Alison Kraus -I Don't Believe You've Met My Baby

America -I Need You

Basia - Drunk on Love, Sweetest Illusion, or Miles Away

Chicago - You're the Inspiration

Dan Fogelberg - Since You Asked

Climax Blues Band - I Love You

Fleetwood Mac - You Make Loving Fun

Firefall - You Are the Woman

Graham Parker - Wake Up (Next to You)

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - In this Life *this is such a great version of this song

Jimmy Durante - As Time Goes By

Julia Fordham - Love Moves in Mysterious Ways

Monroes - What Do All the People Know

REM - The One I Love

Shania Twain - From this Moment or If You're Not In it For Love

Sam Cooke - You Send Me

Turtles - Happy Together

Split Enz - I Got You

The hour is late and I've been through my iPod-gotta go through the CD library and a few MP3 discs to find more for you.

My DH made me a mix tape when we began dating. We both listen to this tape 13 years later. It's got great songs. Some of them that aren't there for the personal history are:
Friends Elton John
Until the Night Billy Joel
All I Wanted Kansas
In Your Eyes Peter Gabriel
Wishing You Were Here Chicago
These are the Days of Our Lives Queen

i like 'wonderful world' as done by louis armstrong.

another relative unknown, unless you are into broadway musicals is 'look over there' from la cage aux folles. there's a great lyric that goes 'so count all the loves who will love you from now till the end of your life, and when you have added the loves who have loved you before, look over there-look over there, somebody loves you more'. 'when your head spins too fast, and your bubble has burst-someone puts himself last so that you can come first'.
